[Q] How can I disable in-call proximity sensor?

So my Nexus 5 has a cracked screen and the crack runs right in front of the proximity sensor, so when I put the phone to my head, the screen just goes dark, but when I take it away from my head it won't turn back on which makes it impossible for me to hang up and it gan get pretty awkward or even expensive when I get someone's voicemail and I have to go through the whole process.

Can't I simply disable it?

Anyone? It happenend again and it sucks so much.. can't I delete the drivers or something?
