guys can you please try to not repost my exact instruction that are already posted in the OP? I mean we dont need a ton of the same posts with the same instructions, come on guys...

To be honest, I don't steal your work, I don't copy a single word from the OP. Perhaps looks similar, because it does the same think. I just want to help readers if only they didn't succeed flashing bootloader, my post will be an alternative. I don't mean to compete with you ;).
Sorry!

Are you sure you're not confusing people with this: "2a. Rename The File To "4.18.img" so take off a .img"

should state rename file 4.18
The file will rename an image, since MANY on here dont have extensions of files being shown ;)

#JustSaying :)

well you can see the extra .img line when you download the file before hand, yeah i guess you could rename it just to 4.18

if i already on 4.2.2 have to flash 4.18?and how to check bootloader version?thx you

If you are on 4.2.2 with an older bootloader and everything is fine, there's no NEED to update it (like me, bootloader was the older 3.x and it worked just fine, adb flashed the zip file directly from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 with no issues. I decided to bring it up-to-date like the rest and it took less than 10 minutes to prepare & flash it, quick & simple.

To check your verison, restart into bootloader - and it will show your verison on the first screen.

Re: [BOOTLOADER][4.2.2] JDQ39 4.18 FASTBOOT FLASH Image Instructions

if i update the bootloader to 4.18? do i need wipe or factory reset?

Nope just flash and reboot and you're all done.

I plan to update the bootloader just for the much faster boot time if nothing else even though the previous version is working fine. I'm just waiting for the hope that I can avoid fastboot since that means that I have to start my laptop.

Yeah I'm still waiting for a flashable zip. I dropped my tablet once and now it's gone kinda crazy. The usb connector doesn't work perfectly anymore. My laptop and desktop both say it's malfunctioned T___T

If someone need, I made a flashable zip.
You can flash via recovery.

Didn't work for me... Nothing happened when I flashed it.

Ok, it looks like my mistake...

I temporary remove the file, try to fix....

sorry guys....

edit: When I made the zip, after I tried one of my grouper, after I checked, the bootloader was 4.18 (so i tought the zip working, and I sucessfully update my bootloader via recovery), but I flahed in the wrong device, because this device has 4.18 bootloader already, so it was my mistake.
I tired in my another grouper (4.13 bootloader) and I realized the zip not working....
Actually I can't fix the zip...

Since i cant seem to make a flashable zip right now im just going to tell how to install it using Fastboot
But if i ever do find a way to make it flashable i will post it here right away

    1. Download The ADB and Fastboot Tools: HERE
    2. Download The 4.23 Image File: HERE
2a. Rename The File To "4.23.img" so take off a .img
2b. Put The IMG File In Where Your Fastboot Files Are
    3. Reboot To Your Bootloader On You Nexus 7 (Power off power button and volume down until you see bootloader screen)
    4. Connect Your Nexus 7 To Your Computer
    5. Open Up Command Prompt
    6. CD to where your fastboot tools were downloaded
    maybe: C:\Users\Alex\Downloads\platform-tools
    7. Then type:
fastboot devices (to see if its connected correctly)
    fastboot flash bootloader 4.23.img
    fastboot reboot
    8. Then Reboot Back To Your Bootloader And See If It Installed Correctly

FLASHABLE ZIP HERE 4.23 Bootloader- DOWNLOAD DOESNT WORK.....

Dont Forgot To Press Thanks! Enjoy!

IF FASTBOOT DIDNT WORK FOR YOU DOWNLOAD THESE FILES: HERE
    THEN FOLLOW THESE INSTUCTIONS: HERE

I just learned the coolest trick that for me makes fastboot flashing much easier. I'm on Windows 8 and my default platform tools location is a mile long and I always type it wrong. I just learned that you can open the file you want to be in, hold shift, right click, open command prompt here... Who knew? So simple, and I had no idea that shortcut existed!

Thanks for giving us quick access to the new bootloader, flashed fine in fastboot.
