I tried both. I also did this. I installed the thor Rom from TO and I got the GPS fix. But I don't like that Rom, I prefer civato's. I don't know the difference between these 2 Rom in managing GPS but the other one worked for me, and this one not.

Inviato dal mio A500 con Tapatalk 2

Only other thing I could suggest unless you already tried is to do a FULL wipe (see OP) which will erase everything on the internal SD card also.

. . . . (snip) by default however I use the min/max patch to prevent the cpu from overclocking, thus just installing the kernel provides undervolt functions (that can save battery if you use it) and extra speed to the graphics card when needed. Then if you wish you can also OC but you must manually set that up. . . . . (snip)

I've already seen that the kernel alone provides a small performance benefit, even without SetCPU. I am familiar with the min/max settings, but the only reference to a min/max patch I found was a discontinued reference to the Galaxy. Also, can you recommend a useful reference to proper methods of using undervoltage settings. That subject is not covered nearly as much as OC-ing.
Thanks for these resources!

By the way, if I want to underclock with setcpu, do I need to check the box Set On Boot? I thought I read that was only necessary for overclock. It's rare, but sometimes I under clock for a long travel day. Not sure if that really saves me battery but that's my thinking.

Hi Civato,

With the latest v6 Ics bootloader,

can we use these two kernels ( one in each partition)?
1° Flexreaper-RF1_rv3-TO-RF-EXTREEM.zip in the default (primary)
2° ICSbootloader_users-RF1-EXTREEM-TW3.zip (or another one, like ICSbootloader_users-RF1-GPS-TWEAK-1.033.00(build in RF1)
in the secondary ?

( I ask that because you removed explanations and 'scripts' to flash partition one or two.)
V5-V6-PRIMARY-Kernel-installer.zip and
V5-V6-SECONDARY-kernel-installer.zip

Can we use those scripts as you explained some days ago?

KR

Well, I just flashed this, and my opinion is no. I happened to be booting from the secondary slot when I flashed it, and it flashed ok, but when I booted up I was unable to turn wifi on at all. I changed the boot to the primary slot and rebooted, and then wifi would turn on and worked fine. In both cases, the settings -> about said that I had the EXTREEM kernel.

That is probably why civato furnished a "go back" zip.

As to battery life, it's too early to tell, but as initially installed, this defaults to 1ghz and pretty much the stock stuff, so if it is never changed, it should render battery life very similar to stock. If you don't have setcpu, you probably wouldn't overclock it anyway.

For my purposes, this will be better than having two slots to switch between saving battery life and speed, since you can do it on the fly with setcpu, and have Profiles, etc. If it doesn't have any compatiblity issues, this is likely to be better.

Thanks again, civato !!

Not possible to use the stock as secondary kernel without losing the wifi .
Why?
Well because the overclocking kernel uses other modules.
And just using a secondary kernel works but with that the modules are not changed..

Want to save power , set your clock speed lower, can be easily done with set CPU you find it for free on xda.
You can make profiles etc......screen off.
And it is faster to change clock speed with tool then reboot and boot secondary kernel.

The new extreme kernel is great. Thee tablet is much more responsive with a slight overclock.

Always set on boot, and you can drop voltage a little , just test it.

Wifi Sleep

Prior to yesterday when waking tablet up I was greeted by "No Internet Connection" until screen was unlocked when it immediately connected. After flashing lots of kernels (forward and backwards) over the past couple of days I've noted that this no longer happens and the wifi appears to be continually connected. As the setting in Advanced Wifi Settings has not changed, is this a function of all of the kernel changes or is there a setting in this fine ROM I can make to insure it goes off when asleep? Thx!

Settings/wifi/right upper corner advanced settings.

As noted in my original question, Wifi Advanced Settings have not changed and remain set to never keep wifi awake when asleep, which is why this is of issue. Thank you --Larry

Solved my own question via experimentation. Using the RF-EXTREEM-TO-RF1_rv3.zip package I reverted (again) to "stock" Flexreaper and wifi standby status returned to normal. That leads me to conclude that either the OC-capable boot.img or kernel has a setting that keeps the wifi active. Not exactly sure where to go from here, but I'll add the patches and then the EXTREEM package to see if I can tell exactly where it changes. --Larry

Try going into Settings | Wifi and just turn it on. I've found that sometimes that happens the first time after flash.

That's the problem....the main wifi screen says "turning wifi on" but it just sits there. Trying to move the on/off button for wifi does nothing.

Edit: reverted to my back up and all is good, so must have been some sort of conflict.

Good. You did install to the primary partition with the bootloader, correct? Earlier in this thread there was an issue about the modules required for full function and how some features (such as wifi) would not work if not booted primary.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING PLEASE BE SURE TO BE ON THE ICS UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER.
HOW TO DO THIS UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER THING?

For Aroma installer you need to be on one of the following custom recovery's
    ezterry's A500PubRecovery
    or
    TWRP 2.1.3 (not 2.2...)
    or
    Thor 1.7.3
    or
    ra-recovery 3.17 (recovery-ra-iconia-3.17-gnm)

    INSTALLATION
-first take a full nandroid backup !
-First time installing this rom = wipe all , factory reset , format and make sure to format flexrom!!!
-flash rom first with cwm or RA recovery
    -Reboot and do your settings.
-Now you can use the Aroma packages or mods

If you got problems please before posting them do the following.

    Performe a REAL format....
    here's how to on cwm:

go to in recovery enter "Backup and Restore" and click on "Toggle backup and restore of internal storage (/data/media)"
    should say enabled....
then go into "Mounts and Storage" and "format /data"
this will REALLY format data and you will loose all you have in the in the internal memory.

    Goodbye

As I already mentioned this is my goodbye to the active community.
I will still jump in to read some stuff but active support or new rom releases is just not for me anymore.
Life got other plans for me.

I joined XDA as a noob and to be honest I still feel a noob compared to some of the supurb dev's here on XDA.
    I would like to say thanks to ezterry , thor2002ro , vache , spica1234 , Stefan Gündhör , Skrilax_CZ , blackthund3r , Euclid's Brother , smaury , Moscow Desire and many more.............
In some way each of you helped me doing my thing.
I probably made some people mad but no hard feelings from my part.

    MOVED TO OP (first post)
You can use all the aroma packages of the flexreaper rom and kernels from the OP
    .
CUSTOM RELIX bootloader V8 cwm flashable , only for V4 and up ICS bootloader users)
