I'm getting a replacement device from verizon after having multiple signal issues and problems with the IR blaster. Is it okay to ship it back s-off and unlocked with the faux hboot in place or should I lock the bootloader and turn s-on? I've already RUU'd it back to stock. thanks in advance.

I wouldn't turn s-on

Just lock the bootloader. S-Off doesn't matter for warranty. I wouldn't flash an hboot with a fake status. What if that phone is refurbished and given to another user? Besides if they find out you flashed a modified hboot that's way worse.

unlock/lock without HTCDEV:

why you should NEVER turn s-on especially on the VZW One M8:

Dude who made his phone unbootable by turning s-on:
