Haze do you want to add to your OP that there will be a boot loop if this is tried on the latest E version obtained thru ota on rogers E971
Need to go back to D version thru kdz

Users can take backup of E and then restore from recovery on D and then install this too

The ota to E screws up something

Copy that, and thanks for the tip. I'll updated the OP in a bit here. Going to release build 4 today, which is mainly a AOKP resync to their build 2

Build 4 is now up, with mirror.

I believe this is the same for e973 users....if on the newest 10h software you need to downgrade to 10f, root, freegee then proceed with rom install.

Cheers

Re: [ROM] *Unofficial* AOKP 4.2.1 [Jan-27-13]

Can you flash this on e970 and then flash the att apns?

Why not?

It won't. Kernel is currently incompatible.

Just some feedback. I had been using this for just about a week. Finally drove down to Denver this weekend, where they have LTE. In areas with known LTE, I would have no data connection. It wouldn't roll back to HSPA+ just have no data (sometimes the 4g LTE logo would show, most of the time not). I flashed back over the stock ROM and was able to connect just fine to the LTE networks in the area.

Re: [ROM] *Unofficial* AOKP 4.2.1 [Jan-27-13]

Note: houstonn's .zip from the AOSP 4.2.1 thread for fixing the capacitive keys works on this ROM. There's also a build.prop tweak in that thread to remove the onscreen buttons.

Here's the thread:
http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=37152357&postcount=1

And here's the info on build.prop:
http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=37840361&postcount=81

EDIT 1: Hrm, it seems the build.prop tweak doesn't remove the nav bar. :( And there's nothing that I can see in the Settings --> ROM Control --> Navigation Bar to remove it either.

EDIT 2: Nevermind, it seems if you set the Height to 0, it turns off the nav bar. :) Hurrah, I now have working capacitive keys and no onscreen nav bar, running AOKP 4.2.1. :)

Sent via the magic of an Optimus G (E971) running AOKP (4.2.1).

Wow! I don't know what the AOKP devs, OP, or houstonn (or anyone else who worked on this ROM) did, but battery life is amazing!

100% charge at 6:30a when I took it off the charger. It's at 84% now, so ~2%/hour. Normal usage (gmail, greader, tapatalk, facebook, opera mobile, sms, a couple phone calls, various calendar alerts). Wifi and data radios managed by JuiceDefender.

Previous ROMs, including stock, would have the battery down around 50-60% by now.

So, whatever you folks are doing, keep it up! And share it with the other ROM devs. :)

Edit: here we are, 31 hours later, with 16% battery left.

trying to help haze out and figuring out what's wrong.. I managed to build it on my box with my sources.. if you guys would like to test it.

    aokp_geeb_unofficial_Mar-06-13.zip

    MD5sum - 4854471b5fb884dfd8ef6c8f896b49f2

just chatting with haze now while he's working on it on his box..

    Build Instructions

    Moved to seperate building thread.
    3
Well i've finally got all my issues sorted, or the major ones.. which were all just my stupidity as i was suspecting :p

Anyways, i'm going to be putting up a build in a little bit here. Cap keys working, havn't added nfc yet(is there still the battery drain issue??).
It'll just be base aokp build 5, havn't added any apps or tweaked anything. Just figured it had been long enough without a release. Try it out, let me know... I'll update OP when uploaded

just realized that the sounds up/down is switched still. fixed for next build but not really an issue since i'm already uploading.

Build and mirror are up, I've been running for the last hour and a bit and i've yet to reboot, not saying it's fixed but... ;) havn't had a chance to check the wifi range sod, but let me know what you find is up or not working(aside from nfc, i've held off till i hear news on battery drain i was hearing about)
    3
I re-read thru the link I posted above the previous post. Seems that the cause of the bootloops was an old version of recovery (CWM or TWRP).
If I recall correctly, I got CWM with freegee .5
    CWM version 6.0.1.5

Which recovery are u using Haze?

Use the recovery from http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2010984(he has the latest posted which has been compiled for the att to use exFAT on the ext_sdcard,
which will show errors on our Canadian phones when loaded in recovery)

You would want to use the recovery of Sk8's CWM - no sdcard exFAT errors.

As for your above post. - you can wipe cache / wipe dalvik cache / you can even go ahead and goto mounts and storage and "format /system"

    install rom
    install gapps

after flash I always do a wipe cache partition / wipe dalvik cache (since it installs a kernel)

    then reboot system
