Stock bootanimation files

Here you are. The Boot Animation Files!
In the Micromax A110 there are two files for the bootanimation. They are bootanimation.zip and shutanimation.zip. I'm including both the files as attachments.

I have been reading all this post.. lots of post.. all those page and no one is actually talking about GPS issue,

I have simple question..
Can you lock GPS if
Location Services --> Google's Location Services
is Turned off ?

Because I feel this phone's real GPS never works, only network based works.

Does this really have GPS in built

My GPS with Google Location Service on takes 1-2 second to get locked or basically when I start Maps .. its already locked. But if thats unchecked, it never locks, while I have samsung device, in that it actually locks to real satellite even if Google Location service is disabled along with AGPS disabled..

Changing your Boot Animation

Hey guys, the boot animation which comes with the Micromax A110 isn't so impressive. So how about a new boot animation?

For the A110, there are two files, bootanimation.zip and shutanimation.zip which are actually the same. The bootanimation.zip is for when the phone boots up and the shutanimation.zip when you power off the phone.

Option 1
You could search for a boot animation online.
For this you could use droidiser's tutorial on the same from here.

Option 2
You could cook up one at Android Kitchen (AK).
Here, go to the Bootanimation tab. Check the 'Use this mod' box.
Don't bother about the 'Select place for bootanimation'.
For the next drop down menu, the A110 has a resolution of 480x854, so the second option of hdpi(480x800) would be fine.
Now below that there is a list of all the boot animations available at AK.
Click on the radio buttons to get a preview. Select the one you like and go to the Summary tab one after the Bootanimation tab. Then click on Submit Work to kitchen and then to the pick up page link and wait for your file to cook up.
You would get a download link. Download the file. Unzip that file where you would get the bootanimation.zip file.
Take a backup of your original bootanimation.zip file which is located at /system/media.
(I have uploaded the original boot animation files in my previous post.)
Now copy the extracted file to the above path to replace your original boot animation. And you're DONE.

The A110 has another boot animation file when it powers off. So, if you want to change that too, then repeat the above steps and just rename the file to shutanimation.zip and then overwrite this to the same path above.
Remember to backup the shutanimation.zip file also.

There is also a boot logo right before the boot animation begins. Will post soon on how to put in a custom one, which actually would be replacing the boot_logo file at /system/media/images

I'm using the CIA loading as my boot animation and scribble as my shut animation. They really look cool. Hope this works out well for you guys too.

Hey, AK says that the zips need to be flashed via cwm...
so is a flash required or does a simple copy paste work?

i mean pasting the zip file found in the system/media of the cooked "rom" to the phone's system/media...
works?

Read the steps again. The A110 has a resolution of 480x854. A boot animation of the resolution 480x800 can be made at AK which works! ;)

I'll try to make the S3 one once I get back home, since I don't have the softwares needed here.

I tried what you did and got the same result. If the Google location services is disabled, then there is no GPS lock. With that enabled I get a lock within a couple of seconds.

Logically the GPS alone should connect for locations but not sure.

And I'm not aware of other devices.

Dude,

I have already tried and have been successful in changing the boot logo image (the static boot image that comes before the animation).. there are actually two, the first one from the kernel and the second one is the boot logo.

if you have a the SG3 boot logo image try it yourself. BTW there are two more methods that you can find if you search for the boot image post in XDA user Yuweng's signature.

Pls note that GPS will not lock with Google Service Locations turned on, as the maps app is only showing location symbol(the blue ring) based on wifi and cell tower

Come on MMX A110 owners, let's start some serious development on this phone !!!
I shall try my best to keep the O.P. updated.

Sign this Petition to try to persuade Micromax to arrange Kernel source for their device and release them for further development of the phones.
    30
After lots of hard work and studies of the chipset I have successfully overclocked the CPU to 1.2Ghz along with tons of other improvements
According to my tester sheshuvadrevu, the performance has reached to high level and has marginally reached to that of Jellybean and this will be amazing when the kernel will be JB compatible.
    Checkout the screenshots attached.

Secondly, I am postponing the release to 5 March 2013 becasue there is lots to come in the first release and will be super-power packed!
I am going to start with Jellybean compatibility tomorrow so as to convert the upcoming kernel to a cross-compatible common kernel ;)

I know after seeing this post many of you are going to be impatient especially after checking screenshots :p but to get best of the best you need patience :D

    Cheers!

    Codename: The Nature Feast.
    ETA: 28-March-2013
The timespan required is enough to tell you all that something unexpected and exciting is stuffed in, maybe this will bring a revolution in custom ROM development for this device ;)
