Re: [ROM][SCH-I605][JB][4.2.1] CyanogenMod 10.1 official nightlies

I keep running into an issue. I'm using twrp and when I attempt to flash the first file, it says there is a problem and it fails. I've tried wiping and also redownloading. My computer won't recognize my sdcard through usb. I had to pull the card out and use the slot in the front. I suppose it's somehow related to this? The phone is capable of seeing and using it though for pictures.

Are you getting a status 7 fail? Make sure you're on the newest twrp

Is GPS fully functional in this release?

Thanks!

Like others in the ALPHA1 thread were suggesting towards the end of the non-official CM10.1 builds (tst1-25 and tst1-25-2), I continue to have the issue wherein I have to disable the "Wi-Fi & mobile network location" checkbox in order for GPS to work. With it unchecked, GPS works fine. With it unchecked, GPS doesn't work at all.

I can literally fire up a GPS test tool (GPS Test+, for example) and will have no satellites at all, switch to Location Settings and uncheck the box referenced above, and then switch back to GPS Test+ and I will get satellites once again. Same deal in reverse, satellites go away. Don't even have to close out of GPS Test+ (just switching back and forth by long-holding Home is sufficient).

For the time being, I've been simply managing this manually.

Do you have a link for the photosphere camera?

Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app

I used this one. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/29895269/camera42_patched_with_sharing-signed.zip

I simply deleted GMSCore.apk and the Gallery.apk (I think it's called gallery2.apk) in System/Apps and then flashed the linked zip

I use Camera FV-5 for most of my shots, but this gives me the photosphere option. Just lettin you know, the photoshpere version of the camera has issues when you use the flash.

Yes it's status 7. Sorry, I didn't pick that out amongst the jiberish. It was all Greek to me. It shows I'm running twrp 2.3.2.3. It's the version linked in Adams thread for the new unlock after ota update. Where could I find a later version.

I know the op States to use cwm but a later post says you can use twrp so I did since I already had it from the rooting process

Had anyone switched from Liquid to this? Any performance differences? I would imagine not, never hurts to ask though.

only thing i see is the one of the sensors i believe the acceleration sensor according to the sensor test app. all i have checked is bluetooth streaming and gps. i feel it is better than liquid except for the acceleration.

I'm sorry for the undoubtedly stupid question. I ran through Adams jailbreak procedure with no problems, but I don't know which step actually installed twrp. Can you tell me how to go about updating to the latest version? I would try it myself, but I'm just affraid of doing something irreversible.

Thanks guys for all the work!

Just download goo manger. Hit menu and select install open recovery. It'll do it all for you.

I must be getting close. I updated twrp and was able to flash both files, and got a cyanogenmod boot screen, but thats it. Lol. Perhaps used the incorrect gapps? I used 20121212. I'll try the other...

1212 is the correct gapps. Did you wait long enough?

Fairly sure I did, unless its having to load extra stuff on an initial boot up. I've waited 2 or 3 minutes. I'll pull the battery and wait longer. I've gotten worked up and nervous in the past thinking I've bricked a phone, so I'm just taking my time on this one and trying not to bug people un necessarily... but thanks for your help!

In Call Volume

My only complaint right now is that in call volume seems really low, maybe i am just getting old and need some hearing aids ;)

did you do a full wipe (factory reset, cache, system, and dalvik) before you flashed both files?

Progress is being made. My 10.2 builds are compiling OK now. I can flash and boot to the homescreen but anything I try to launch causes a soft reboot.
Mine do the same and I have no cell signal. I think I messed up loading the props. Let me know if you make any progress or maybe slickrick will shine some light on the subject

Thank you sbrissen for developing for this awesome device and all of our donators who made it possible! None of this would have happened without you guys :)

You will lose S Pen and other Touchwiz functionality if you flash this but here is how you can get some of that functionality back!
    1. S Pen works (try out the app Papyrus as a replacement to S Note, Papyrus does utilize the S Pen button as well).
    2. Air View works (Go to settings, Language & input, check "Show icon when using stylus".
    3. The S Pen button works (Go to settings, Language & input, Stylus gestures, those all use the s pen button).
    4. Pop up browser = OverSkreen from the Google Play Store.
    5. I use the 4.2 Camera on Touchwiz anyway. There are plenty of good camera apps in the market if you want more features.
    6. Multiwindow. There is no alternative, dont ask.
And here's some alternatives to Touchwiz apps (PM me if you want me to add something!)
    Code:
    [URL="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myboyfriendisageek.stickit"]Stick it! (Pop-up Player)[/URL]
[URL="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clov4r.android.nil&hl=en"]MoboPlayer[/URL]- It's another very capable, free video player with floating player functionality. Plus its free!

DO NOT USE 20121011 GAPPS OR YOU WILL HAVE ISSUES, USE 20121212 GAPPS.

If you want to downgrade back to a 4.1.x ROM, flash the restore-sdcard-after-downgrade.zip attached below AFTER flashing back to 4.1.x ROM. Your storage situation will be how it was pre-CM10.1 flash. Thanks to madmack for the file.

alright, I'm good with the phone logs. I submitted a change for speaker phone and it got merged so tonight's should have MOAR VOLUMEZ on speaker.

Still working on BT and gps.

and still looking for logs of apps where the mic isn't working.

I'll be starting a cm10.2 thread shortly. For anyone thinking of flashing back to 10.1, not going to happen unless you do a clean install so backup first! A couple databases were updated and cannot be reverted.
