In the menu of LGMobile Support Tool choose "Customer Support"
then click on "Recovery Phone"
in the pop-up window enter either IMEI/ESN/MEID or Model+S/N and click "Check"
Then the Mobile Update Tool should pop-up and start downloading+updating
when you enter your imei don't type the hyphens because it will take it as incorrect.

With reference to your question, download the original firmware of KU5900 here: http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata...00/V10P_00.kdz

then follow the steps found here: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=24164378&postcount=23

After a successful flash, you can upgrade/flash and root to a stock P970. Follow below.

This is what I did, grab/download all the files on this thread: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=23790405&postcount=171

- Follow steps #1 up to 9.
- It is important DO NOT EXECUTE OR PERFORM STEP #10 Choose CP file or you will flash your radio and will have no signal problem with loss of IMEI. In short, skip step #10.
- And take this IMPORTANT NOTE, in step #11 in Choose AP file, do not select the .FLS file, instead select the .BIN file.
- Proceed with step #12 to 16.

Just follow the steps I wrote above and you'll have a fully working KU5900 with GB v20b. Just upgrade/flash a newer version (v20o perhaps) after you successfully flash/root.

Enjoy!

:) ahaha, i was trying this and smartflash is not responding. :D trying again.

    Realy ??

    I did :

    - Flash korean V20L with KDZ updater (V20L_00.kdz).
-Only flash CP.fls of V20a with smartflash.
    -Boot, select auto network

Just wait to see the new upload : 674 mb. :)
It's the comb from Marquee and Korean Black. I'm trying right now. I'll post if it boots.

Seems that all i get is : "Installation aborted" something went wrong.

Hmm, my flashable zip went through. But it boot looped. Even the bootanimation I replaced (Google) showed and I'm stuck there.. I replaced some files in the system folder, I was hoping it will boot to see the changes.

EDIT: 2nd zip booted. :) using V20L boot.img (I used the Nightly#20 zip as base). ADW was inserted, Gingerbread keyboard. SD still won't mount, even formatting it in the phone (error). I replaced lge-ril.so as well.

make sure in the system folder of the zip you have these (and only these): I only used winrar, don't extract, just drag and drop, then (store).

    3rd party
    app
    bin
    etc
    fonts
    framework
    kaf
    lib
    media
    usr
    xbin
    build.prop

Hmm, it was V20L on top of CM7. How can that be, all apps for both are working. It's like having V20L stock with CM goodies. Loh, will continue tomorrow.

    http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGKU5900/AKTFTL/V20l_00/V20L_00.kdz

Download it progress... but it large enough, 314.41 MB.

Booted alright. :) I am now looking into gsm problem. There is for sure a way to solve it.

Edit: everytime I got a text message, i receive it twice.
    Still can't receive calls

Edit the build.prop as well. So once booted it's already in english.
