I installed it 2 hours ago. So far not good. Rough really. I had a random reboot, there was a point when no app could open properly (froze trying then had to FC them), I had to do 2 battery pulls from freezes, first one random, second one after changing the governor from smartassv2 to smartass hoping that would help. Still had to apply the keyboard fix even though I gave him the zip in IRC last night.

Search works by default, have not tested MMS, and the camera works better. Might restore my pb6 backup. Pb7 could not start maps or play store.

Link to the updated kernel please? Think that would help. Still have to apply the mms apk fix huh? And I had the same issues with playground too :|

Hit menu > System settings > System > Navigation bar

However it doesn't seem to be working. At least I can't get it to work. But what's the point of the bar if we already have these soft keys?

Sent from my HTC Evo Shift using XDA

Lol yeah I thought he put that setting in for people who already had navbar running so you can edit it. But someone told me that you can change a few things in your system files to get navbar working.

A couple more bugs I'm experiencing.
When I call someone and put them on speakerphone before they answer, I get muted, even if I turn speakerphone off. To get it to work, call someone, let them answer, then place them on speakerphone.

Also, I could not get a GPS lock. Navigation was stuck looking for a GPS signal and Maps closed when I tried to search something (it was also a blank image). Any fixes for this?

On pb8 by the way.

Does MMS work by default for pb8? I used the MMS apk fix in this thread, and that fixed MMS in pb7 but now it's stuck sending on pb8. I think I'll just reflash I suppose. So, wipe data/cache, flash ROM, reboot, wipe cache, flash keyboard fix, reboot, flash updated kernel with suggested app by Tiamat. Right?

Make sure you're doing a FULL wipe... It doesn't hurt to go through and format cache/data/system. Less of a chance of things being left behind on a fresh flash.

But I always do full wipes.
In recovery I do wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition before flashing any ROM.

Which recovery are you using?

ClockworkMod Recovery.

ClockworkMod Recovery.

I am guessing he is talking about going into the 'mount' option and wiping cache/data/system in there. I usually wipe each a few times before a fresh install of a new rom

Just fyi, just doing a factory reset and wiping cache is not a full wipe. I would suggest at least formatting system along with your normal wipe routine.

its hard enough supporting 1 device let alone 4. the evo LTE is my main device, and has had most of my 'dev' time lately, and my other time has gone to health issues. I built speedy off of cm so i can get a device tree ready for cm so hopefully you all can get nightlies sooner then later... im sorry i was trying to better the shift community.
what is it that i have or havent done that is making sparkso so mad? all my source is on my personal github and the playground github. i just dont understand what the problem is here. I never dropped support for any devices, its just been a little longer between updates, cause the device pretty much is almost fully working. things that are not fixed are not easy fixes, or they would have been done long ago. Im sorry if i offended u in any way, but i think you have me confused with some other devs. Anyways, i hope this clears some stuff up for everybody.

No, i did NOT drop support for the evo shift.
Yes, there will be updates in time.

Ok dude, where again did he say he was going to do this in the first place? Why even say he's going to do it when you don't even know if it's going to happen? Why can't he just speak for himself and post his own comments on here lol? Uploading something to cm-gerrit takes like 5 minutes if that but you seem to know more than I do..

yo bro relax. the only reason there are cm builds gong on is so that cm can add my device tree and start nightles if it comes to that, no i am not moving onto cm, and yes you need to relax, get off the bath salts, and start coding something yourself with that attitude.

    -deck

EDIT: i dont owe you anything nor will i ever. its attitudes like your's that make me want to stop support on the shift. #realtalk

thanks guys! I hear that WiMAX will never work on ICS due to no source... that's a damn shame! The only thing holding me back from ICS roms are the lack of WiMAX, since I tether WiMAX quite a bit on Gingerbread!

Well... We will have a fully functioning sense 3.6 ics rom... The evo design, same chip (msm 7630) just had a leak drop... I personally have been working on it and so have some other developers as well... Mark my words... We will have 3.6 ics with camera and wimax...

I kinda use MMS with my girlfriend for ... sharing pictures ... and junk
