Not hassling, but just curious, how long d'ya think it will take to get HW accelerated video and USB working?

As a big function for this gorgeous AMOLED screen is for watching films.. (and without USB its kinda annoying to load up movies lol)

other than that... big big thumbs up for your work. My moto atrix is using a similarly unofficial KANGed CM9 build and it gave it a whole new lease of life.

Hmm I can't seem to start my wifi module so I cannot see or connect to a Wifi network. Running alpha 1 on the PT-6810. Is there anything I can do to fix this bug?

I've been using on and off for a few versions now, and I have to say that you're doing a fantastic job getting this going.

My experience with WiFi is pretty good, it's detected all my access points and is able to connect to all of them, but reception is lacking.

The speed and usability is amazing, and you've got me excited for a version I can use daily.

Just wondering if it's possible to donate, and if I did, what the money would be used for?

*is jealous of you international 7.7 users*
I'm in Seattle, so you can't say that we are all international users (we just don't want Verizon). :)

Also, it shouldn't be that hard to get it up and running on the i815 -- we are currently working off of the i815 kernel source drop anyway. Someone just needs to speed a night to make the device tree and kernel configuration (most of the work is in the c210-common device tree, and the P6800 device tree is a good starting place for making the i815 device tree). This would also give you guys a recovery.

When I figure them out :p. For USB, I have started this effort (see here), and everything looks like it should work, but nothing actually does :-/.

As for HW accelerated video, I have no idea. There are a number of closed source components (EGL, hwcomposition/tvout, and firmware). We are currently using the galaxys2's hwcomposition/tvout, but we can't use their EGL on our current kernel -- we need to either port teamhacksung's smdk4210 kernel to our device, or get ics source.

I agree, although I transfer most of my media over wifi, which is why I've spent a good amount of time trying to get that working.

Thanks for the update, OP!
Been using this build for a few days just for kicks (I dont recommend flashing yet if you need to depend on your device) and can't wait until USB gadgets and WiFi are stable!!

Wonderfull work ! This is awesome !

I tried a few days ago the DP 2.1 on my GT-P6810 and now I think i'LL use the rc0 daily since wifi works :)

Thank you very much

EDIT : OK this is a very good progress ! But unfortunately, wifi works... only 1 meter from the wireless AP.

I have added googles apps for cyanogem mod 9 but when I try to add an existing account it closes and come back to the settings panel...

Keep Up the good work ! Hope to see this on my Tablet soon :)

First off Thank you for your outstanding work in getting ICS to our bug ridden tablets, you're a device saver :)

Like above I'm having issues trying to connect an existing google account as well as a new one. There is also a bootlap when its asks for your name. Other than than it seems dandy though I see what people mean about the Wifi ;)

I found that you can get out of the login loop by just pressing back, and you'll be logged in anyway.

I had issues downloading apps though, where pressing the install button would cause Google Play to crash.

That is correct I mentioned that prior in this thread.. New comers please read the WHOLE thread before alerting the OP of "issues" as he is busy polishing the ROM.

    I've started porting CyanogenMod 9 to the Galaxy Tab 7.7. Do not flash this unless you know how to backup your data and especially unless you know how to get back to stock. If you don't already know how to do this, you might want to familiarize yourself with the process now, while the developers try to stablize CM9. I don't have time to help people unbrick their devices, and will not take responsibility for any user bricking their device, you flash this at your own risk.

    If you are a developer interested in helping out with the porting effort, please PM me.

    Known Issues
    • HDMI dongle doesn't work
    • Some USB keyboards aren't working
    • I815: CDMA and LTE isn't enabled
    • I815: GPS doesn't work
    • I815: Autobrightness is broken
    Download
    Google apps can be found at http://goo.im/gapps
    Old

    Flash
    Flash from ClockworkMod Recovery, make sure to wipe data/factory reset. No whining if it eats your homework.

    Build Instructions
    Setup a standard CyanogenMod 9 build environment (there are plenty of tutorials on the web already on how to do this). Then
    1. Add add the following entries to your local manifest
      Code:
      <project path="device/samsung/XXX"
          name="ohanar/android_device_samsung_XXX"
          revision="ics"
          remote="github" />
      <project path="device/samsung/smdk4210-tab"
          name="ohanar/android_device_samsung_smdk4210-tab"
          revision="ics"
          remote="github" />
      <project path="kernel/samsung/smdk4210-tab"
          name="ohanar/android_kernel_samsung_smdk4210-tab"
          revision="ics"
          remote="github" />
      where you replace XXX with your device (i815, p6200, p6210, p6800, p6810, or t869).
    2. Make sure that your device is running the newest build of CyanogenMod 9 or stock ICS if your device has it.
    3. Make sure your device is plugged in and has debugging enabled.
    4. Run the extract-files script from your particular device tree.
    5. Run vendor/cm/get-prebuilts
    6. Your sources are now ready, to build run
      Code:
      $ . build/envsetup.sh # this sets up the build environment
      $ lunch cm_XXX-userdebug # this selects your device
      $ mka bacon # this builds CM

    Everyone who is having trouble with wifi, make sure you do the following
    1. Wipe/Factory reset
    2. If you know how make a logcat.
    3. If you made a logcat, post it, and if you didn't don't post anything -- I'm fully aware that Wifi isn't working for everyone
    4. Try the hotfix I've attached to this post

    @loccera there is an old wpa_supplicant in the newest build. Thats why wifi isnt working for most of the users.
    If you mean it doesn't have the wpa_supplicant from stock ICS, that is because it is impossible to include a binary wpa_supplicant in the CM build process (if you tried, it would get overwritten by the one that is built from source). The reasoning is that wpa_supplicant is GPL'ed, so by law any alterations made to it that are used in a distributed binary must be publicly shared -- unfortunately Samsung has decided to ignore the law and has not released their modifications. The best I can do is provide a hotfix zip with the stock ICS wpa_supplicant until I manage to get the opensource driver fully functional.

    Thread Cleaned

    I have cleaned all of the off topic posts from the last few pages. I remind all this is a development thread and not for general discussion.

    EDIT: Once again i have cleaned this thread, please only post here if you have something to add to the development. Lets keep it on topic from now!

    What I was really doing while all y'all were complaining about your lack of mobile data :p

    So aorth just fixed RIL, the last outstanding issue from switching kernels that has plagued the Tab 7+. Unfortunately we weren't as lucky, and had a few more:
    • screen glitches (which make the build unusable)
    • the vibrator is broken (and produces annoying beeps)
    I'm currently waiting on the note source drop before trying to fix those, but once I do, I plan on posting a new build which should have the following fixed
    • usb gadget support (adb should work on all platforms, mtp should work, usb tethering, etc...)
    • hardware accelerated video
    • proof of concept camera (this and wifi are what I'm currently working on)
    • possibly other stuff that I'm forgetting
