I decided this subject deserved it's own thread. These voices are hard to find, and I bet most, if not all, of you are sickin' tired of hearing the same guidance voice over and over. No more! :D

Editing vpm's is easy, but kinda tedious. There's two user friendly programs for that purpose: Voice Editor v0.8 and Turboccc's NonTTS Voice Editor.

English and Spanish Tutorial for Voice Editor, also with Borat's voice as example:

Terminator/Governator:

(of my own creation, made out of speechs and movies  - I know it's not as nice as the other voices, but it was my 1st approach heheh -)

The Devil:

And let me point out that these are not TTS files (Text to Speech). Which means, they won't be saying any street names. However, if your GPS does support TTS, you will also be able to upload these .vpms (losing the TTS directions).

If you would like to edit .vpm files with TTS, go to Turbo's website, where you'll find TTSVoiceEditor, an excellent program:
Code:
http://turboccc.wikispaces.com/Downloads

Voice Editor's creator is Rodolphe Suescun, user at GPSPassion's forum. He goes by the nick “Rodzilla”, and the topic where one can ask questions about his software is here (you'll have to speak french, though):
Code:

Links to sound editing/recording software:
Code:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/?lang=es
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/
http://sox.sourceforge.net/

(this was part of the tutorial, I had to delete most of it cause it would not fit in this post; get Borat's file if you want the tutorial)

Installation instructions: Download the file, extract, upload the English_American_.vpm file of your choice to your Voice folder in your Garmin device/Storage card (previously make a backup of your original English_American_.vpm).

(I included Stewie's fixed voice too)

Code:

These are modified pigtone's .vup files, turned into .vpm files, which you can upload to your device or mobile phone with Mobile XT, without using Pigtone's uploader. :D

More voices: SEDARA, PIERRE PISSANT

HOT HOT HOT Sedara, this is one dirty chick! RATED: R (don't use this .vpm if you have children in the vehicle). This is a .vpm file, just upload it to your device (1st keep a backup copy of your original English_American_.vpm).

Code:

Enjoy! That's all there is, for the moment...

P.s.: I reuploaded Stewie, apparently fixed now. Pls report.
P.s.2.: Had to update Jill as well... hope she's fixed now. Pls report.
The problem was that some phrases would get cut right at the start or in the middle (e.g.: "searching for..." instead of "searching for satellites").

If you get the *.vpm files of another Garmin device that does support text to speech and put it in your voice folder of your Garmin Mobile XT installation, will Garmin Mobile XT now support street names?

Thanks in advance!
