Yes, please tell.
I'm interested in these as well...

Rivendel, what booleans do you change to enable sms / mms? I might make a toggle for this at some stage, however it will not make it into a release (which is getting closer).

Hello solarnz,

i change 2 values:

<bool name="config_voice_capable">true</bool>
<bool name="config_sms_capable">true</bool>

in res\values\bools.xml.

In the everest build the sms feature is disabled until build 66, so where do
you get the builds for an enabled SMS, would save me some time.

Rivendel

Did u try pushing Mms.apk? No... please try that over the new build, it worked for me without Modding framework. I don't care wheather the framework is updated or not.

I think I might have broken my Xoom (MZ601). After installing this, I went to select WCDMA only in the phone settings (*#*#4636#*#*) and I'm now unable to get a network no matter what I try. Have swapped sim cards, wiped, restored, nothing works.

Under the same phone settings, I noticed that there's only "USA Band" in select radio band. could that be the cause?

Yes i tried :) Sending a SMS failed.
So for all others i contiunue to release the framework ;)

I just extracted mms.apk from rivendel 2.0 archive, and, (eventually) copied it to /system/apps

the actual sms application from messaging icon opens OK, but, tablet won't accept inbound SMS - so I guess the framework is not yet ? modified ?

build 69 eos everest

any chance of providing rivendel for build 69, please

Had the same problem, tried all sorts of things to make it work again. What I did was go back to a stock 3.1 provider firmware. Being in Australia I used Telstra rom. I flashed boot, system, data and recovery. At that point the 3g radio still wont work, Let it do the OTA updates to bring it to 3.2.2 and it will start working, I think one of the OTA updates flashes the modem and or bootloader and resets it to the correct band.

I could then go back to a custom rom and it was all good, I make sure I stay away form the band settings in future.

Mine was a mz601 also.

Here are my framework-res.apks for build 72,73 and 74.
SMS/MMS and voice is enabled.
Mic/Sound is not working, I only need voice to send USSD codes.

If you want to use Androids default SMS/MMS program then copy Mms.apk to /system/app .

You can't install this file with androids build in installer.
This is not a regular program.

Your device must be rooted to install this.

1. Backup your original file from /system/framework/framework-res.apk to your sdcard.

2. Rename the downloaded file to framework-res.apk

3. Now you must mount your /system partition read-write (rw)
Use Root-Explorer or any other filemanager that can do this.

4. Copy the renamed file to /system/framework/framework-res.apk

5. Reboot your device

Thats all.

Here are my framework-res.apks for build 72,73 and 74 as flashable images.
They are the same as in post above but flashable through recovery.

SMS/MMS and voice is enabled.
Mic/Sound is not working, I only need voice to send USSD codes.

If you want to use Androids default SMS/MMS program then flash Mms_recovery.zip also.

How to install?
1. Download the zip file according to the build of EOS you use.
2. Make a backup of the original file (/system/framework/framework-res.apk). (important!)
3. Boot into recovery.
4. Flash the framework-res_buildXX.zip file.
[5. Optionally flash Mms_recovery.zip file.]

Only build74 is tested, use at your own risk ;)

    Hi guys,

I am new to xoom, but with my little skills I have modded the Framework-res.apk for umts_everest/MZ601 on TeamEOS nighlty ICS build. I used framework from nightly build 8. If required will update this in future. I have tested SMS feature. Have not tested the SIP as I do not have access. Telephony works but as a well known fact mic and speakers are not supported yet so its almost useless.

I have tested it on latest build nightly 10 it works well, however please backup ROM before flashing.

A Word of caution, flash this MOD at your own risk, Please do not blame me for bricked devices

    How to flash:
Just download the update.zip attached, copy it to SDCARD.
Enter recovery and backup the ROM first.
Now flash the MOD and reboot.

The Latest Version can be found here [Build Version 79]
