Do you possibly think this issue has been posted about enough. Roach is well aware of the problem so give it a rest.

Hi.

I have a standard non G Transformer and now I'm seeing a lot of battery usage due to the Mobile Data options being enabled in 1.9. My battery usage stats are showing Mobile standby at the top consuming 72%! I guess Android is constantly polling the non existent radio device perhaps.

The Mobile options are greyed out in the Wireless and Network settings. Is there a way to completely disable the Mobile Data to stop the battery drain? Or perhaps a patch to disable it on non G devices?

Awesome ROM otherwise :)

Thanks!

I can confirm this problem too. Battery has gone down to 48% in just a couple hours since flashing to 1.9 with only a little web browsing..... usually I am still over 60% after a whole day of heavy use.

Mobile data standby is eating it all up, even with all options disabled. I am going back to 1.8.4 til this is fixed, this is literally like 5 to 6 times more battery consumption than any previous Prime build.

Sorry, hope you didn't think I was being a ****! That wasn't my intention at all...

In the meantime, I was going to try running a supposedly universal "mobile data" deactivator script to see if it fixes the problem.

a.mcdear- am wandering if you are running a battery mod?

EDIT: flashed prime1.9 a few hrs ago.. and even though disabled 'mobile standby' is already 3x screen battery usage.. lol

Unchecked "Data enabled" in "Mobile networks" on the "Wireless & networks" Settings screen.

Rebooted.

"Battery use" still shows "Cell standby" at around 30%.

You might want to read back a couple of pages before you start having a go at people. THIS issue is regarding 1.9's enabling of Data (3G). I'm sure if you check back, you will not see "Cell standby" occupying the primary position in your "Battery use" screen.

I know very well how "WIFI" disconnect policies work. Please take some time to read in future.

The rom isnt even 24 hours old yet. Ignore the stats which I think report Mobile Data Usage wrongly since the TF101 has no mobile data card and let experience be the test of whether this rom uses battery life at 6 times the norm.

Personally my TF hasn't been on charge for 15 hours and it's sitting at 99% with the dock showing 69%

The Battery stats also report that Mobile Standby has consumed 33% of the power but I had forgotten to disable the 'Data enabled' setting in the Mobile network options.

If Mobile data is solely responsible for causing a large drain in the battery then I will make a rom which does not include it. Bear in mind that 1.9 was specifically to enable these settings so I appreciate all feedback on actual battery consumption and not just perceived consumption which could be caused by other factors.

As a test if someone has the spare time I would be interested to see know how long 1.8.4 lasts on a full charge after a full wipe with no additions vs 1.9 with the same setup.

cell standby :/

I had to quote these bigass screenshots lol

Is it me or does your standby usage look to be the same as before you flashed the rom?

Also, the time in the 2nd shot is earlier than the first yet the battery stats show a longer timeframe. Have you calibrated your battery recently as it may be overdue?

prime 1.9 is a downgrade not an upgrade

With 1.9 tablet runs slow its laggy even if oc. I cant even watch youtube videos at the 360 setting because it lags ridiculously. Typing delay is really bad, didnt have this problem on 1.8 let alone 1.4. Hope this gets fixed soon

How am I supposed to help with such little information or are you just venting?

Is the whole tablet slow or just the browser? Is your internet connection ok? Have you performed a wipe to see if this helps? Have you tried using the flash fix? - http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1236253

I haven't flashed over my 1.8.4 yet because there seems to be such an obvious uproar, but is the javascript typing delay in the browser back? Because it was certainly fixed real nicely in 1.8.4, and I get a solid 10+ hours out of my TF on a full charge each day commuting to college.

uh. love the idea of 3g support, and maybe it even works but..... did anybody here try to set an APN yet? I can't as there isn't a save button and back just goes back without saving. I'm not even sure my stick is working (I did disable the composite mode) as it won't even search for networks. Am I doing something wrong, or I'm just the first to stumble into a possible bug?
BTW: Vodafone K4505, it's Huawei.

The only issue appears to be that the battery may be draining faster due to the TF looking for a modem that doesn't exist. I am investigating this and I'm sure I will have something concrete soon.

I wouldn't call it an uproar though, a few people have posted feedback on a new mod that I have implemented on request that probably needs some further refinement before it is 100% stable.

You may still need to use one of the 3g scripts floating about the forums. I don't have a link to any though.
I am also waiting on the delivery of a Huawei e1750 which I can hopefully use to assist me in getting the 3g mod fully operational.

Sorry for that I was on my TF at the time.

That's an old screenshot and you can see I get considerably more usage out of it. I was on pandora while browsing(multiple tabs), had adobe open and played angry birds.

Today - during this short while I was in class with the brightness on lowest(lights were off for presentation) and that steep drop in my previous post is after a 1 hour lecture.

I want to state that 1.9 clearly is smoother than 1.8.4. The battery thing will probably get resolved quickly one way or the other. Myself, I have decided that for the next couple days I will stick with 1.9 and just keep my charger on hand, hoping that the problem will not stick around too long...

I see red people.
@Roach, fwiw, my battery usage shows the same as others with respect to "cell standby" (says using 76% of battery usage) and "mobile network signal" (bar is solid red for the entire time been on battery) using the bulk of my battery . . . but . . . my battery isn't draining near as much as others. I've been on battery power for 4h 19m, and I'm at 93%, this with moderate online usage. I have k9 mail pushing 3 accounts, and Touchdown pushing an Outlook account. I've added Xoom button mod and I have wifi set to turn off with screen (my usual setup). Realize this is just anecdotal, but it appears to contrast with what others are seeing.

anytime i have problems with gps, i go into "gps status" app from the market and 'reset gps config data' then download new a-gps data, then restart my tablet. usually solves the problem.

Note that this only works from the home screen and looks weird when you go in to standby from within an app.
If you display does bork then sometimes a long press of the power button (2 secs) brings it back. Once though my display blacked out and I had to hard reboot the tab.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NVFLASH VERSION CAN ONLY BE USED ON AN SBK1 DEVICE

Q: Do I need to root before I flash this.
A: No, Simply use the Latest NVFLASH version available to install a custom rom and clockworkmod recovery. Then if required, upgrade to the latest version of Prime.

Q: Do I need to wipe before installing Prime?
A: In general a wipe should not be required if you are upgrading from an earlier version of Prime but if you experience any sluggishness or are coming from another rom then a wipe Should be performed before installing the rom. My advice is to take a backup before installing any rom, give it a try and if you get any errors or issues then perform a factory reset either from Settings - Privacy or perform a wipe from Clockworkmod Recovery.

Q: Do 3G USB Dongles work with this
A: Currently only HUAWEI dongles are working. The 3G settings can be activated by using the 3G Toggler App.

A: Zion is where free humans live.

    Alright.

In general, it is ok to remind members to ask questions in the General or Q&A section of a forum. It is NOT ok to make them point of ridicule if they make a mistake.

Consider this a warning. I will start infracting or banning if this behaviour continues.

    Let's continue DEVELOPMENT in here.
