I have got a Galaxy S II . I bought it around a year ago . It was using gingerbread . Over the year I have used "I9100XXLPQ" and "I9100DXLP7" .

Yesterday I have Downloaded "GT-I9100 - I9100XWLPX" that I found here "http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1544487" and rooted it from here "http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1877270" .

And guess what ? I am reading all about eMMC Bug Now !

Now I am reading that it is a possibility that I may hit the eMMC Bug somehow but I don't know what I needs to do to avoid it . First I read it here "http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1756242" Which doesn't say LPX exactly and the log from PhilZ Root "http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1877270" Looked promising . But I have downloaded "got brickbug ?" app and it says : DANGER ! This eMMC chip is *Known* to have the brick bug !

XWLPX is based on android 4.0.4 and it is a lot faster that those previous 2 firmwares that I had and I am loving it but I yet to test the battery .

I believe you have to do a "nandroid" something to hit the bug and I don't know exactly what it is . What I usually do is Download the Firmware . Load it as PDA in odin3 v1.85 and click start . And something about CWM recovery but I know this much that it comes with some roots and I had it before but the new root doesn't install an app for it called CWM Clockwork mod (I think) . and let me add I did a factory reset and sd wipe when flasing from gingerbread to ICS but not from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 . What I understand is I don't brick my phone unless I mess with some sort of stuff which is ok for now but I want to try Jellybean if i found a good one or an official release . Correct me if I'm wrong .

tnx in andvance .

-------------------------

Edit : I actually did some more reading and found out Clockwork recovery mode is what when I press volume up & home & power . And I had it before and with the new root it has changed version to Clockworkmod v6.0.1.4 recovery . At page http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1794758 it suggests the people who are unsure to flash clockwork mode which I think I already have . I quite like to change ROM and try speedmod and CyanogenMod 10 and siyah . Can anyone confirm I am past the brickbug ?

the bug itself is trickered by using cwm recovery in 4.0.4 SO PLEASE DONT DO THAT

1.TO AVOID IT: you have to flash a custom kernel(like siyah kernel or someelse)
if you do that you are in no danger because the brickbug is removed in custom kernels

2. to flash the kernel use Odin not cwm

3. you are on stock kernel now and its dagerous is have the brickbug

I believe you just have to flash a custom ROM to make 'sure' that you wont face any eMMC brickbug.

Solved

Thank you for response ...

I have successfully installed siyah kernel which It removes the bug . There really should be a Serious alert when downloading a ROM like that in its download page . right now I have flashed CyanogenMod 10 and then flashed back siyah kernel for dual boot . Can't believe I lived with those crappy officials for a year . However battery Life is not impressive ... But everyone says give it a little time ...

SOLVED .
