AmrBanawan,

Yes, I agree the problem is defiantly not the code especially since you are unable to drop to command and execute the commands at the Windows prompt.

Lets have you flush the Temp directory, do the following:

Code:
adb shell su -c "cd /data/local/tmp/; rm *"

Then reboot the Kindle.

I am having the same "Permission denied" errors as the others using the latest revision's options 20 & 21 (output attached).

Here are my environment details.

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Kindle Fire HD 7" 7.2.3
- Reset to factory defaults
- ADB enabled

I'm willing to create a WebEx session and conference call, if that'll help with troubleshooting.

I can also commit to donating to the project or a charity :)

Kindle Fire HD and 2 First Aide - 4.1.42-Beta - Dated 02/19/2013 at 15:45

hi guys still having problems with rev 40

dekor8tor,

Make sure "Allow installation of external programs" is on Under More+ Device.

PLEASE REMOVE THE ANDROID SDK IF YOU HAVE IT INSTALLED.

If Root fails, unplug the Kindle from USB, reboot the Kindle and the PC, wait 3 minutes for everything to stabilize. Then plug the Kindle back into USB, wait 2 minutes. Then toggle Enable ADB Off and On found under More + Security, wait 1 minute then launch Kindle Fire First Aide, select Option 20. If Root fails again, go back to the Kindle toggle Enable ADB Off and On found under More + Security, wait 1 minute then try Option 21. If Root Fails, close Kindle Fire First Aide and Unplug the Kindle reboot the Kindle and the PC, wait 3 minutes for everything to stabilize. Check Enable ADB is ON found under More + Security and the Launch Kindle Fire First Aide and try Option 21 again, if it fails toggle Enable ADB Off and On found under More + Security, wait 1 and run Option 21 again.

If Root fails, post the output and we will begin to look at driver or other problems with the Kindle.

The information you posted was very helpful. We changed the Root timing which is critical for successful Root. This version we had a chance to test it on 4 different Kindles today, so if this fails we can safely conclude you have a problem with either a driver or conflicting program like Norton Internet Security.

This is Software Version 4.1.42-Beta The RunMe is Dated 02/19/2013 at 15:45:

Microsoft Windows Kindle Fire First Aide Universal Version 4.1.42-Beta: KFFirstAide.zip

Microsoft Windows Kindle Fire First Aide 32-bit Version 4.1.42-Beta: KFFirstAide32.zip

Microsoft Windows Kindle Fire First Aide 64-bit Version 4.1.42-Beta: KFFirstAide64.zip

Please unzip the above packages to C:\KFFirstAide make sure the RunMe.bat is Dated 02/19/2013 at 15:45. Before running the software, make sure you do not have another folder inside C:\KFFirstAide named KFFirstAide32, KFFirstAide64 or KFFirstAide. After you Unzip the software you should only have one folder named C:\KFFirstAide, this is critical to proper operation.

Make sure you have a Environment Variable in the Microsoft Windows PATH Statement of C:\KFFirstAide otherwise you will see many 'unable to find ???package???.apk' messages.

Finally, make sure you are running the latests version of Java SE Development Kit 7u13

AmrBanawan,

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have the damn SDK installed, I could kill Google for making this software public! 99.999999999999999% of the users do NOT under any condition require the SDK never never never.

We thought we were going crazy here, with the unexplained output.

Remove the SDK or Disable C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\Platform-tools by renaming platform-tools to platform-tools-old.

If you do not have the SDK installed, which I believe you do, then somewhere you have another version of adb running. Search your PC for adb.exe - there should only be one copy, our copy.

This explains all the issues we have been having with the output and erroneous messages. You see, what is happeneing when our software calls ADB to wake up, it is also waking up the other copy of ADB causing a port conflict. ADB is not smart enough to understand the error, so it thinks there is a problem with ADB is posts the output of "adb server is out of date. killing...".

Once you fix the conflicting ADB Problem, everything will run MUCH better since during this conflict I'll bet only 50% of the intended packages were ever sent to the Kindle, thus the Kindle is probably reacting weird or a little slow. This is due to the fact only one half of the packages ever made it to the Kindle.

We are stepping out for a couple of hours. Please fix the conflict and test the functions again.

Make sure "Allow installation of external programs" is on Under More+ Device.

If Root fails, unplug the Kindle from USB, reboot the Kindle and the PC, wait 3 minutes for everything to stabilize. Then plug the Kindle back into USB, wait 2 minutes. Is it possible to do with with Go launcher HD activated? I tried using another theme, the Android 4 Free, and the lost robot music, and it seems to be lagging a lot when I turn off and on the screen to see the theme. Is it because I have these two applications running at the same time. Do I need to choose between the two?

Prokennexusa,

Well, Sorry to disappoint you but, I already had it uninstalled, You were right about the adb files though but that only removed the "killing server" message and didn't change anything else, So now i'm pretty damn sure it's something in the device itself, How would you like to proceed?

complete restore and start over fresh?

Kindle Fire HD and 2 First Aide - 4.1.42-Beta - Dated 02/19/2013 at 15:45

hi this is after opt 21

dekor8tor,

This was tested today on 4 different Kindles. From now on we will not post a release until it has been tested on every Kindle.

Thank you VERY much for posting the output, the error that stands out is: "error: device not found"

Looking at this output and the above error, it is clear you have one of the following issue:

1. Enable ADB is Not ON
2. The Kindle is not Firmly plugged into USB
3. Allow Installation of External Programs is not ON
4. You have the SDK Installed

First, let's have you look at the Kindle. Pull down the upper status bar, select More+ then select Security - is Enable ADB ON? If yes, great! Let next look at another important permission, Pull down the upper status bar, select More+ then select Device - Is "Allow installation of external programs" ON? OK, if these two check out, we would like you to launch Windows Explorer on your PC, navigate to C:\Program Files then look for Android - does this directory exist? If yes, rename the directory to AndoidBAK and reboot the PC.

Next plug the Kindle into USB, go to the Windows Device Manager, do you see any yellow triangles? If they are:

MTP
Unknown Device

Then you have a driver problem, unplug the device from USB and use Option 12 to install the Universal ADB Driver, wait for the install to complete and then look in the Windows Device Manager, do you now see:

Kindle > Android ADB Interface
Portable Devices > Kindle

If you see the above devices, let try to Root the Kindle again. Make sure the Kindle is plugged into USB, go to More+ Security, toggle Enable ADB OFF, wait 30 seconds and toggle Enable ADB ON, wait 30 seconds. Open Kindle Fire First Aide, select Option 20, let the process run. If Root fails, fine, go back to the Kindle, toggle ADB OFF and back ON, wait 30 seconds and select Option 21. Pay attention the Kindle will ask to be restored, click on RESTORE allow the program to complete the process, if Root fails, which is should NOT, unplug the Kindle from USB. Reboot the Kindle and Reboot the PC, when the PC is back online wait 2 minutes, then plug the Kindle back into USB, wait 2 minutes.

Finally launch Kindle Fire First Aide, select Option 21 again, let the process run, pay attention to the Kindle when you see Restore then click on Restore and let the process complete you will now have Root.

If after all this you still do not have Root we may need to remove and reinstall the ADB Driver.

Please post an update.

This is Software Version 4.1.43-Beta The RunMe is Dated 02/19/2013 at 22:15:

Microsoft Windows Kindle Fire First Aide 64-bit Version 4.1.43-Beta: KFFirstAide64.zip

Root Method 1 and 2 Output

Yeah, still not working for me either. Output for methods 1 and 2 attached. Not sure if you think it could be relevant to this issue or not, but I do not have any adb.exe file on my system other than the one in the KF First Aide folder.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Appreciate all of your effort.

Mike

complete restore and start over fresh?

AmrBanawan,

Thank you for the feedback, we do applicate it.

Yes, restore the Kindle and start fresh if the process below does not work. We gave a copy of this software to 3 different friends today, people that are in this industry. I gave two of them a new Kindle HD 7" and one of them a Kindle 8.9" asked them to take them home with a copy of Software Version 4.1.43-Beta The RunMe is Dated 02/19/2013 at 20:15 and run Option 20 and 21. All three successfully rooted the Kindles, two had to use Option 21, the one person successfully rooted with Option 20. What this tells me is we have the code correct, as we suspected. You see, these methods of Rooting have been around for a couple of years, they were NOT developed by us, we just integrated the method into our software adjusting the timing a bit to make Rooting the Kindle more successful. That is all.

Having said this we also tested these methods on our own internal Kindles, they all were successfully rooted. Now why we did all this today is quite simple. We are not perfect, we make mistakes and we did not want to rule out a mistake with the code. After real CLOSE review, we can say with absolute assurance the code is now solid, completely error free. So, in the end this was good, it allowed us to perfect the code, for that we thank you!

Now let's get to your problem. The message "adb server is out of date. killing.." is usually caused by conflicting ADB or the SDK, if you say the SDK has been removed then the issue is with the Kindle itself.

What we can try is the following:

1. Use Option 22 to Unroot the Kindle

Reboot the PC and the Kindle, then wait 3 minutes for the PC to stabilize. Plug the Kindle back into USB, wait 1 minute for the driver to initialize, then inspect the Windows Device Manager, do you see the following?

Kindle > Android ADB Interface
Portable Devices > Kindle

If yes, perfect, let's proceed. While you are looking at the Windows Device Manager, let's make sure the driver is healthy. Pickup the Kindle, make sure USB Is firmly plugged in, then toggle ADB OFF wait - look at the device manager, you should see Kindle > Android ADB Interface disappear. If this is good, perfect, let's toggle ADB Back ON. Make sure Kindle > Android ADB Interface shows back up, then set the Kindle on a solid surface, make sure USB is firmly seated. Launch Kindle Fire First Aide, select Option 20 if it fails do not worry it is not always the most effective methods of Rooting the Kindle. Exit Kindle Fire First Aide, reboot the Kindle, wait 3 minutes for the Kindle to reappear in the Windows Device Manager. Do NOT assume the driver initialized, go back to the Windows Device Manager do you see:

Kindle > Android ADB Interface
Portable Devices > Kindle

If yes, perfect! Launch Kindle Fire First Aide, select Option 21, pay close attention to the Kindle, at one point the Kindle will ask to be RESTORED, click on the Restore and let the software complete the operation, when done you will have Root again. Then we need to fix any anomalies caused by the conflicting ADB. After successful Root, reboot the Kindle, wait for the Kindle to show back up in the Windows Device Manager when you see:

Kindle > Android ADB Interface
Portable Devices > Kindle

Then run Option 18 when done, reboot the Kindle again, then check the Windows Device Manager, when you see:

Kindle > Android ADB Interface
Portable Devices > Kindle

Then run Option 23 when done, reboot the Kindle again, then check the Windows Device Manager, when you see:

Kindle > Android ADB Interface
Portable Devices > Kindle

Then run Option 27 when done, reboot the Kindle again, then check the Windows Device Manager, when you see:

Kindle > Android ADB Interface
Portable Devices > Kindle

Keep doing this until all the software you need is installed, when done finish the process with Option 31.

Be sure between each Option you are checking the Windows Device Manager for the proper devices and checking More + Security Enable ADB is ON.

We are working to add the new Freedom Bootloader, this will be available tomorrow, if you have time to test this new feature that would be great. I suspect this will keep you quite busy. Isn't late for you? We though you would be in bed by now.

Kindle Fire HD and 2 First Aide - 4.1.43-Beta - Dated 02/19/2013 at 22:15

Yeah, still not working for me either. Output for methods 1 and 2 attached.

mjpca,

Thank you Mike for supplying excellent details and your patience, we could never do this without all the cumulative efforts in making this package better. You output made us realize we forgot to add an important file to the Root package. Please download the entire package since the package has two ADB's - one is in a sub-folder, so do not worry about a conflict. We needed a downgraded or 'insecure' version of ADB to make one of the Root methods work.

Here we go! This is Software Version 4.1.43-Beta The RunMe is Dated 02/19/2013 at 22:15:

AmrBanawan,

Let's not have you waste your time with a Factory Reset, let's try to rebuild what you have with Reinstalling the packages, then finally do a Option 31 in the end. We spent all that effort today and the most important file never uploaded properly. We performed a manual upload, it is there now. Thank you for all you hard work in making this successful, we do appreciate you!

Try Option 20 first, if it fails, try Option 21.

Here we go, get a cup of coffee and let's make this happen! This is Software Version 4.1.43-Beta The RunMe is Dated 02/19/2013 at 22:15:

Kindle Fire HD and 2 First Aide - 4.1.43-Beta - Dated 02/19/2013 at 22:15

Is it possible to do with with Go launcher HD activated? I tried using another theme, the Android 4 Free, and the lost robot music, and it seems to be lagging a lot when I turn off and on the screen to see the theme. Is it because I have these two applications running at the same time. Do I need to choose between the two?

geeibara,

This is a great question, we are sorry we missed it until now, sorry.

There are two directions for your solution, first use the latest version of our software and use Option 31, this will fix an permissions and anomalies. After this reboot the Kindle, how is it performing now? If no improvement, let see what process is hanging the Kindle. Go to Google Play Store, download and install:

Task Manager from Houmiak

Open the Task Manager from Houmiak and look for the process that is taking a high percent of CPU process. Once you find the culprit please post it here and we will supply you a fix.

Here we go the latest version of our software: This is Software Version 4.1.43-Beta The RunMe is Dated 02/19/2013 at 22:15:

evo_zero,

Did you look to see if your Kindle was out of space? If not you may have serious permission issues on your Kindle. Try the following:

1. Make sure you do not have the Android SDK Running on your PC. Also make sure you do not have another version of ADB running on the PC, the easiest way to determine this is to drop to a Windows Command prompt - do not worry about where you drop to command, just use the default command location. So open a Windows Command Prompt and enter:

Code:
adb kill-server
adb wait-for-device
adb devices
If you do not see "killing server, server is out of date...." then you are OK to proceed to the next step.

2. Download the latest version of our software currently we are running Version 4.1.43-beta
3. Make sure ADB is ON and Allow installation of programs is ON - under the Kindle More + Device and More + Security.
4. Inspect the Windows Device Manager do you see:

Kindle > Android ADB Interface
Portable Devices > Kindle

5. Open Kindle Fire First Aide run Option 31 Fix Permissions and Anomalies

Once you do this reboot the Kindle, how is it running now? If you found an issue with Step 1 or 4, reinstall all your software since you may have corrupt packages on the Kindle.

Kindle Fire HD and 2 First Aide - 4.1.43-Beta - Dated 02/19/2013 at 22:15

I am having the same "Permission denied" errors as the others using the latest revision's options 20 & 21 (output attached).

Here are my environment details.
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Kindle Fire HD 7" 7.2.3
- Reset to factory defaults
- ADB enabled
I'm willing to create a WebEx session and conference call, if that'll help with troubleshooting.

I can also commit to donating to the project or a charity :)

n81acc,

Thank you for the detailed output, we took quite a bit of time to study the output and came to some solid solutions. If this fails again, we would be interested to connect via Remote but first let's see if we can get the job done through a few replies. You obviously are well organized and know how to communicate clearly, this is very important when trying to solve a problem like this on the Kindle.

The permission denied were the key, thank you for pointing this out. We realized we were using a secured version of ADB, this is fine for the other tasks in our software but it becomes a barrier when trying to Root the Kindle using an exploit. So what we decided to do is use the Insecure version to Root the Kindle and use the Secure version to do the other tasks!

Here we go, download the entire package sine it includes new ADB Servers. Probibly the best thing to do is deletre the current C:KFFirstAide folder and extract the new software to a fresh folder. Make sure you remove the 32 or 64 at the end. Also make sure you only have one folder named C:\KFFirstAide, OK? Does this make sense? If yes, proceed to download the fresh package:

Try Option 20 first, if it fails, try Option 21.

way, this took us weeks to perfect, so please respect the code. If you have recommendations, please post them,
we love to give you the feature that are important to YOU not us.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 1: Using Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer Download Kindle Fire First Aide 4.1.100-Beta:
    KFFirstAide.zip

Note: Be sure to extract the package to C:\KFFirstAide

Update Java To The Latest Version here: Java SE Development Kit 7u25

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 2: Using either 7-Zip or Microsoft Zip, unzip the KFFirstAide100.zip to your C:\ Drive as C:\KFFirstAide

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 3: With your mouse, open the C:\KFFirstAide contents by double mouse clicking the C:\KFFirstAide folder

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 4: Find the RunMe.bat file. Right Hand Mouse click on RunMe.bat, select 'Send to', select Desktop (Create Shortcut). Now press the Left Hand Mouse button to create the Shortcut named RunMe.bat. Temporary disable the Android SDK.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 5: Find the RunMe Shortcut on your desktop, select it by left mouse click over the icon, then while on the icon choose Right Hand mouse click, select Properties.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 6: This will display the RunMe properties. Select the General Tab, change the top name to KF First Aide. Then click on the Shortcut tab, click on Advanced. Check 'Run as Administrator', click OK, then click Apply, then click OK. All windows should be closed.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 7: Double Mouse Click the new Icon named KF First Aide. You may be presented with a security window, just click Yes.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 8: Please click on the Windows Key plus Pause/Break, this will display the Windows System Properties. Next Click on the Advanced Tab and find "Environment Variables". Please click on Environment Variables and find the Path Statement. Carefully add at the end of the Path Statement:

    Code:
    ;C:\KFFirstAide

Note: Do Not forget the (;) semi-colon before the C:\KFFirstAide

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 9: That is it! The software is ready. Next we get the Kindle ready to Flash.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 10: Next, go to the Kindle, pull down the status menu, select More+ then select Security, make sure Enable ADB is ON. Last, depress the <- and select Device. Make sure 'Allow Installation of Applications' is On.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 11: Insert the Original USB Cable to the Kindle, please ensure you have a solid connection, this is VERY critical.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 12: Next, make sure the Kindle Fire is Turned Off. Take the other end of the USB Cable and carefully inset it into a free USB Slot on your Computer - be careful to not disconnect the other end.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 13 : The Kindle Fire should automatically turn on and boot regular Bootmode. If the Kindle does not turn on depress the power button until it turns on. Next select Option 15 in the Software. The Kindle will reboot and will now see a screen that says: Fastboot Kindle Fire.

Note: If Option 15 does not trigger the Kindle to boot into Fastboot, then your Bootloader is damaged. Please send SkOrPn a PM to order a Factory USB Cable.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 14: Place the Kindle on a safe surface so it does not disconnect when running the software.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 15: Launch the KF First Aide software by double mouse clicking on the KF First Aide icon.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 16: You will be presented with a Kindle Fire First Aide Menu, carefully select the operations you would like to perform on the Kindle.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 17: If the option states "Fastboot" you need to leave the Kindle as noted above, this is Fastboot Mode. As the last operation be sure to Wipe the Cache and User Data which is Backup Option 3 in the Menu.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 18: Next, we will disable "Fastboot Mode" and enable ADB on the Kindle Fire. Select Option 10 in the Software Menu, the Kindle will Reboot into Regular Mode.

Kindle Fire First Aide Step 19: You may now perform the 'ADB Mode' options in the Menu.

Kindle Fire First Aide Note 1: Remember, after you perform the full Recovery, you are working with a Fresh Copy of the Software. ADB is disabled by default so be sure to Enable ADB under Security and Allow Installation of Programs under the Device Tab.

Kindle Fire First Aide Note 2: After the complete restore, please be sure to clear the Davlik Cache and the User Data by selecting Backup Option #3. You may also wipe the User Data and Cache by opening a Administrative Command Prompt within the KFFirstAide Folder and enter:

    Code:
    fastboot -i 0x1949 erase cache
    fastboot -i 0x1949 erase userdata
    fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot

Kindle Fire First Aide Note 3: The original versions of the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" with a software Versions 8.2.3 or 8.2.4 may find there Kindle Boot-loader loops to a Red Fastboot Screen. If your Kindle is stuck in Fastboot, please follow these steps to recover the Boot-loader: How To Recover Kindle Fire HD 8.9" Bootloader*

Note: Please be aware of two main options in the Menu - one is Fastboot Mode where you have several Menu Operations that use Fastboot to execute properly and two is ADB Mode where you have several Menu Operations that use ADB to execute properly.

Backup Option #1 Note: When selecting Backup Option 1 the images will be backed up to the SD Card in a folder named KindleBackup. Please copy this folder to your desktop until we are able to upload it to our secure servers. There will be a restore option in the future that will automatically pull YOUR images for restoration. There is a known Bug in Windows where you will not see the images in the Kindle Internal Drive which can be found in Computer. To overcome this issue, please download and install WiFi File Transfer then open your Web Browser to transfer these Backup files from your Kindle to the PC.

Backup Option #2 Note: When selecting Backup Option 2 the images are first copied to the Kindle, then they are transfered to your Computer inside a folder named Backup which can be found inside the C:\KFFirstAide folder.

*Note: After several conference calls with the Amazon Development Team we found Amazon applied a patch to the Bootloader in an effort to lock down the Bootloader, this patch rarely causes the Bootloader to stick or Bootloop, please use the above link to release the Bootloader. Step 3: Download Boot Image Number 1 from here (save the image to the KFFirstAide Folder): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54456659/kfhd-8.2.3/Images/boot-prod.img

Step 4: Download Recovery Image Number 2 from here (save the image to the KFFirstAide Folder): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/54456659/kfhd-8.2.3/Images/recovery-prod.img

Step 5: Open up an Administrative Command Prompt from within the KFFirstAide Folder by opening up the KFFirstAide Folder then press your Right Hand Mouse Key while you are over the KFFirstAide Folder contents, then select Open a command prompt here. You should see something like

    Code:
    C:\Users\Your Name\KFFirstAide>
Step 6: Next you would make sure the Kindle Fire is plugged into USB and Turned off, type the following and press enter after the command while the Kindle is off and plugged into USB:

    Code:
    fastboot reboot -i 0x1949
Step 6: You will see a Windows Command Prompt that will look like:

    Code:
    C:\Users\Your Name\KFFirstAide>fastboot reboot -i 0x1949
    <waiting for device>
Step 7: Next Power on the Kindle While you see the above, one the Kindle Boots the Kindle will suddenly reboot back into Fastboot although we have seen this step free the Bootloader, so if the Kindle begins to Boot normally unplug it from USB, if the Kindle boot back to Fastboot red screen proceed to step 8.

Step 8: While the Kindle is in Fastboot Mode type the following at the Windows Command Prompt:
    Code:
    fastboot flash recovery recovery-prod.img -i 0x1949
    Code:
    fastboot erase cache -i 0x1949
    fastboot erase userdata -i 0x1949
    fastboot reboot -i 0x1949
Step 9: Leave the Kindle Plugged into USB. Wait for the device to Boot back to Fastboot, if the device boot back to a Fastboot screen with odd vertical line running through it, stop here, the Kindle has begun the recovery phase. If the Kindle begins it recovery, it will react odd and reboot several times, this is normal. Wait 10 to 15 minutes. If the Kindle boot back to Red Fastboot Screen proceed to Step 10.

Step 10: Leave the Kindle Plugged into USB. Next type the following command:

    Code:
    fastboot flash boot boot-prod.img -i 0x1949
Step 11: Next let's do a little house cleaning. The following commands wipe the old Dalvik Cache and User Data which is, in simple, tied to the old Android Operating System. Having said this, when the new OS attempts to retrieve data from these partitions, a content stream of errors occur in the background, causing the Kindle to react VERY slow and at times completely unresponsive. To eliminate this problem we will wipe these partitions before booting the new OS. Please enter the following commands, press enter after each one:

    Code:
    fastboot erase cache -i 0x1949
    fastboot erase userdata -i 0x1949
    fastboot reboot -i 0x1949
Step 12: Unplug from USB. The Kindle HD 8.9" will reboot with an odd Fastboot screen with vertical lines running through it, this is normal, do not interrupt the recovery. Let the Kindle begin it's recovery phase. This may take up to 10 to 15 minutes and the Kindle will reboot several times.

Step 13: Once the Kindle Stabilizes, please be sure to apply the Amazon OTA Patch before connecting the Kindle to your WiFi, otherwise you will loose Root and Google Play Store which are both installed on the images.

Step 14: After you applied the patches please wait for the Kindle to rebuild itself, this can take up to a couple of hours. If after 4 hours the Kindle is still reacting slow, perform a Kindle Fire HD 8.9" Factory Reset. This option can be found under the More+ > Device > Restore to Factory Defaults. We find this last step is rarely used.
