This looks awesome! Just one thing: some sources I've seen say it has the Mali 400 gpu, while others say it has an AMD Z430. Has anyone actually bought it? The cotton candy looks tempting as well!

I just played Angry Birds at 1080p on my TV and that just blew my mind. They have 1GB RAM models in stock right now for $95 at mk802shop dot com.

I just received the Chinese one and it's exactly the same after changing the language to English in Android. I gotta say I'm pretty impressed.

Meh.. It looks interesting but I'm just going to wait for my Raspberry Pi. Got one shipping out mid June.

Waited for that RaspberriPi for almost 2 years and than my trust in it was completely shuttered by the moronic mistakes the foundation made. And then the nerve shipping repaired boards?? I really canceled my order as soon as they where not able to deliver and am happy with my decision especially as the Raspberry will not even touch the specs of this little baby.

---------- Post added at 10:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 AM ----------

I ordered mine last week. Hope it ships soon! :) Post when you get it with impressions!

I will as there seems to be some confusion about the specs about the speed 1 or 1.5 and about the wireless b/g or b/g and n.

Play Store access?

Hi Folks,

I've just pre-ordered one of these off Aliexpress.

I had a look at the videos and one of them implied that apps can be downloaded from the Android Market (old video), but I previously read elsewhere that that would not be possible. Could someone who's already got one of these be able to confirm whether Play Store access is possible or whether one of the other app stores needs to be used?

Also, the Aliexpress store only offer the 512MB version. Is the 1GB version noticably better?

Has anyone come across any major shortcomings?

I saw on one site it said b/g/n for connectivity, then I see somewhere else that is only supports b/g. Anyone receive this yet to confirm? Also what will everyone be using for controls?

I think it will be only b/g. I'm interested at the "stick" but I dont know how good is the i the interface with mouse and keyboard.

Interesting to see Android moving to other things beyond Mobile. Love the price point.

Why would anyone do that? Who are you?

Bought the mk802, was working fine. Switched it off and moved it to my TV. Now it's back to stock with no apps and settings (I didn't factory reset) and it wont let me install any applications.. I think cutting the power may have damaged something...

Since there are no backup firmwares I was wondering if someone was nice enough to post a system pull.. or more specifically etc/vold.fstab which I think has been corrupted.

---------- Post added at 09:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:23 AM ----------

I just started to look at this little gadget a couple days ago. Thanks for the information posted. Now I'm even more curious. First, any idea if the system is rooted already, possible to install app from sd or is it from play only? Second is the resolution info listed:
    Resolution: 1280 x 672
    Refresh Rate: 51.373
I thought this would be HD display but it's even a bit short of 720p. Has anyone try to play movies and comment on the quality of display? Thanks!

From when mine was working it was running at a screen resolutions of 720p then to 1080p (according to my TV).

I managed to stream a 1080p copy of a movie from a PLEX server to the device with no lag. Ran fine... however I'm not 100% sure that it was playing at 1080p... PLEX does transcode... It looked better than DVD though.

The most disappointing thing about the MK802 is that it was advertised as 1.5GHz when I bought it. It comes underclocked to only 60% of this.

Using CPUSpy, I can see the processor runs at only 912MHz.

I can't increase this using SetCPU. Hopefully there will be a new kernel released at some stage allowing overclocking to 1.5GHz, but the manufacturer has said that there are overheating issues.

The Allwinner A10 (Cortex A8) has a singlecore 1GHz and a GPU Mali 400 (500MHz). The chinese are add the 2 procesors and write 1,5GHz :D
