Outdated instructions? Confusing instructions? No, you just don't pay attention to the basics of ROM flashing. The standard flashing proceedure has never changed for us.
Make backup
Wipe data, cache, dalvk cache
-additional step if you want. Wipe system, webtop/osh
Flash ROM
Flash gapps
Flash any aftermarket packages (blue sleep, boot animations, updated kernel, etc.)
Reboot
Enjoy
Whats hard about that process thats been in effect since ROMs were released, modified May 2013 to include updated kernels?
