Already figured that out:
1) It is really necessary to have updated bootloader.
2) Signal drops depends on kernel you're using. In case of franco kernel - sometimes it have to be 700mhz min.

Using Wind east of Toronto, shows four bars but it is cutting out like I have 0-1 bar signal. But earlier in the day had full bars and signal was not cutting out and data speeds were great.

Im on (custom) 4.0.3 with KK1 and Ive got drops :( Everything was fine on 4.0.1
You are using a radio (XXKK1) that is known to have connection drops with anything above 4.0.1. Not really a surprise there. ;)

This is mentioned in pretty much every 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 based custom rom thread so not sure how you could've missed it.

Honest to god, I didn't know about this. Any of the same warning apply to XXKK6?

I was on XXKL1 and switched to UGKL1. I'm on T-Mobile (Southern California). It almost seems like XXKL1 was better. Can anyone in US T-Mobile confirm?

Thank you!

I'm using XXKL1 on T-Mobile here near Chicago, IL and I can confirm that this gives me better Wi-Fi and phone call performance than XXKK6.

In my experience, this is the best radio i have come across until now, better than XXKK6. Overnight i would lose about 1%/hour of battery whereas with this one I have lost only 6% in 10 hours yesterday. I think this retains a stable radio signal as against the previous basebands like XXKK1 and XXKK6 which I had until now. Until now my radio signal fluctuated quite a bit throughout the night (from full to no signal) and I suspect that was to blame for the battery life.

See attached screenshots.

Australian Telstra NextG user here,
Have tried DVKK6 and XXKK6... fingers crossed this XXKL1 tops them both ;)

edit:
After flashing and running my first speed test,
I managed 11.23Mbps down and 3.58Mbps uploads! Noice! :)

---------- Post added at 10:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:04 PM ----------

Hmm, after a few more tests, I've found that pings and down/uploads have all dropped in quality.

Initially around 11mbps mark, i'm now experiencing speeds as low as 4mbps.

Back to DVKK6 for me. That was consistantly around the 10mbps mark.

I have had good luck with this baseband.

I switched from the XXKK6, which was on a typical day getting me anywhere between -38dBm (14 asu) and 16 asu.

After installing this baseband I have been seeing an average of 20-22 asu.

IMO that is a significant improvement, especially since I work in a building that has fairly thick walls (but is in a highly commercial area).

I am on the AT&T network, in southern NJ.

Just saying for Netcom and Oslo.... this radio is night and day. Never had this stable and reliable connection before.

Definitely recommended. Now to see how it affects battery ;)

From some random field-testing in Oslo...

    - MUCH improved stability. Reception in metro tunnels no longer drives me crazy.
    - Getting around 8/3mbps with 59ms in stores downtown.

Seems to have very low packet loss.
