My family has always allowed me to use their upgrades knowing I'd give them the phone after the next upgrade. I went into a local Verizon (Corporate Store) to use my dad's upgrade with his permission only to be told that if I do that I may not have my own upgrade available in 6 months. They went on to say that Verizon may stop allowing borrowed family plan upgrades because: One, you technically aren't meeting your contract requirements of two years and two, it gives people a reason to NOT use their new Edge plans.

What are your thoughts? I am beginning to hate Verizon more and more with each passing day.

I actually like what T-mobile is doing - they are getting away from the concept of a "contract phone". You get service at a basic rate, and you buy the phone you want full price (they do let you spread out the payments interest-free). So you end up saving money, and if you are like me, I don't need to upgrade every year or so.
