Archos 32 flashed fine!

Any more info? Did update during boot end up ok? What exactly "flashes on and off" mean?
You can always use backup - don't you? :p

Updated from 1.6 to 1.6.3, update finished. But some apps are missing and cannot restore from Titanium backup. Checked app2sd, all apps at sd cards are missing and showed no apps at sd card....

Hi,

UrukDroid 1.6.3

This is update for all 1.6 versions, it mainly brings changes from Archos OS 2.4.82 both in kernel and system space.

Please do backup first...

http://sauron.pourix.com/UrukDroid/UrukDroid-1.6/UrukDroid-1.6.3-update.tbz2 (md5sum: 8e497b043c6e1a4cccae78e605469129)

Hello,$aur0n:

My A101 could not update from Updated from 1.62 to 1.6.3?
--->I put UrukDroid-1.6.3-update.tbz2 file in /data/Urukupdate/ ,
after 5 minutes it got failed installation and move 3 gz/tgz files
(initramfs.cpio,UrukDroid-rootfs-update,zImage) to /data/ ?
----> Can I put "UrukDroid-rootfs-update.tgz" in /.upgrade folder
and directly install "initramfs.cpio" & "zImage" file in SDE boot
loader to update UrukDroid-1.6.3 ??

Thanks in advance for your comment

You could - but some script will/may not be executed and thus system may be missing some functionality. Best way is to check update/fail.log in /var/lib/urukdroid/

install pb - can't transfert image file

Hi $aur0n,

I have an A70IT2 Froyo and i try to see if A70 and A70IT2 are compatible with all custom OS. I have installed BULL RC2 without pb, but i can't install Urukdroid.

My problem is that i can't mount/see my drive after install kernel.
I have framework starts, choose simple install, and when the drive is mount, i can see it, but i haven't any access (see RAW fs type under windows and ubuntu).
I had tried ext2 volume manager under windows(thunk that ext partition) and mount it under ubuntu 10, no result.

Is there another way to transfert tar.gz file to my SD to terminate installation? (maybe possible with ADB?)

I have compile my own kernel from your sources to see if A70S2 is in kernel config, the same problem is same.

Thanks,

Bizcuite

It looks like it failed do format drive properly or drives are enumerated differently in 702 - can't really say since I don't have it and it can have completely different hardware...

Herewith my fail.log content :

2012.03.07_04:31:08: Processing update package /data/UrukUpdate/UrukDroid-1.6.3-update.tbz2 failed: Bad checksums of update files
2012.03.07_04:42:03: Processing update package /data/UrukUpdate/UrukDroid-1.6.3-update.tbz2 failed: Bad checksums of update files
2012.03.07_04:42:12: Processing update package /data/UrukUpdate/UrukDroid-1.6.3-update.tbz2 failed: Wrong file type. File is not an UrukDroid package or it's corrupted.

and I used the"Marxio_File_Checksum_Verifier_1.6.9" to double checked
the check-sum of "UrukDroid-1.6.3-update"file is
"8e497b043c6e1a4cccae78e605469129" (sames as yours)

I do not know why could not update the "UrukDroid-1.6.3-update"file ????

Is your system overclocked? If so - large files may be written with errors, and checksum may be wrong.

Firstly only way to solve issue was complete reflash as it had messed even our back ups up!!!!

Secondly it keeps failing to update from any version of 1.6

thirdly it has failed to flash correctly 3 times(1.6.3) now resulting it a boot loop at the uruk droid "loading" image and it's this image that flashes on and off the screen...

on final occassion that it worked(partial update to 1.6.3) the system is so sluggish it's only just usable. reflashed AGAIN to 1.6 then to 1.6.2 and alls well..

oddly our archos 32 is perfectly fine!!!! its the 101it thats has the issues!

My PC did not overclock so far and I never have update file issues before!

I double checked the checksum of download file is same as yours
( 8e497b043c6e1a4cccae78e605469129 )

It is very strange for me and I try to restore the UrukDroid 1.6.2 for
confirmation!

Ok, i had seen this, after reinstall my own kernel (from stock), my partitions was ok (i use my own kernel, with 1GB ext4 data and OC).

Completely different hardware, i don't think, but maybe USB port and memory map.

Can you give me parameters that you used to format and create partitions plz?

thanks,

I have found this same issue. Update from 1.6.2 to 1.6.3, Update finished.
Some apps are missing and could not re-install or restore from Titanium backup.
Could not install new apps that require space on SD Card.

I have tried to unmount SD Card and Mount again but the problem still occurred.

Without this problem. UrukDroid 1.6.3 is the best version for me. :D

Note: I have install UrukDroid on Internal Storage not on SD Card.

I flashed the 1.6.3 update. The process started OK but after I waited for a long time the updating notification still didn't go away. The CPU monitor in Quick System Info was idle for ages so I hoped that it was finished. I decided to reboot and when it restarted it said that it was applying the update. Everything seems to be working really well and all apps seem to be there.

Was it meant to reboot automatically after applying the 1.6.3 update?

Problem solved...by reinstall UD 1.6 to get all apps back and move all apps from SD to internal storage. Then, u can apply the update 1.6.3 w/o problem.

No, manual reboot is required.

Not the pc overclocked, but the Archos.

I do not know whether has overclock or not in latest UrukDroid 1.6.2 ??

However I have successful to update UrukDroid 1.6.3 by beneath process:
(1) Put "UrukDroid-rootfs-update.tgz" in /.upgrade folder
(2) install "initramfs.cpio" & "zImage" file in SDE boot loader

I still confusion why put UrukDroid-1.6.3-update.tbz2 file in /data/Urukupdate/ ,
after 5 minutes it got failed installation ?

Upgraded from 1.6.1 to 1.6.3 and everything seems to work nice.
Just noticed that after putting the 1.6.3 update in UrukUpdate, it started the update but didn't reboot automatically, I had to reboot manually so the update can continue. I noticed that because in UrukConfig it was still displaying 1.6.1 (I let the device live its life during update).
After a manual reboot, everything is fine :D

Thanks agains $aur0n for your great work.

    Here is 1.6RC1

This package will also update kernel/initramfs and reboot. It will update apps in /system/app (so if you removed some of them - you may need to do it again). It may show startup configuration wizard - but only to confirm existing configuration.

    http://sauron.pourix.com/UrukDroid/UrukDroid-1.6/UrukDroid-1.6RC1-update.tbz2

After update - device will reboot itself.

ps. So far UrukDroid 1.5 installation package was downloaded 32593 times :)

    UrukDroid 1.5B2

    Hi,

    Uruk 1.5 beta 2
    http://sauron.pourix.com/UrukDroid/UrukDroid-1.5/UrukDroid-1.5B2-upgrade.tbz2
    130MB f5fc62f433324f3baf51e000f4b187e2 UrukDroid-1.5B2-upgrade.tbz2

Upgrade (so will erase probably some settings - just like before)
    - recompiled all modules (missing in beta1) for 3g/ethernet tethering and dvb drivers (but I will abandon all non standard dvb cards - too much work )
    - added (again) adhoc wifi support
    - moved libc to 2.13 (and all binaries)
    - configuration and services fixes, changes etc - fixed cifs modules loading

I've added message during upgrade process if it fails (so perhaps we will know why it failed to erase file on your devices - read messages during process)

    Early Uruk 1.5beta1

Here is early 1.5 (beta1) - please don't use it if you are not confident in your skills (reverting back to 1.1/1.0 is possible - but annoying).
    http://sauron.pourix.com/UrukDroid/UrukDroid-1.5/UrukDroid-1.5B1-upgrade.tbz2

It will work as an upgrade of Uruk 1.0, but it's recommended to do it on 1.1 (because you can do full backup in RescueMenu).
Please copy upgrade file to /data/UrukUpdate and read messages (Uruk 1.1) - device should reboot itself.

It should upgrade like every Uruk but it's NOT tested (upgrade process) so I advice to do rootfs backup (Uruk 1.1 ResceuMenu). Kernel from 1.5 WON'T work with any previous release - so after upgrade it won't be able to boot 1.1.
This release has probably not working dvb/3g support - but it may work (simply not tested) - it's quite important for me to report what else is missing.

If you want revert back to 1.1 you should flash (from Archos BootMenu) 1.1 kernel/initramfs (http://sauron.pourix.com/UrukDroid/UrukDroid-1.1/) and do rootfs restore from Uruk RescuMenu.

That's probably it :) Good Luck

btw. If you had Uruk market installed, after upgrade it will be gone (there will be icons left) - I recommend to use Arctool to install market (it has newer one and with it's certificates there is no wifi location problem).

    UrukDroid 1.1RC2

1.1RC2 with 2.3.81 changes, some kernel module changes (will see if it still do "soft reboot")
If anyone knows sure method to trigger "soft reboot" - please let me know...
    First update kernel (/data/UrukUpdate)
    http://sauron.pourix.com/UrukDroid/UrukDroid-1.1/UrukDroid-1.1RC2-kernel.tbz2
    Then update file
    http://sauron.pourix.com/UrukDroid/UrukDroid-1.1/UrukDroid-1.1RC2-update-rc.tbz2

With some new changes in rescue menu I've added software way to disable SDCard Uruk boot: You can dissable boot from SDCard by naming any of it's partition "noboot" ('root@urukdroid:/root# e2label /dev/block/mmcblk2p1 noboot')
It's usefull if you have Uruk on both sdcard and internal, and you don't want to remove card every time you want to boot internal (I use sdcard as live backup only now)
