HOW TO ROOT YOUR PHONE:
Root
There are plenty of threads on this forum for rooting MTK6589 devices.
Xolo itself provided app for rooting called xoloroot. U can use it. (warranty will be void if u root by this method)

By far the easiest method of all.

Install, root and reboot. If release above 1.9.1 availabe you can use that also.

Recovery
U need to install custom recovery for installing custom roms, taking backup.
First download provided recovery of ur choice and follow one of the following metohds.

Using Sp flash tools
Requirements:

1. Sp Flash Tool
2. Recovery.img
3. MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt (only use this one. it is modified.)


Very Easy & safe way to FLASH CWM RECOVERY Without having PC

steps:->
1. Install drivers for your phone
2. Copy recovery.img and scatter file in new same folder
3. Extract and open the SP Flash Tools.
4. In SP Flash Tools, click on Scatter-Loading and the program will ask you the location of the scatter loading file for your device select mt6589 scatter file.txt
5.Check only recovery.img, uncheck all others. (will be checked auto)
6. Switch off your phone (Remove the battery to make sure it is switched off).
7. Click the Download option (present on the right of Firmware
> Upgrade option) and the flash tool will start looking for your phone.
8. Put Battery and Connect usb to your phone now. The Flash Tool will start the flashing process, the progress of which can be viewed from a yellow progress bar at the bottom of the flash tool.
Warning 1 - Don't interrupt this process as it can potentially brick your device.
Warning 2 - Make sure no power interruption takes place. (Use a laptop to ensure this).
9. After the process completes, a green ring will appear on your device signalling that the process was successful.
10.Disconnect your phone.

Using Mobile uncle tool
1. Downlaod CWM Recovery extract it and copy recovery.img only to root of your SD Cards
{ i.e. sdcard/recovery.img or sdcard2/recovery.img }
2: download Mobile Uncle Tools for MTK http://d-h.st/yco and install it as normal apps
3. Now open Mobile Uncle Tools apps you recently installed.
4. grant Superuser permissions
5. There click on recovery update menu
6. Then click on the recovery image name of ‘ recovery.img ’
7. Let the app install the recovery. After that apps ask you for reboot your device in to recovery?. press yes

Switch off phone. Press volume Up and Power same time to get in to CWM.

Stock firmware
This method is useful for warranty purposes and also for UNBRICKING !!!!
Also u can enjoy ur stock rom.

CUSTOM ROMS
U need to go in recovery for flashing custom rom
It is always better to make a backup of current rom before flashing any custom rom as in case anything wrong happens u can easily go back to previous rom.
Also u shud backup ur data (contacts, massages, app data) in case anything wrong happens.

I have ported here Rooted KitKat 4.4.2 ROM for XOLO Q3000.

please keep nandroid Backup ready which will be useful if you find issues in the ROM so that you can revert back to your old system.

INSTRUCTIONS/ HOW TO FLASH::

1. Download the Rom zip file from the url below
2. Put the ZIP into the ROOT of External/Internal SD Card
3. Go to Custom Recovery (CTR, CWM, OTHER)
4. Take a nandroid backup (Just for safety)
5. Wipe Data
6. Wipe Cache
7. Format / Wipe System
8. Wipe Dalvik Cache
9. Select Install From SD (Internal or External)
10. Select the zip file just yor have downloaded and Select YES
11. After installation just Reboot Your System
12. Enjoy

NOTE: CTRv2.5 recovery is included in this ROM and if you do not want this you can just delete it and go ahead with the flashing. If the owners of the phone having the kernel 3.4.5 that is the earlier model have compulsorily to flash the SP flash tool rom ported in the earlier porting by me before flashing this. As it is if they flash they may brick the phone.

I will answer ur questions one by one.
I slept for two hours or so.
now feeling ok (so less chances of spelling mistakes)

I will tell in detail what i was doing--
I was making a stock deodexed rom.
I searched and searched for two days and complied all required files.

I got all wrong in updater script.
I flashed the rom, it booted till boot animation and stopped.

I understood later that this is cause i changed my partition (internal and phone) due to kitkat.
and it all become mess.
I first lost my imei.
I tried all above methods u mentioned but all in vein.
So i flashed jb s003 (my basic), s011 (from kishan) and kitkat back and forth.

meanwhile i accidentally flashed the attached recovery.img. No offense mohan sir i didn't know it was posted or gave by u.
sorry for that and i am not taking any credit for it.
I have 5 ctr (2.0,2.1,2.2,2.4,2.5) and 4 cwm (6015, 5504, 6028 - which u gav later) and 2 twrp and 3 Philz for our device.
most of them from spanish site for our phone clone BQ aquaris 5.7.
so i am also confused which i flashed every-time

So when i flashed 6028 i came to know it was kitkat running. i cant take backup as there is invalid imei error. then i eventually got into series of events (including changing my desktop os from windows 7 to xp) i finally achieved my phone back to normal (this is what i refereed my success)

So i can defiantly say u can flash kitkat from this thread and use cwm 6028 and use it as normal cwm.
the best part is u can use it on jb also.
backup taken by it can be used in ctr and vice versa.
(i couldn't tested the efficiency of backups - so that we can easily migrate from jb to kk or reverse easily - it should be future work for us)
However i always flash recovery from flashtools. haven't tried mobile uncle tool yet.
u can boot in recovery by power and vol +.

I am not a developer so i was not trying to create recovery-
but i was trying to make and unsecured boot.img file.
which corrupted my boot partition too

I bricked my phone so badly that i cant change imei anyways.
afterwords it failed to boot totally not even boot logo.
(so u can imagine my happiness after it boots)

So i will post some extract of my whole procedures

Its better to have windows xp side-by when u doing all these things. ( software's are Chinese and no drivers for windows 7)

U should have sp flash tools multiple versions (at least 2-3)

And most important u should never hesitate to try.


The procedure worked for me is this.

I did it 15 times and last time i succeeded.


So i used sp flash tools and formatted whole phone.
then downloaded the same rom. (options in sp flash tools)

this is to rewrite ur nvram (imei, wifi, bluetooth related).
Be-live me i tried every possible way to write nvram (copy pest backup, mtktools etc)

I also learned how to flash ro without battery .i..e. meta mod formatting

we can also flash nvram from flash tools.
Just open your scatter file with any text editor, find a __NODL_NVRAM section and remove __NODL_ part from it. Reopen scatter in SP Flash Tool and you'll be able to check NVRAM partition.

Nvram file lies in our flash files tools (APDB_MT6589..... & BPLGUInfoCustomAppSrcP_MT6589.....)

then i could write imei's back using imei&sn writer v1.5.3.rar.
I tried 7 different software's which wont run on windows 7 at all. so need to revert to xp.

I know this will be second biggest post of this thread after the first post.

So final words
1..we got cwm for kitkat now. Start testing please.
2..we can get phone working from any possible bad condition (software errors not hardware)
3..we can use meta mode for flashing.
4..Never mess with the tiniest file of a custom rom i.e. updater-script. (Present inside meta-inf folder)
5..android kitchen and cygwin need to improve now (they have all old methods) which actually helped me to write ur own script.:good:


My (our to be more precise) next projects will be
testing cwm 6028 for kk to jb or jb to kk in few clicks (or presses -this is not touch recovery).

Making working roms

I made two differnt versions
1. pure stock, deodexed, zipalined, rooted, init.d, busybox, s011 version (thanks to kishan again)
2. all above + loooots of tweaks.

have system folder and boot.img
i just need to compile it in a flashable zip (which should work properly) so please help me.

Mr. kishan already ported colour os for our device and porting MIUI.
