You can lead a fool to wisdom but you can't make him think! XDA, mobile wisdom, not a n00b feeding ground!!

Ouch, sorry! I thought that the red text was a signature and instead of this I've read many posts like "hi, 10chars..." :p

So... Hello people! My name is Adrian and I'm from Poland. I've found these forums years ago when I was using a Motorola Milestone and lookong for roms. Today I'm a happy Moto Defy user which is my 2nd phone with Android OS. When I was younger I loved to code in C++, PHP and doing reverse engineering with ASM. Nowadays I'm not spending too much of my time on pc, so I'm only a webmaster and "sshmaster" on my fav Counter Strike forums.

Hi Adrian. Unfortunately this thread (and others) is being abused by people who want to get 10 posts quickly. Because of this I have subscribed to thread and will now delete all posts that do not comply with OP

Hello to everyone, my name is Domenick

Hello all, my name is Domenick. I've been using Android devices for several years, and running custom roms as far back as my Viewsonic G-Tab (what a collosal piece of junk that thing was), and have just started taking a coursera class on Android development as I'm interested in trying to push my career a bit into the mobile development world. I'm hoping this website will be a useful resource for me in that regard. I'm currently using an HTC One as my daily driver, and a 2013 Nexus 7 as my regular tablet.

The One has had ViperOne on it for awhile, but I've found it's started to get a little slow, and there are some bugs which I've not been able to sort through, so I thought I'd play around with some other roms. I found OneDroid, which seemed perfect, but after installing it, I've found that I'm unable to connect to my company's exchange server. This seems a somewhat common problem with KitKat, but there's somewhat inconsistent workarounds. Some people have had success by prefixing their username with the windows Domain name. It seems MotoX users have been able to grab the exchange APKs from the Nexus 5, and that works. Still others have simply retreated to third party email apps, but I find them to be quite lackluster when compared to the stock client (whose widget I find especially useful).

To resolve this, I'd sought to find help on the OneDroid forum directly, but being as I don't have 10 posts, that's not allowed. I don't really see how one would have 10 legitimate posts without posting on a Rom specific forum. I see posts are being deleted from here because of perceived abuse by people seeking to get to 10 posts. But I'd ask, how exactly else would one get to 10 posts in my case? The requirement seems very excessive to me, and limits the usefulness of the forum. I'm not a moron with a ridiculously green question. I'm not a spambot. And I'm not malicious in intent. How does making me find ways to shoehorn in semi-relevant posts into threads I'm not really interested in serve the interests of this website or its users?

I suspect this will be deleted, but it is an earnest introduction. Thanks for your time.

If you look in the general forums and individual device forums you'll notice General and Q&A threads. In these are posts which people have created seeking answers. Why not help a fellow member, contribute to XDA and you'll have your 10 posts in no time.

Btw, you'll notice your post was not deleted ;)

Hello everyone, its JtG here. Never said hello on the forum as of yet. So here I am. This site has been a excellent source for me, and has helped me to root and ROM several devices. This list so far incudes : HTC g1, Samsung captivate, Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy Infuse, Hauwei fusion, Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Samsung Galaxy S4 active. To the devs of this site thanks for everything you have done to make advancements to our devices and for to teaching me new tricks! Someday I hope to be able to create a functional ROM of my own. Thanks again, JtG.

    Welcome!!!

On the behalf of everyone here at XDA-Developers.com, we would like to welcome you to our forum. We are the world’s leading mobile development forum and now that you have joined, you will be among the population with the world’s most talented mobile developers. Our mantra is a simple one. We are “a development forum by developers, for developers." XDA is a place where many come to help fellow members and further development on almost every mobile device imaginable. Our forum has amassed a great wealth of knowledge and it is now at your fingertips. This thread is a starting place for all new members, such as yourself. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to us in the thread. Let us know who you are, tell us a little bit about yourself, how you became interested in mobile development and hacking, as well as how you found XDA.

Please take a look at the links below. We have added some valuable information that will help guide you to success on XDA.

First and foremost, when it comes to success on XDA, we expect all members, both new and old, to know, understand, and follow all of the rules and policies set forth by the forum administrators. You can review the rules in the link below. These rules are also pinned at the top of every forum page as an announcement.

We understand that being new to this forum can be a little overwhelming. Our very own Senior Moderator, mikef, has taken the time to write a very extensive guide that covers just about everything you need to know when starting off here at XDA. We suggest you take some time and read through this guide as it will answer most, if not all of the questions that you may have as a new member.

Next you will probably notice that there is a restriction set on all new members for posting in the development sections here on XDA. Once you have posted 10 times, this restriction will be lifted. This isn't to punish new members, but to give all new members a chance to understand how XDA works before one is allowed to post in those sections. Please note that we do require a new members' first 10 posts to be constructive and helpful. Any spamming to avert this restriction will lead to posts being deleted. For a more in-depth explanation of why this rule exists, please follow the link.

Last but not least, there may be times when you need assistance from someone on the XDA staff. Our staff is always here, 24 hours a day, to assist you with anything that you may need regarding the forum itself. However, please keep in mind that our staff is not here to answer questions about issues that you may be having with your device. We are here solely for issues within the forum itself that may need to be addressed. If you come across an issue with the forum, the easiest way to get our attention is by reporting a post.

We wish you luck with all of your endeavors on XDA. Your success here is up to you, but we hope this starting place helps set you on the path to that success. XDA welcomes you with open arms and we thank you for joining our community.

    Enjoy your stay!
