Ethermind's BATTERY DRIVER UPGRADE
for the XPERIA X1

DESCRIPTION

This CAB will install Ethermind's upgraded BATTERY DRIVER for the XPERIA X1, allowing the phone to display the taskbar's battery status in up to 1% increments
Registry settings to enable % battery readings are also included in the CAB

INSTRUCTIONS

Install MS SDKcerts first (some custom ROMs as mine already come with SDKcerts pre-installed)
Copy the CAB to device and click to install
Install any %-enabled battery taskbar icons set of your choice; a custom taskbar ehancement / skin with % icons is required because the stock taskbar doesn't have % battery icons. See post 2 for some links

DESCRIPTION

All credits to Ethermind for the upgraded battery driver
I have tested it on STOCK ROMs and my custom SEX1 ROMs, please test and report how it behaves on other custom ROMs
In my experience, the driver's accuracy is slightly diminished in the upper range, but who cares ?? It works !!

To "see" the % icon on the taskbar, a battery or full taskbar icons set (skin) with 100 battery icons is required (one icons for each %)

Here are some battery-only or full taskbar icons skins:

SEX1 Battery Enhancer with WM6.5 icons for Windows Mobile 6.1 & 6.5
[EDIT] (SEX1 Batt Enhancer install CAB already includes Ethermind's power driver inside)
FinixNover's battery icons set
Tsowen: ver 3, 4, 5 & 6.5
Angelusz's tsowens for XPERIA
SEX1cons "X series" for WM6.5
SEX1cons "X series" for WM6.1
[EDIT]: X series is currently 5% capable only, will update soon
SEX1cons "Q series"
SEX1cons "F series"
Ahen 6a & 6b battery / taskbar icons
Simplle battery icons with old style taskbar icons
Other taskbar icons sets or battery sets... (please report)

Will keep adding more links to many taskbars...

We didn't have Ethermind's upgraded driver when I created the X series, I wass tempted to make 10% icons only, but I decided to put 5% increments just in case

My expectations were exceeded by Ethermind's bright mind !!
Now I have to upgrade the X series filling all the missing icons
Lot's of work to do, so let's start !!

It´s working for me with only a minor bug that when fully
charged it doesn´t stay at 100% it drops to 98%.

plug it back in for a couple of mins, it should work then........ i had this problem until i was told how to correct it...... thanks to gtrab

The slight loss of accuracy in the upper range shouldn't be a problem to be grateful with Ethermind for ENHANCING our XPERIAS in this unexpected way !!

i am using X1 GENERIC_SE R2A)

FinixNover's battery icons set ... installed as a cab for step 3

BUT i am only getting this icon http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=424926

I thought the battery icon should be rounded according this thread

What am i missing here?

I tried to follow Ethermind guidelines but it ain't clear @ ALL

The circular battery icon you see in the second link belongs to another taskbar, not to finixnover's taskbar

If you install FinixNOver battery icons sets, of course you will see them displyed with their sqared battery

I guess the second link shows tsowens 6.5 taskbar icons set
On that pic, Ethermind is intending to show off the PERCENTS, NOT the battery ICONS themselves
Any battery icons will display percents

ok guys i still dont get it, what do i just have to do to install the percentage battery status in 1% increments on my xperia. do i have to install that SDKcerts first and then that Ethermind? What exactly is the difference of this 2 cab files guys?

First, install MS SDK certificates (SDK certs)
Second, install Ethermind's driver
Third, install any battery or taskbar skin with 100 icons for the battery (windows stock battery icons are just four... they will obviously not display %s)

Apart from the driver, one hundred icons (one for each reading) inside phcanOverbmp.dll are required to display one percent increments

Some taskbar skins - as the X series SEX1cons - have 20 battery icons, one for each 5% increment, but most of them do have 100 icons from 1% to 100% to be displayed

Clear now ??
