Could anyone tell me how to re-enable Tachi Dialer? I installed Inesoft Phone, and it replaced my Tachi Dialer skin with itself. Thank you.

This may be more appropriate in the radio thread but since it started when i flashed the 12/17 28014 standard EnergyROM i thought i would post it here.

Has anybody noticed excessive battery drain? Was the battery life better on 28011 build? I am using the 1.17.25.09 radio and the Rilphone.dll that was included in the 12/17 ROM.

i know all the basic tricks to improve battery life (turning off 3G, dimming the backlight and such).

any feedback would be appreciated :)
How long is your ROM running on the phone? A couple of hours isn't enough, give it a day or two and at least two to three charge cycles to judge on the battery life.

Hi Bajt,

It did in the past. TomTom takes a little while to fix for the gps I find, a while meaning typically from 1 to 5 minutes.

I'll let you know if now I've flashed back whether I still have the same issue with gps showing the wrong position.

Oh and everything seems much faster now. However - note I haven't turned on sms threaded yet... I'll do that overnight - as the process to convert from non threaded to threaded takes a long while...

Tomtom positioning worked with this rom. Also I've been reading the radio forum which may affect GPS fix times, reception and data. But I don't quite understand it yet, I think the software for the receiver is just a part of the rom and can be changed independantly. Its not clear whether you need to flash the radio then reinstall rom and its not clear why one is more suitable than others on a specific carrier. Also its not clear why it affects the GPS. Let me know if you find out about it and can explain it in simple terms.

Cheers,

Chris

Hello,

I just flashed EnergyROM_21884_RAPHAEL_13.Dec.2009_StandardM2.5_D usk after having EnergyROM_21877_RAPHAEL_27.Nov.2009_StandardM2.5 for some time.
They are both great roms.
Only I don't understand why in 21877 all dairy and contacts-links in manilla opened Pocket Informant (without me having altered anything) I would like to have this on 21844 as well but it doesn't work and I can't get it to work.

Any tips?

Re: Screenshots

I like my home screen to be as unassuming as possible. I want it to look "minimally sleek". I have tried MaxManila and the dusk theme. While I really like the full screen options of maxy's, it's just not for me. So I started screwing around with the CFCgui and viewing some manila files, when I stumbled onto a few interesting things. I have never been a fan of the weather animations because it's cloudy this time of year and blocks most of the screen. All of the animated backgrounds seemed a little campy for my tastes. So... I decided to try and make an animated background of my own. I wanted it to be fairly subdued. What I have done is just renamed some manila files to create a whole new look. The animation is the stock background with some highlights swirling around the screen. The effect is sort of like gigantic spotlights swirling in the night sky. The look is very minimal and you might miss it if you aren't looking closely.

All you have to do is copy three manila files to the windows folder on your device. You will have to overwrite the other files, so I have also included a folder with the originals. Once you have the new files on your device, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to soft-reset. When manila is done loading, tap the right soft key on the home screen (menu). Choose the first entry, Home Wallpaper. Tap animated wallpaper, then pick the first one. It may appear to be the purple "raw" animation, but just trust me and pick this one. Once you return to the home tab and activate the animation you will see my tweak. If you don't like it and want to return to the purple "raw" animation, just copy the files in the original folder to the windows folder or just pick a different background.

By no means am I any kind of tech wizard. I just thought that I would share my setup with all of you. I have also included a folder with the stock gray color home pieces. NRG tweaked a couple of these files to include a blue hue to some of the bars. My files just return these bars to their original gray. I think this looks a little better with my theme. Installation instructions are the same, just drop the manila files in the windows folder.

Like I said, I am pretty much a technical noob. I hope some one else might be able to run with this concept and come up with some new animated backgrounds.

Thank you all for your contributions to this thread and xda as a whole.

P.S. I am trying to work on some more realistic TF3D icons also. If anyone has any ideas or questions, please feel free to PM me.

Curious why you pair to an external GPS with your phone. I get locks in about 10 seconds with the built in GPS.

I am in the United States. I use the Fone Fanatics Cab that sets it to use the nokia.supl thing. It sets a few other AT&T specif things. There are other versions for other carriers.

If you need to pair to an external GPS, you might as well just buy a seperate GPS unit. I picked up a TomTom 125 on Black Friday for $59. I like the audible turn by turn directions and it has a larger screen. Uses nice big fonts and shows my speed next to the speed limit.

About the 4000 messages you have. Back them up. Keep them on your computer. Don't restore them all. If you use PIM backup, uncheck binary. You can then import it into excel with ; as the seperator.

You can then restore, but delete some off of your phone, maybe keep a months worth or something. Large numbers of text messages do cause problems. It's been mentioned in the thread a few times, but not super often, because most people don't have 4000 messages.

Text messages can be backed up, altered, and then restored, so your text message log is not evidence of any commitments. They are only for your reference.

I am on the 28014 Christmas theme and have found it to be very stable.

UC or Sashime can add registry customizations in.

There is a free cab file creator on xda somewhere that you can also create registry entries with. It's called QuickCab-2.0

Only the cab is required to put at least 1 file on your system.
Just have it put a small txt file in your temp folder.

I use Visual Studio 2008 Professional to make my cabs. It has the same limitation though.

Deleting messages off my phone when you have to select each one by one is proving to take a while... Do you know of any app that you can do that on the PC?

I flashed on the 16th, let it get low, then charge it to full with the phone off. hmmm i'll let it simmer a couple more days

See post #4 in this thread.

BATTERY SAVING TIPS

The first few days

• There is nothing special about this ROM to make it use more power than other ROMs except that it is tweaked for performance over battery life. After things have settled down, you should get a couple of days usage out of a charge.
• Immediately after flashing, you will probably observe very poor battery performance. This is due to the charging circuit having to reset itself.
• The battery meter will not settle down and give accurate readings for a few battery cycles. Give it a few days.

• For the first few battery charging cycles, try to charge to 100% with phone off and then allow battery to drain down quite a bit before recharging. This is so the meter will calculate drain well.

I can't change my input thru settings/personal/input either (it goes back to full QWERTY),
however if I tap and hold on the keyboard at the bottom the input selection menu comes up
and thru that I can change it to Swype or any other option. The only thing, after phone reset
it goes back to standard windows keyboard and I have to change it back to Swype using the method I just described.

Search for a program called sipchange.

Honestly you wouldn't be able to see much of the animation via a screenshot, but I will post what the home looks like during the animations. My girlfriend says it looks like ghosts flying around the screen. I think it looks more like spotlights roaming around the dark background.

I tried to make a video using mymobiler. Although it is very choppy, you can get the idea. The actual animation is very smooth and it is a little more elaborate.

I would say if your interested give it a try because it's easy to run and will not damage anything... unless you use the purple "raw" animation. All I really did was replace the purple background.

Awesome Rom

I just flashed the latest rom last night (21885) and I have to say its amazing. One thing that I wanted to ask if anyone else had noticed is if the little tiny image of a contact card that sits on top of the image of people in the peoples tab glitches out often and is just a white square where the image used to be? It's not really a problem, just thought I would ask and if there is any way to remove the image entirely somewhere in the phone.

Deleting messages off my phone when you have to select each one by one is proving to take a while... Do you know of any app that you can do that on the PC?

I don't maybe someone else does.

Possibly Microsoft my phone.
Or maybe PIM backup, manually edit the backup file with notepad or something that won't impose it's own format or meta data. Then after a flash or hard reset, reimport them.

I never used to even backup my text messages, so I don't have very many. And in a typical month, I send and receive less than 200 total messages, probably closer to 50 or 75. And the majority of those are things like: "In a meeting, I'll call you back in an hour."

Hopefully someone sees this and posts an answer for you.

I have to say, I've been using the (2.1) 12.17.09 - 28014 Standard ROM for about 24hrs now, and with all my apps installed... this is the first time where it seems EVERYTHING is working flawlessly... I want to change the phone canvas and that is the only thing I have yet to modify on this particular flash... I'm just not sure which one to use... only features I want are energy theme, curtain and conference calling ability...

here is the list of my installed apps:

my only gripe is that cRaCKwHoRe's Snooze Options.cab seems to change the way the notification popups look. I would like to somehow revert them back to the "energy style" popups. even though I have most notification popups disable in my settings, the ones that do popup I'd like to have look the way NRG intended them to. if there is a fix for this please let me know, otherwise it looks as though I've found the best, most stable ROM since the 23504 build which other than a couple small graphical quirks, was definitely the most stable build prior to this one... I will update in a few days on battery use... thanks NRG for a great build!

P.S. did the restore using SASHIMI, which I still have a couple more things to figure out before this is a completely automated restore, but it sure took 99% of the work out my restore... anyone who isn't using it should promptly slap themselves in the face (j/k) and then get with it =P

Welcome to the "EnergyROM" thread !

This development thread is for my "Energy" custom firmware series for the HTC Touch Pro (Raphael) device.

The current build numbers and date can be seen in the title of this thread. I usually update the ROMs about twice a week, as new builds come down the pipe or as new software/updates are available.

I build my ROMs with four main goals.

    • Eye candy ( I want my ROM to look great and for it to all flow together nicely)
    • Speed !!!
    • Smoothness, consistency and good aesthetics
    • Stability through private beta testing before public release

I pre-configure a lot of things in my ROM, because when I flash it on my phone, I want it ready to go. So, expect the backlight to be set at the maximum brightness, the ringtone, sms/email and other notifications to already be set. Doing it this way, makes for a nice ROM that's ready out of the box.

I recommend learning to backup your settings with either Sashimi or UC (User Customization). Backing up with SPB Backup or similar products, is NOT recommended, as they tend to backup the previous release's registry/file bugs as well!

Looking at the download folder you will find two core versions of my ROM.

    • The 21916 Build which is the most reliable, fast and bug free release. It has the Start menu button at the top left corner just like a stock ROM. I recommend you start with this first! :)

    • The 29022 Build that's the latest in the 6.5.X series with the Start menu button at the bottom left corner and big softkeys. These builds reflect the latest cutting edge technology from Microsoft. These are also much more finger friendly throughout.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can stay up to date on the status of my ROM development by "following" me on Twitter.

It's definitely the fastest way to get in touch with me and please don't be afraid to tweet me if you see major issues with the ROMs.
I generally do not answer "support" questions on Twitter, as it's really not the proper medium for that. Service packs and quick fixes will always be released as links in my tweets and that's definitely the fastest way to get a fix for a ROM.

To follow me on twitter, click here!

If you own an European\Asian Touch PRO, use the "Keyboard Selector" application under Utilities > Tweaks (after you flash the ROM) to select the "Pro" keyboard layout. The ROM comes with the american AT&T Fuze layout enabled by default.

This post features all the Cookie Hometab based ROMs I make.

The original ROM is the "energy" version and that's a good starting point. All the rest, are themes applied to that ROM.
They all come in two versions,
Cookie 1.8.5 and Cookie 2.0 (the ROM filename will be labeled "Cookie" and "Cookie.2.0, plus the name of the theme)

You can see more screenshots of these ROMs a couple of posts down.

The two Cookie versions look pretty similar, but Cookie 2.0 has multiple sliding homescreens/freely moveable widgets (similar to Android) and
quite a few more features and speed, however it's still in 'beta'. Cookie 1.8.5 is considered the less complicated and stable build for now.

    My own 'Energy' style

    • This is the best ROM version and the way Sense should have been designed by HTC
    • Offers the biggest customization ability out of all versions. You can add/remove bars or items on the homescreen, arrange items any way you like, plus lots of extra features
    • Three built in lockscreens. "HD Mini" style, Manila style or Windows style
    • 3 pages of quicklinks with a configurable amount of shortcuts displayed
    • 3 Homescreen layouts to choose from, as seen in the above screenshots, all completely customizable !
    • Link to the original thread for this mod is here > Click <
    Dinik's "Anastasia"
    • This ROM series is skinned with Dinik's great "Anastasia" theme applied on everything.
    • Everything has been skinned, including Sense, the start menu items, the soft keyboard, parts of the dialer... etc
    _LeCiel_'s ".sencity"

    • This ROM is themed with the .sencity theme released by _LeCiel_ who is a very talented artist ! Please support his work if possible.
    • .sencity is not %100 complete yet, but _LeCiel_ is working hard on finishing his work to completely skin the entire ROM.
    • Link to the original thread for this mod is here > Click <
DJC & Bobsbbq's "Touch Of Glass"
    • This ROM series is skinned with DJC's "Touch of Glass" theme throughout Sense and the Start Menu
    • More will be skinned as DJC continues his work on the theme in the future...
    • Link to the original thread for this mod is here > Click <
    ElCondor's "GTX"

    • This ROM has the white GTX theme applied
    • Android styled taskbar, matching dialer, matching start menu background and Action screen background
    • GTX is a total reskin of the operating system, so expect a very different (white) experience

    ROM features at a glance:

    • Very fast startup time. You won't find any startup wizards in this ROM. You'll be up and running in a couple minutes after flashing the ROM and ready to go. No need to spend time to set everything up.

    • XDA_UC is built in. It will import your custom XML and REG files from your storage card after first boot.

    • My own Settings Exporter application is found in the Tools folder. Use it to export all your settings after you customize the device. When a new ROM comes down the line, use it to import everything and save time.

    • Everything is setup to use the phone right after flashing. Sounds, notifications, all options, etc

    • The HTC Messaging client is removed, leaving the windows built SMS client for much faster texting, but still able to use a nicely skinned Sense text messaging app with "iphone style" messaging bubbles.

'Standard' ROMs that have no addons installed on the homescreen. Stock Sense 2.5 !

    'Energy'

    • This series retains the stock functionality of the Sense UI. The files have been compressed by "CFC" compression. making the UI lighter and faster
    • This ROM still retains my theme and style, plus all the regular apps you find in my ROMs.
    • There are no homescreen addon-ons in this ROM. The best speed and the most stock functionality.

    MaxSense UI (android style homescreen)

    • This is a complete rewrite of the Sense homescreen, by maxycy.
    • It features a 3 screen, Android style, homescreen with widgets! The widgets can be placed ANYWHERE on the three screens.
    • 75 Quicklink accessible on all tabs

    Titanium (ROMs for raw speed!)

    • This is a minimal ROM version without Sense in it. It's used primarily for people that like to customize the default 6.5 homescreen (Titanium)
    • You can use it to install alternate homescreen interfaces like SPB Mobile Shell, etc
    • Very low memory footprint and good battery life, but very simple and lacks a lot of features that you would otherwise have available in Sense...

    Camera / G-Sensor Issue

In the Rhodium, I found that HTCSensorSDK.dll was missing in both the December 11th and December 13th ROMs.

I found this by running depends.exe on Camera.exe.

    I saw that HTCSensorSDK.dll was a dependency.

Since there were also G-Sensor issue, it seemed like a likely cause.

I uploaded my December 5th version of that file. A user applied it.

    The Camera started working.

That particular file might not be compatible with the Raphael, so I recommend someone look at the last ROM where the camera worked. backup HTCSensorSDK.dll from the windows folder.

Flash the latest ROM. Then copy the backed up file to the windows folder.

If it works, then zip it up and upload it.

Hope this helps. If it does, please remember the Thanks button.
