EDIT: This has been suspended (by me), as it serves no purpose anymore.
Here's a little something I originally cooked up for the users of Topogigi ROMs, but works on any ROM which has the Andrev OC daemon installed.

It's an app with which you can adjust the OC-daemons settings, and apply them immediately.

Usage should be self-explanatory, ask in this thread if you have any questions.

WARNING: Remember that you may get an unstable phone if you overclock too high. Not all phones can handle high overclocks, especially not over time. I advise you to never go above 1216Mhz, even if it seems stable at higher frequencies.

Same here, unfortunately. Topogigi 1.9 / HP 24BPP 1.1

OC 1216; undervolt =50

Ok. My app does nothing more that kill the daemon and start it again, so that's probably what crashes the phone.

I really don't know the specifics of the HP kernel, but please, anyone who experiences this, please test under stable conditions, no undervolting, no overclocking, just try to save settings while already running at 800-1016 and restart the daemon then. If it still happens I'd appreciate if you can catch a logcat of what happens right before the reboot. (the OC daemon spits out some messages when it starts.)

Off to bed now, will attend to this tomorrow.

Well, that was fun.

The HP kernel reboots for me as soon as I put the phone in my dock, making it impossible (well, very impractical) to even install another version of the program. I knew it was sensitive, but not that much.

So that means I have no chance at all to find any workaround, and that noone using it will be able to logcat anything either.

That kernel is a WIP, and is simply not recommended at this time. If you use it, expect crashes. And don't look at your phone the wrong way.

Haha!

Nice utility, man. Very useful for adjusting clock on the go, particularly downwards. Gonna leave my 2X set at max=800 today and ramp it down to 389 when wi-fi tethering my tablet during travel to and from work.

OC is cool and it's sort of fun to watch those high numbers but the 2X runs fine at 800 for the way I use it.

edit: BTW, works great on TG 1.9, no fancy tricks.

Thank you.

In the name of full disclosure though, the ability to over/underclock is already there in the ROM (I see from your post you know this, this is just to address others reading this post), my app just makes it a little more accessible.

But I'll take all the praise I can get ;-)

Take care.

Want praise? I shall worship at your feet if you could add functionality to set profiles, a-la Pimp. Widget, when pressed, displays a menu of saved profiles. User selects one and the app does the rest, except for the screen-off /on thing, of course.

Doable?

Doable? Absolutely.

Worth the effort? Mmm, not so sure. I'm working on another, much bigger project which is taking most of my time. I basically made the app cause I needed to get away from it a little bit. So if that ever happens again, who knows, it may happen. (But if I'm going to do that I guess I should go full hog with over/undervolting as well, in which case it'd probably be quicker to write my own daemon than to use the disjointed elements in place now.)

For now I'll put this in the pile of "Possible Projects." Thanks for the suggestion though.

More praise :)

Lovin' this app!

I had the 2X running at 800 for most of the day with around an hour at 389 while tethering, a total of 30 minutes browsing the web and replying to emails, another 30 minutes streaming video from BBC iPlayer through Cisco VPN at 1Ghz (the Rostropovich documentary is brilliant - only three more days before it's pulled), 30 minutes of listening to music through my fab new Sony MDR-7506 headphones while doing the laundry and dishes, 15 minutes testing some games at 1200 and a total of approximately 20 minutes of phone time (max=800 / gov=powersave). All day, wifi was set to never sleep and, 12 hours later, battery was at 28 %.

Fantastic.

This was under TG 1.9 with Topoblaze_06102011 kernel. Smooth as silk. For kicks, I re-flashed spica's HP kernel when the battery was at 19 % to see if I could squeeze another couple of hours out of this great phone - looks like it's easily going to make it to 14 hours.

Trym: if you add a little routine to display the label 'Reboot device!' in place of 'Restart OC Daemon' if spica's kernel is detected, all problems will simply vanish into thin air and you can put this baby to bed.

Pretty smart, huh? :p

Once again: thanks.

That's good news (I was only joking - maybe badly). I understand your work / family situation (same here) and appreciate your time, experience and knowledge, spica.

FYI, I got around the VPN issue by using VPNC widget to connect to my service by Cisco IPSec , bypassing the native VPN module.

For now, I have to go back to Topoblaze_06102011 (I'm addicted to Trym's app) but after Sunday, LG O2X will be even better that IIGS, thanks to you and Topogigi.

Bravi ragazzi!

    No, question :D
Works fine here (v1.9 with HP Kernel 1.1)
    THX

Thanks, good to know it's working on another kernel.

That would be great if you could do this.
    Ty m8. :)

An update will come during the day. Trying to decide whether I should always have a button there, which either takes you to the market to install the Undervolt app or starts it, or just a start-button.
