I use swiftkey and when ever the keyboard is up, i get an icon in the status bar.
Is there anyway to disable this from happening?

Is it a SwiftKey icon or the native Android 'select input method' icon? If it is the latter, other than modding yourself, there is an xposed mod for that, I think.
