Over at the following thread: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=23878400&postcount=1 a user reports getting the Qualcomm mass storage after changing firmware. So it looks like the version of the bootloader is dependent on the firmware/rom and not on the hardware revision.

Also note that in that same thread another user got the same Qualcomm mass storage device after changing firmware. He confirmed the format dialog so it looks like now he has a broken bootloader. I think that might be the reason why Nokia released another version of their bootloader...

yea..cant downgrade beyond a low firmware that the bootloader supports i guess..

now he has to update to 12070.

i guess i am stuck with 12070 and HW rev 2.4

Hi,

I'm on a Lumia
OS 7.10.8107.79
FW 1600.2483.8106.11500
HW Rev. 112.1402.2.3
Funksoftw ver: 1.6.00.24
Funkhardw ver:8255
Bootloader: 7.35.0.0
Chip-SOC-Ver 0.74.2.1

and it works on my Win7 x64 Pro as Qualcomm USB Massstorage as described by original poster.
For all of you who are unable to get it working: Have you tried to remove all unknown and nonpresent devices from devicemanager of your windows-pc? Often an old entry of a nonpresent device prevents the normal behaviour also in other situations, where a device is not recognized correctly. To check that, you can look here support.microsoft.com/kb/241257 on howto show nonpresent devices.

Regards

Donpromillo

Definitely nothing to do with my computer.

I've tried 4 different laptops with various configurations. It always resuts in Nokia DLoad with the boot to WP7 following.
The people who have this working don't get the WP7 boot after disk mode which suggests that the bootloader of the phone is acting differently.

So it's entirely down to the bootloader the user has and nothing else as far as I can see.
Although, even with the same bootloader version two users are getting different outcomes so perhaps it also depends on the region of the firmware?
I'm out of ideas :D

By the way:
Diagnostics App Version: 1.9.4.0
Firmware Revision: ...12070 (I updated just now)
Radio HW Revision: 8255
OEM Device Name: RM-801 SE 615
Device HW Revision: 112.1402.2.3

Note: I have one of the first retail units. It was sent to me by Nokia before the public release.

Im not sure if this will help but;

The Nokia 800 uses a NAND lumia eMMC
The capacitive touch digitizer is an ATMEL mXT224
The controller is a Broadcom WiFi BRCM4329

What we currently need is info on how to initialize the screen and power it on from within a custom bootloader. More specifically, we need the right addresses for the screen and the framebuffer. Any developers that have experience in modifying the LK bootloader?

Sent from my Lumia 710 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

I just realised something. Which hardware Lumia 800 are you guys using? Also, which method did you use to update?

RM-801 (900MHz)
or
RM-819 (850MHz)

AND

Zune update
or
NCC/FiRE update

I have a RM-801 with Zune update and not working.

I have a RM-801 EU 222, HW revision 112.1402.2.3, updated to 12070 through zune, and it shows up as a removable disk.

RM 801 with HW 112.1402.2.3 and updates via Zune only. Currently this phone is on the 12070 firmware. I sent it to a Care Point once, maybe they did something there....

OK guys, I think I found the issue.

If you have *EVER* flashed (without zune) 11501 or 12070, you will not be able to do this.

These two firmwares include a new file (not seen in earlier firmwares) called prod_generic_nokia_osbl.esco. That is the bootloader right?

I flashed 11501 using Nokia Care Suite. Hence, I have the new Nokia DLOAD bootloader.

Note: It's a 935KB file. Someone posted the new 'locked' file vs their dumped 'unlocked' file earlier and showed that unfortunately it requires a signature.

Note: Some RM-819 firmwares didn't include the new bootloader. It's only if you flashed that file!

You have a mirror of all the stuff on mediafire on xdafil.es: http://xdafil.es
    Thank you mousey_!

PLEASE DO A FULL BACKUP OF THE NAND BEFORE PLAYING AROUND.
If you are developing fixes for the bootloader 'problem', feel free to grab a copy of the rest of partitions and stuff I posted over this thread here: http://www.mediafire.com/?kknt4lnc3tn7w

    INSTRUCTIONS:
Requires an unlocked bootloader (a.k.a. qualcomm development bootloader).
Easy to check: Turn the phone OFF, then press and hold VOLUME UP + POWER until you notice a short vibration. Plug in to the computer. If the phone turns up in disk mode (USB Mass Storage Device), then you have an unlocked bootloader. IF you're in Windows, it will ask if you want to format the disk. SAY NO OR IT WILL EXPLODE (it won't explode but you might break it)
If the device detected by the computer is Nokia DLOAD you have a locked bootloader and you're out of luck, at least for now.

I used 'dd' in Linux, I guess you can do it with Windows version too (http://www.chrysocome.net/dd) but it's more involved to find the appropiate partition:
    dd if=./os-new.nb of=/dev/sdX9
Where X is the disk detected by your linux distribution.
After that, you'll need to hard reset the phone. Hold Power button for 10 seconds to exit Qualcomm's disk mode, and press and hold POWER+VOLUMEDOWN+CAMERA until you feel the phone vibrate. After that, RELEASE power button but KEEP HOLDING volume down + camera for five or more seconds. This will trigger the hard reset.

Now time to play with bootloaders and try to get this to work for everyone!

If you like my work and want to donate for a beer (or two), follow this link

I'd suggest renaming on of the colors. Would be great if it was possible to interop the phone without losing data.

Well, you can always make a backup and then restore via zune. The thing is the dumped OS is about 600Mb, the generated image is 378Mb. I don't know how it will reside on the flash, you could always check where the flash starts to get filled with zeros and clean it up before the first boot... If they had done it right and separated user data from the main OS we wouldn't have this problem...

    INTEROP UNLOCK ACHIEVED!

Now time for a nice beeer ;)
I'll put mediafire to work and upload the image I just did. Everyone who has an unlocked bootloader: after you flash this to the phone, DO A HARD RESET, otherwise it will get stucked on 'Installing Applications'

    Hey everyone,

I was hoping to be able to crack Nokia's osbl, but time already run out and wasn't able to get it. So sorry, guys, but I had to return both Lumias. It's been a fun month, and at least I helped getting custom roms for at least some of you.

I'll be uploading here all the files I have on my computer so anyone can mirror them or use them for whatever you might need. If I can help you with something else (development related please) feel free to drop me a PM.

Once again big thank you to Ultrashot, Beidl, Xsacha, cdbase, ceesheim, HeathCliff & everyone that helped out with this. Now back to my (almost) forgotten Galaxy S2 & to try Boot 2 Gecko and see what progress has been done since the last time I checked :)

Btw, here is my DppImplant app.
Implants DPP partition with your stock Live Id to a custom rom.
    Usage:
    1) Put backup of the biggest partition to the folder with DppImplant.exe and call it "stock.nb"
    2) Put "os-new.nb" there - target firmware in which you want to see your old Live Id.
    3) Open DppImplant.exe. It will extract DPP from stock.nb and create mydpp.bin file. (After that you won't really need to have stock.nb in that folder).
    "os-new.nb" will be patched.
    4) Done.

P.S. if you open DPP using Notepad or any hex editor, you'll see saved Live Id.

    Ok L710 fully unlocked :)
Those 2 parts are wrong. I used to narod.ru
