anyone experienced the bugs with animated weather pro (slow animation) and the bug that when i connect from off the hd2 to pc, can't activate usb mode?
i hope that someone will fix these in next kernel version

These are not Kernel dev issues. They are specific to the android build your using. I don't have those issues, as I use another build. Please, if your not a kernel Dev, don't post your bugs unless your sure that all HD2 builds have the issue due to the Kernel or lib files. Like I've already stated, if you do post bugs here after not reading the 1st post or my warnings, I will delete your post. If you continue to post and spam the thread, I will infract for spamming/trolling. I'm not trying to be a hammer, just trying to help the Dev's have a productive thread here on XDA, focused on the HD2 Kernel developement.

Thanks

EDIT: DELETED 14 MORE OFF TOPIC POST AGAIN. IF YOU HAVE AN ANDROID BUG PLEASE POST IN THE GENERAL & QUESTIONS IN A NEW THREAD OR POST IN AN EXISTING THREAD ON THE TOPIC. THIS THREAD IS NOT FOR BUGS TO BE REPORTED, IT'S A CALL FOR DEV'S TO SHARE/COMBINE EFFORTS TO IMPROVE THE OVERALL KERNEL/BASE ROM. THEY ARE AWARE OF MANY OF THE ISSUES. THANKS.

Issue report: 100% CPU use, battery drain, and laggy system after a long period of time when overclocked with a large scaling range.

See here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9733

If the number of possible speed settings is too high, a ROM which uses the default buffer sizes for processStats.TIME_IN_STATE would overflow after a long period of use, causing the above problem which will only stabilize after reboot (or the file is made unreadable). Users who overclock with a dynamic governor in the range of 245-1536Mhz, for instance, would experience unbelievable device lag and battery drain after a certain amount of time when the logfile overflows (occurs with most sense roms). The patch increases the buffer size and fixes this problem.

Users who don't overclock, or overclock for only a small amount of time, reboot frequently, or otherwise limit the range of speeds to which their device can scale will not experience this issue. After a number of days on 245-1536 interactive, however, most non-CM ROMs using this kernel will experience a crippling scenario in which the size of the speed and time_in_state logfile exceeds the buffer size of the i/o process (on a word fault), causing the system to occupy almost 100% of the CPU in a fruitless read-fail loop and forcing a reboot to restore device functionality.

From the kernel side, a simple fix is to eliminate some (many) of the speed steps. Certainly many settings in the range of 245-998 can be weeded out, as can many of the trivial steps afterward.

Also, what about the new BT stack patches? Have they already been committed? Thanks like always,
CG

I know this is a problem with the Rafpigna kernels.

Please lets stop posting in here, we are only slowing down the real progress of kernel & code work for our beloved HD2s. They can fix the smaller issues later once they get rid of the bigger ones.

Hi Charan,
I'm very interested in your project and i'd like to know more !
Can we build a "working" kernel from your current sources at CM ? (from 22 April)
Do you have a "log" of what is working with this new kernel and issues ?
I want to learn and help !
Mods have made this post sticky, so we need to work to have a working .37 kernel ;)

Noellenchris, please delete my post if i'm off topic !

it seems that more than 3 devs expect a response from charan who started with passion but seems that is not in his priorities anymore.

@Charan, you said that you will elaborate on the descriptions, start working on the kernel once the hd2 is with you, and provide more information.

What happened?

I would like to help out, I know how to compile the kernel for the sd card. How are the command line arguments fed to the kernel on nand? On a pc during boot up you can give the CLI argument via grub. How does it work with MAGLDR? I think there is a variable that tells the kernel if it is nand boot how do you feed it into a nand boot?
Also when running logcat for things like 720p I know there are some errors coming out of the qcomm encoder are there any docs for those proprietary files?

I am waiting on a charger for my laptop, moreover i have a college admission exam on June 8 which obviously will be my top most proirity seeing my life depends on the exams. After June 8 i will be back on this project. Just wait for a month, I have some local changes that i cant commit so .37 kernel will take around 15 days to port

How about multitouch : 3 fingers at 1 time.

Some people cant play tap tap revenge 4 on extreme due to 3 touches on the screen at the same time. The kernal only support dual touch?

thats a problem with our digitizer (touchscreen)

the hardware only supports 2 points sadly and even that not properly as we have something called axis lock/line detection. (going near the same and/or y axis with 2 touches causes the points to jump on the same axis). that's why even multitouch with keyboards doesnt work properly...

cotulla said this somewhen in irc, though htc claimed the opposite and that it is software limitation.

charns .32 kernel

I have been updating Charnsingh unofficial cyanogen nightlies for awhile, have noticed that his kernel does not include the robo voice fix, considering this is the only place where kernel devs mass in one place i figured id ask here considering the irc is quieter than a graveyard, and i do realize its off topic, to get it back on topic GO TEAM GO! (i think) any help is appreciated

p.s

i do not need the quickfixes like call-speaker phone then hang up

If htc claimed that than it should be possible? They manufactured the phone anyway.
Also there seems to be two different types of screens. One @ the beginning aka the screen fewer/no dots at the crosses, and the newer version that has dots(improves accuracy). Probably htc is refering to the newer screen?

So, I played around with the O2X kernel from cyanogenmod a little, and have squeezed a little more RAM out of it :D

For all you flash junkies here is the download link: http://ul.to/qagslqy2 or http://adf.ly/1WYb8
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE THIS MAY CAUSE TO YOUR HANDSET!

It will give you exactly 64Mb more RAM to play with raising the bar from 383Mb to 447 Mb.

Tech info:
So, at some point while LG was messing around the kernel they decided to up the amount of video RAM the GPU got. I simply turned it back down the the standard 64Mb for tegra 2, and changed the cmdline of the boot image.
If you're interested in the small code change I made, feel free to drop me a PM :)

So there you go, enjoy your extra RAM!

-- Kiljacken

this quote is from a kernel thread on the g2x forums, but I saw the kernel had some tweaked line of code that gave the phone more ram, I was wondering if there was any possible means of doing a similar tweak to give our hd2's snapdragon more ram to work with, I think that would increase performance nicely, I'm not a dev so I thought I would present this information to somebody that might be able to aid in incorporating this tweak into our kernel, thanks

We already have extra RAM, I don't think we will get any more than this...:p

I hope devs won't get mad for posting this here but :
I'd love to have better support for the stock headset or headset in general. I tried many ROMS with many kernels (rafpigna , tytung, etc.) and although devs got the headset to work about 2 or 3 months ago (and thank you for that !), I'd say there is still work to be done.

1. - The Play button doesn't really work. It will pause the playback and answer a phone call once but after that, it won't work. I never managed to get the playback to resume once I already pressed the play/pause button.

2. - The sound seems to be very low for the person you are talking to. I have to speak loudly and put the mic right next to my mouth for the person to hear me. Sometimes, it's still not enough...

3. - If you plug the headset off during a phone call, it ends the call. Although I'm not sure if this is a feature, a bug, or ROM related I must say.

So all in all, it's better than nothing but for people like me who uses their phone as an mp3 player, there's a lot of frustration going on...

Thanks ! :)

4. If I plug jack headphones after unplug bluetooth hs or vice versa. Music media won't be heard anywhere. Clean typhoon 3.2.1 with CLK

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVlsRCMltDg&t=0m50s And this feature is only for super amoled?

Edit:
What's the going on? Desire HD have this same resolution and touch screen - right? There everything works properly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SNbMO5lhWU&t=0m30s HTC have some restricted by marketing stuff?

this has nothing to do with kernel... this is HW business!
don't you think cotulla would know if our digitizer is able to detect more points?

please do not post in this thread, post in General or ask in Q&A and if you really have a bug it will get noticed and you may post it here too...

Really not the right thread for this, as its not kernel related, but try the nightlies i maintain i use the stock headset all the time, play/pause works, skip and previous also work as well

    Hello guys.

But several requests from other developers, especially marc1706
I found time to look inside new 3.0.16 kernel ported by marc1706
    https://github.com/marc1706/android_kernel_leo_3.0.16
and was able to bring it up to board init function.

In attachments you can find several patches:

    1. Wrong config caused a halt during ATAG parse
    2. Wrong place for alloc_bootmem() caused another halt.
    3. Missing wait until timer really clear caused a dead loop inside lpj calibration.

*(uint32_t*)0xF800380C |= 0x20; // activates vibro, can be used for testing.
I am suggesting to enable early ramconsole to get detailed boot log.

    Best regards,
    -Cotulla

Please stay ON TOPIC to kernel DEV and missing code. Don't report every bug the Android build your using is having or it will be deleted as OFF TOPIC

As you all might be knowing that hd2 is pretty much a android native device now. Its just like any another snapdragon device. The current kernel code we are using in HD2 is pretty obsolete and missing a lot of things. It more like something working at its minimal efficiency. While i was porting over all the HD2 board files getting it on par with the other snapdragon devices I found out a lot of code was missing and some was obsolete. Eg. The gsensor code from microp was pretty minimal, a lot of things were missing in microp code. I suspect that it isnt the only code, a lot of bluetooth related stuff was missing and much more. I am not really gonna work on backporting the stuff to .32 kernel so i would like the kernel devs here to backport the stuff to the .32 kernel so a lot of bugs can be fixed and stuff can be made more stable until the .37 kernel is ready. All the commits can be found here

    https://github.com/charansingh/cm-kernel/tree/master

There might be some bravo or passion instances in there cuz i am comparing the code with these two devices and taking what is necessary and sometimes i have to leave my work due to some other work and forget which file i was working on so would appreciate the more bugs.

Also Mods can we get this a sticky so we can track the progress here

I give to you the first compiled version of the 3.0.16 kernel:
    View attachment marc1706_3.0.16_0.0.1a.zip

    What is working:
    • Boot-Up
    • Screen
    • Touchscreen
    • Backlight
    • Hardware Keypad
    • Keypad Backlight
    • Power Management (kinda, battery drain is kind of high with 80mA o_O)
    • Indicator LEDs
    • Battery Charging
    • NAND
    • SD-Card
    • USB
    • Audio
    • Camera
    • G-Sensor
    • Compass

    What should work:
    • Wifi
    • Data
    • Voice (Calls)

    What is not working:
    • Camcorder
    • Bluetooth

Please note that you'll need a ROM that is capable of handling the bcmdhd driver for Wifi. I hope someone will provide one that has the kernel and its modules compiled into it. Also note that you'll need cLK with a 16M initrd offset (any versions after February 6th 2013 should have that).

This release is not supposed to be flashed via recovery. The main reason being that I want to prevent the nubs that we have from flashing it.

If you want to thank me please just hit the thank you button. No need to spam the thread with infos about "how happy you are" or questions about "what is still needed". I'll keep you posted with updates. If you don't know what is missing, then chances are that you shouldn't be posting here in the first place.
    73
Another day of fixing issues on the Leo. Fixed so far:
    • Use 16M initrd offset (not really needed as the bootloader needs to fix that, i.e. cLK 1.5.1.8)
    • Use correct SMD channel for SMI control
    • Remove dalrpc from config (not needed)
    • Fix audio and vdec/venc initialization
    • Add missing code for creating partitions, msm_nand partitions are now being created

This leaves us with the following dmesg output:
    http://pastebin.com/C9wEPDht

And gets us as far as that in the booting process:
    http://youtu.be/grghONJ9Ibo

No, we can't actually do anything yet. The HD2 does a soft reboot after 2 seconds of doing anything.
    67
    Nand driver is fixed now.
It was rather easy problem, value was not assigned to variable.

Now kernel reaches init inside initrd.

My last DMESG (Note I took some arbitrary initrd.gz without any clue what is inside):
