switching mobile networks from 4G to 2G on 37p baseband/radio does not work and too many users posted the issue. ashad0509 mentioned he replaced it with some other baseband/radio to switch "atrix in to 2G". i want that to save a lot of battery.

I switched to the 100.00R de radio (even though I'm in the US) I've used this radio for months and even though its for a different carrier (and country) it gives me great reception and speeds and lets me switch to 2G only.

EDIT: I uploaded it to my dropbox. http://db.tt/I1xxPZkG

[MOD] ICS Style Settings for Neutrino 2.6 // version 1.0

screenshot-1334705693371.png

1. Download ics_settings.zip.
2. Flash via CWM. Reboot. Enjoy.

If something doesn't work or you just want to roll back to original layout - flash the undo patch.

Do we use this with the first ICS patch you gave us? Or is it over all? Like everything?

Edit: I just took the plunge and flashed both, works fine! :)

Is it okay if I just flashed faux's CM7 kernel over V2.7 GT+? I mean... the only change you brought to the edited GT and GT+ is the kernel... which is... faux's CM7 kernel, right? :D Just checking to see if there are other changes... I just flashed GT+ on a fresh wipe a few hours ago

Yes, just flash the new selected Kernel over 2.7, nothing will change except the kernel version.

Is anyone else's wifi look like its staying on (in about phone > battery use - solid blue bar across 9 hours)? I have been driving around most of the time (not connected to a wifi network or tethering). however it doesn't seem to affect battery life. And for the first time out of any neutrino version, my wifi reconnected right away when I pulled in my driveway instead of having to go to wifi settings to make it connect. Not causing any problems, just wondering.

Edit: screenshot: http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/121/screenshot1334725529331.png

Edit 2: nevermind....I never turned wifi off apparently. =P. And apparently wifi sleep policy is set to never by default now.

Thank you so much for doing this :D works great! the only thing its the "mobile networks" and the "device settings" icons seems a bit pixelated compared to the others, but its no big deal :p

I doubt it, if you cannot access recovery, you'd better flash a new one with fastboot.

Edit: on a side note, this is why Notorious instructs you to use romracer's recovery in OP. Yes, recovery is its own operating system, with its own kernel and everything, but there can still be compatibility issues involved. This is why you ALWAYS follow instructions.

damn, i installed the theme chooser just to have it, but now i can't find the theme that is originally installed anymore...
where can I download it?
I don't like the CM7 theme :/

Edit: Ok, theme is back, next problem: No Network connection.
I'm in China using "China Mobile".
With the backup rom I made if the china-retail version, everything works fine, no reboots, wifi works, network works...
I'm confused! Is this rom limited to some atrix versions?

I care to disagree. I have NEVER encountered ANY troubles with recoveries (CWM, 4EXT, TWRP), on neither of my previous 3 devices.

Still, TWRP has failed on me yesterday. After I flashed the ROM (v2.7 GT+), it rebooted itself (the recovery). It could have been because I flashed ~30 files in a succession (with wipe in between, undo`s and etc.). Anyway... for that guy's problem ---->

I don't know what might have gone wrong. How much charge was in the battery?!

How about you try a new radio? Have a look HERE, follow the instructions and... I suggest you try the asia_retail radios. You simply flash the .zip with recovery. There are only two of them (asia_retail) radio`s. If that doesn't fix it, try the gb_retail version (that's Gingerbread).

And for the theme thing... Flash the ROM again and flash the Theme Chooser addon from Xploited's signature. It works perfectly fine, at least with Xploited's ICS theme (@ Notorious).

Awesome, worked perfect! Even the reboots stopped so far. Maybe it was related...
For the theme: For some reason, after rebooting, I got the standard theme back...

The apk itself seems to work! I don't have additional themes to try. Where can I get them? CM-page?

Edit: Is there a way to teach the keyboard new languages? I always wonder why there are so many languages, but simplified chinese always is missing :(

@muhski

If you want the stylish look of Neutrino (black & white), I suggest you re-flash the ROM and flash the Theme Chooser addon from Xploited's signature. That way, you will get the Theme Chooser and the theme will remain the same (black & white).

Is there a way to teach the keyboard new languages? I always wonder why there are so many languages, but simplified chinese always is missing :(

The keyboard I use is Smart Keyboard, and even though it has a lot of languages, I don't see Chinese listed there.

The stock one... not a chance.

I suggest you search on the Market for other keyboard apps + languages, and see which one suits you best (if you find a Chinese one, that is).

Ok thanks, then I have to give the new keyboard a try...
I had Go keyboard on my play before, but the keys are kind of small...

And does anybody has some tips for battery life? When I'm whatsapping, it eats my battery like sweets :(

Has anyone seen a problem with google voice? When i install the latest version from the market on 2.7, my wireless breaks. Bluetooth refuses to turn on, and when i try to turn on wifi it just says error.

I know it's google voice because i wiped my phone last night and went app for app until it broke. Wiped it again, and only installed google voice, and wireless stuff broke as soon as i installed it. As soon as i uninstall it everything is fine again.

I can't figure out how voice is breaking this stuff, but it is.

---------- Post added at 07:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:11 AM ----------

ok, so it's not voice. I left voice uninstalled, and only have a tiny amount of apps installed. Synced to my car this morning, and 1.5 songs on slacker later the bluetooth crapped out. no idea what's wrong.

starting an individual thread for this issue.

    - Massive 54% cut in size

    Neutrino ROM = ~80mb uncompressed.

Results in a much snappier, unsluggish and fast experience.

Minimalistic styled theme, Slim Roboto fonts and bits of ICS, such as ICS animations, icons and ICS-styled settings..

    - MIUI camera
MUCH higher quality camera with touch to focus.

    - PNG Optimized/Zipaligned
Uses DarkyROM's fast zipalignment to increase RAM efficiency. All system .apk's are also PNG optimised to make .apks smaller.

    - Wi-Fi/3G tweaks
Tweaked net buffer size and added network init.d scripts for faster 3g/Wi-Fi.

    - Increased Dalvik cache to 160m
Increased efficiency with demanding apps and increases smoothness.

    - Reduced background processes
Removed CMstats as well as unnecessary Google bloatware to increase snappiness and battery life.

    - Android 4.0 ICS Fuju Tweaks
Results in ICS smoothness and responsiveness.

    - Touch response Tweaks
Better sensitivity, greater precision when typing and overall smoother scrolling and performance.

    - SD Card tweaks
Increases read/write speeds on microSD card.

    - Battery Tweaks
Adjusted and added build.prop and init.d lines to increase battery efficiency.

    - Enabled Stagefreight
    Faster video streaming.

    - V6 Supercharged
Tweak's OOM's, minfrees to improve RAM efficiency and make everything smoother.

    - FULL GPU rendering
Uses ONLY GPU to FULLY render the UI, making everything much more smooth and fluid.

    - Ext4 w/o journaling
Removes the journal from Ext4 which heavily increases I/O speeds and makes everything faster.

    - Kernel and Networking tweaks
Improves kernel efficiency as well as faster Wi-Fi and data. Also contributes to much better overall efficiency and smoothness

    - qHD Keyboard
Nice and large WP7 themed keyboard, made to fit qHD resolution.

    - I/O tweaks
Improves database efficiency, and makes everything fell fast and smooth.

    Please read before downloading

This is an enormously STRIPPED DOWN ROM. Many features YOU need may NOT be available in the base package. If there is any loss of functionality, you'll need to flash an ADDON by clicking the link below.

Before you download, ensure your contacts are saved onto your SD card or memory card. Contact/calender sync is not included natively, you must flash the 'Sync addon.'

This is a CM7 BASED ROM. So anything that doesn't work on CM7 like Webtop will NOT work on this ROM also. Please do not request non-CM7 features.
    Install Instructions:
**Firstly make sure you have the latest RomRacer's recovery!!**
Then choose to wipe using any one of the following two wiping methods:
    For clean wipe:
Moto-fastboot -w, erase system/boot/preinstall, then install from INTERNAL .ZIP!

    For easy wipe:
Go into recovery, and install from INTERNAL .ZIP!
Wiping data may not be necessary with every update, but it's best to flash clean. However, if you regularly flash the updates, you'll most likely need to wipe data at some stage anyway.
**DO NOT WIPE DATA AFTER INSTALLING!!!**
Make sure you flash the 'Lite gapps' in to get the barebone google apps.

Then, after booting, click on script manager, navigate to /system/etc and run NitroCharger.sh as ROOT and at BOOT!
It is also HIGHLY recommended to download the GPS Mod found in #2.
    Then you're done.

Q: Are you going to be working on CM9?
Yep, I'm working on it right now :)

Q: My phone doesn't boot with this ROM - it get's stuck on the dual-core screen :(
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ROMRACER'S RECOVERY!!!! CHANGE IT NOW!

Q: Why is performance settings in CMparts removed?
A lot of options in performance settings will conflict with the tweaks in this ROM. All the options in performance settings have been included in the ROM anyway, but have been optimised for the best settings. So don't worry about it. If you REALLY want to head over to performance settings, then long press on homescreen and select shortcut. Add CMparts>Performance Settings and you will gain access. But seriously, there's really no point.

Q: My phone shows that I have very low free RAM!
Here's a fat explanation on how the RAM works in Android.

Q: My phone can't scan files on my SDcard?
CM7 mounts the SDcard and internal memory opposite to Motorola. To switch back to 'stock style,' navigate to /settings/CMsettings/application > Check 'use internal storage' and reboot.

Q: Does this ROM support landscape mirroring?
    Yep.

Q: How do you get those cool 'ICS style' rings like in the screenshots?
Go to Settings/CMsettings/Lockscreen/Style options/Ring-Lock style and change to 'holo.'

Q: What does the BOOST script do?
It will 'defrag' databases, so make them smaller (faster to read, so apps will open faster) as well as freeing the caches. Do NOT run this script at boot!!!!! It is to be used if your phone starts to feel a big sluggish or laggy, then just run the script with SU and that's it.
