Root for E10i

Hi all!

So i finished the Root.
(Many thanks to bitluni for dumping the fota path)

At this very moment you cannot apply the root to all devices.
For now we are not able to downgrade with X10flash tool, thats why the root is only applyable if you are on the right software version.
I'm working on this problem!

So first download please the main root package:

Then you can download the fota.package for you (more will come):

If you are currently on Firmware 37 VFE-1-8:
http://rapidshare.com/files/409979325/VFE-18-37.rar

If you are currently on Firmware 36 WORLD-1-8:
http://rapidshare.com/files/409989811/World-1-8-36.rar

If you are currently on Firmware 38 WORLD-1-8:
http://rapidshare.com/files/409989990/World-1-8-38.rar

If you downloaded main package and Fota.package please extract both!
You have to copy the fota.pkg file into the Fota Folder which is located in the Root Folder!

Howto:
Please enable USB-Debugging in your phone and connect the usb-cradle.
Run the "RootME.bat" it will guide you through the process!

I got:

Firmware: 1.6
Baseband: Unknown
Kernel: 2.6.29 SEMCUser@SEMCHost#1
Build: 1.0.A.1.38

And debug menu (MBBMBMMB) gives me.

Phone Software Version: 1235-3408_1.0.A.1.38 GENERIC - user
File System Version: WORLD-1-8_1.0.A.1.38

Will this root work for me?

And is there a guide on for this root?

is it possible to just change the version info in the .package
to make it compatible with other versions?

nice work tanks lot

if the fotas are just diffs.. how about
gaining root with a fixed one by you
making complete copy of the rooted system
and build a complete fullcustom fota containing all complete files

this should work for any version

Have to agree,could someone explain how to get debug on screen, mbbmbmmb doesn't do anything,what menu should I be in?

If you execute the "RootMe.bat", after Step2 you'll see the full debug menu in the phone to select "update from SDCard". You can run the process safely, if the phone isn't in the right version it just won't work, but you won't break/brick anything (just tried)

Now I have one question. When i look to my phone info i have this :

Model no. : U20i
Firmware version : 1.6
Kernel : 2.6.29 (SEMCUser@SEMCHost #1)
Built number : 1.1.A.0.8

That's not the versions where you are talking about with the 37 or 38.

Why is this so different. can i use the root files for the 38?

The problem is that my root bases on the OTA update . So it updates from a specified version to a another one.
You can only use this ATM while you are on this special Version SE released the OTA for!

But as i said another user here had gained root too, his version works on all versions, because he had used a exploit to gain root

Of course i will get this thread updated too!

Like i wrote! Very nice

But nobody knew it

It's always better to have 2 rooting methods. your one works like a charm too, but it can be fixed easily with new kernel (better said it is fixed in new kernel :/ )

So for now its VERY GOOD

Confirmed, downgrade to 1.0.A.1.36 and rooting doesn't work... let's try the exploid method!

Sorry for the noob question... now that we have root, is there any chance to get a recovery like JFK's,Amor-Ra's, etc. in HTC? (I come from a G1
