You didn't flash the "insecure" kernel, did you ?
This is absolutely needed to get your phone Rooted using the Toolkit via ADB.
Also most other things from the TK need an "insecure"kernel.

Pick the build that is the closest to your current build (and flash it using TK (it will fire up ODIN).

After this, you can root your phone, not the other way around !!

Thanks for that, yes I had tried to flash all of the options in turn but no luck - all working now, downloaded yet again & it all worked this time, can't believe I had two corrupted downloads but can't think what else it was, followed the same steps as previously & it worked. Well, after I'd found out that I need Busybox for Easy UMS so had to do it all again & pick another option!! ;)

updated build needed for XXEMB1

I had to update my galaxy S3 through kies to get rid of the freezing issue with ELLA
So far it is not freezing at all but I lost my root access. When I went back to the toolkit I found that XXEMB1 is not included in the international options - its such a great tool that I hope it will soon be updated for this version. I was jus t beginning to find my way around my rooted device

I had the same problem too, after root with Unified toolkit, no matter which custom rom I flashed,
when under heavy usage, the device just freeze. I've done wiping everything, include reformat and repartioned my sd card.
be it SD card was inserted or not inserted. it still gone freezed.

Im using a international S3.

Make sure you update SuperSu to the latest version. (=v1.10)
The version included in the toolkit (v1.04) might cause issues.

I guess my problem was the eMMc brick bug problem, which has nothing to do with this toolkit.

Anyone has the solution to get rid of the eMMc thing?

Why do you think you have the "EMMC brick thing" as you call it ?
What phone do you have ? A GT-I9300 I believe; the same model as I''ve.. right ?

I'm relative sure you don't have that ugly EMMC brick thing ! :p

First tell me what you're trying to accomplish and describe your problem as good as you can, including messages/errors ....
Maybe I can help...

Cause all the symptoms my phone giving is exactly same like what others describe in other post.
the phone just SDS for like 5-30 minutes, screen ON, no battery state recorded.

Attached with the screen shot of my current my phone spec. Currently running on CM10.1 and Siyah Kernel which Siyah claims they fixed the eMMc/SDS problem, but my phone it seems not.

I've also tested eMMc memory check, it passed. dump file test passed too.

Im so unhappy with my current phone, I'm so ****ed up using my phone for every 10 minutes then I had to do a power button 8 secs reset.

Really wish that you could help me asap.

Edited: I had also attached the LogCat and Bugs Report in case you needed.

P/S: I got freezed another time while generating the log cat. Gosh.

Thanks, I'll check these.
First you have to be sure the problem is HW or SW.
For this, you should do a complete reset (first in CWM wipe/format data/cache/dalvick/system) and then restore a stable stock (ELLA/EMAx/EMBx will do) followed by a factory reset.
After you're done wiping/formatting in CWm, don't let the phone try to boot, but go directly in downoad mode to flash the stock FW.

if the "freeze"problem is gone, it was likely corrupted data somewhere, if not, it might be a HW problem.

Can you still make a CWM/TWRRP backup from your current setup ? (move all backups to your external SD and PC, as the internal will be wiped)
i hope you have Titanium Backup for all apps and games.

Re: [SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 UNIFIED TOOLKIT V7.0] Drivers, Backup, Root, Recovery + MORE [

The backup is not a concern cause most of stuff is on the cloud. Haha

I've tried flash back to XELLA stock Rom. Both rooted and non rooted. It still freezing randomly.

I've read through xda there's a thread saying that flashing the pit file would solve the problem. I'm crossed finger on that. Cause flashing pit file is dangerous that could anytime bricked my phone totally.

Haven't try on other stock Roms. Will try it soon.

I want to root

Hi friends,
I have the GT-I9300 with compilation jz054k.i9300ubema1
I want to do the root but I do not know what version to choose EMA2 to GT-I9300 or EMA1 to GT-I9300, and if someone have the same compilation.
I have the Toolkit with donation.

What do I have to do before root? What to backup? Can I backup my stock rom?

Thanks in advance:good:

The SuperSu from the Toolkit is still v1.04 and this version has some issues.
Try flashing the "UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.10.zip" from the SuperSu thread at http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1538053.
It will update Supersu to v1.10 and might solve your problem, unless there is something else specific needed for Jelly 4.2.1.
I just went through the script and I'm relative sure it should work for 4.2.1 too.

Did you wipe/format everything as i said, including your internal SD by doing a "reset to factory" AFTER flashing the ELLA ?
You did a flash to ELLA using Odin, did you ?? Because installing some none-wipe ROM using recovery will not help you !! Use PC-odin !
This is important as there can be corrupted files on your SD that cause the lock-ups.

In case you still get freezes after doing this, try to unmount and remove your ext. SD card.
Corrupted/bad files or even a bad card might also give such strange freezes & lockups.

Just test the bare phone to exclude as many other possible causes as you can.

PS: Forgot to ask before, but can you still see your IMEI (*#06#) ? Are your wifi and network still OK ?

Only the last 4 characters from "jz054k.i9300ubema1" are important to choose the proper kernel : this means EMA1 is the one to pick in your case.
The first thing you need to do is flashing this EMA1 "insecure kernel" : after this you can root your phone (choose the all in one to have root + busybox + ..)

Once you have installed the custom Recovery (CWM or TWRP), you can make backups from your phone.
See my sig. for what i use to make backups : some do a complete backup (Philz CWM) other backup all apps + settings (Titanium Backup)

Of course you can always change the tools to backup as long as the these are compatible.

Yes. I did wipe everything before flashing new rom. Data. Cache. Dalvik too.

I did totally take out the external sd card in the whole process. But it still freezing. I've tested format the external sd too. But still freezing.

Yes. I flash my phone through PC odin which bundled with unified toolkit.

I just flashed the EMB1 rom for UK. (unrooted so far)

And the result is working just perfectly good !! I'm currently downloading back all my apps, and keep pushing my phone to the limit, see whether the problem will it still be there.

Wow, great.

Now after EFS restore after backup my phone is dead - there is only Samsung GALAXY S III GT-I9300 LOGO.

How to reformat EFS partition in the phone in order it can create in by itself?

in CWM when I try to mount /efs it says: Error mounting /efs!

SUPPORTED DEVICES AND LATEST SUPPORTED BUILDS *HERE*

DOWNLOAD THE SKIPSOFT UNIFIED ANDROID TOOLKIT *HERE* (FROM SKIPSOFT.NET)

NOTE: As the exe files are not Digitally Signed with a Microsoft Certificate they 'may' get picked up as potentially harmful by Antivirus Programs and deleted on first run. If this happens restore the file and exclude it from future scans to use it. This seems to happen mostly on AVG Free and Norton which is why I switched to BitDefender which is much better.

Credits: Chainfire for SuperSU, koush and the clockworkmod team for cwm and the universal driver pack, 1wayjonny for the adb/fastboot driver pack, Adam Lange for all his support and help with the insecure kernels.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUBLIC (FREE) AND PROFESSIONAL (DONATE) VERSIONS?
THE PUBLIC VERSION OF THE TOOLKIT INCLUDES EVERYTHING YOU COULD NEED TO MANIPULATE YOUR DEVICE. NOTHING IS RESTRICTED.

ACTIVATING THE PROFESSIONAL VERSION ADDS THE MOST USEFUL FUNCTION IN THE TOOLKIT, THE ABILITY TO CHECK FOR 'AUTO UPDATES' DIRECTLY VIA THE TOOLKIT AND HAVE THEM PUSHED TO YOUR PC RIGHT AWAY AS SOON AS THEY ARE UPLOADED WITHOUT NEEDING TO DOWNLOAD THE WHOLE TOOLKIT EVERY TIME. YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE LATEST VERSION AS SOON AS IT IS MADE AVAILABLE. THIS MEANS SMALLER UPDATES CAN BE SENT OUT MORE FREQUENTLY, SUCH AS ADDING A SINGLE FUNCTION, FIXING A BUG OR ADDING COMPATIBILITY FOR A SINGLE CARRIER. THE SMALLER UPDATES WILL BE COMPILED AND RELEASED TO THE XDA COMMUNITY AS A FULL (PUBLIC) DOWNLOAD VERSION SO PROFESSIONAL VERSIONS ARE ALWAYS UPDATED SOONER.
THE PRO VERSION ALSO ADDS THE ABILITY TO CHECK FOR THE LATEST VERSION OF SUPERUSER AND RECOVERY FILES AND DOWNLOAD THEM DIRECTLY TO THE TOOLKIT.
THE 'QUICK PICKS' SECTION[/B] ALLOWS YOU TO PROGRAM UPTO 10 SLOTS WITH TASKS THAT YOU MAY PERFORM ON A REGULAR BASIS OR JUST WANT TO KEEP A SET OF TASKS IN 1 PLACE. THEN JUST SELECT THE SLOT AND IT WILL REMEMBER ALL YOUR SETTINGS FOR THAT TASK AND RUN IT.
PRO USERS CAN ALSO SELECT THE "ANY BUILD" OPTION IN THE BUILD SELECTION SCREEN TO ROOT ANY BUILD (USEFUL IF YOUR BUILD IS NOT LISTED).

AUTO REPLY LINKS FOR PAYPAL TO GET A CODE INSTANTLY CAN BE FOUND AT http://goo.gl/nyGqv

    --------------------------------------------------------------

PLEASE READ THE *HELP* PAGE AT http://www.skipsoft.net/?page_id=1269 OR USE THE INFORMATION SECTION WITHIN THE TOOLKIT IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. I HAVE TAKEN A LOT OF TIME TO WRITE IT AND SOMETHING ON THERE SHOULD ANSWER 99% OF PROBLEMS.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    1. INSTALLING ADB/FASTBOOT DRIVERS

The first thing you need to do is to install the adb/fastboot drivers. These are needed so that you can unlock your bootloader, root your device and perform other adb/fastboot functions.

THE DRIVERS CAN BE INSTALLED DIRECTLY VIA THE TOOLKIT. OPTION 1 IN THE MAIN MENU.

If drivers are not installed or there is an exclamation mark next to the device:
Plug the device in to a usb cable directly connected to your motherboard.
In the Device Manager a new item, usually called Android 1.0 should pop up in the list.
Right click on the device item then left click on Update Driver Software. Select 'browse my computer' and then 'Let me pick from a list'.
If no adb interface driver appears in the list then untick 'Show compatible hardware' and find the Android or Samsung adb interface driver.
If you cannot find either of these click Have Disk, browse to the Toolkit install folder, drivers folder, click on android_winusb.inf and click Open.
Click OK and select Google ADB Interface.

Make sure you have USB debugging enabled in settings, developer options. In Android 4.2.2 or later you have to enable the developer options screen by going to settings, About on your device and click on Build number at the bottom 7 times until it says You are now a developer. If you have already enabled usb debugging then unplug/replug the usb cable.

On Android 4.2.2 or later when you replug the usb cable after enabling usb debugging for the first time you will get a popup asking you to authenticate your pc. Tick 'Always allow' then click 'ok'.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    2. USING SKIPSOFT UNIFIED ANDROID TOOLKIT

When starting the Toolkit you will first be asked which device you want to work with. Working folders will be created and the device files downloaded. You will then be taken to the Model/Build selection screen where you can do a number of things (other than select your model/build): Type '00' to enter your activation code and enable pro features, 'i' will take you to the Information and Help Section, 'a' will give you information on how to add support for a new build.

Supported builds are listed in the Model/Build selection screen and typing the associated number (i.e. 11) will download needed boot and recovery files (stock and custom recovery) then check for and download the latest superuser files available and custom recovery (pro versions only), verify all the files and start the Main Menu. You can now use all the functions and tools the Android Toolkit offers. Pro users can select the "any build" option to root any build (useful if your build is not listed).

    --------------------------------------------------------------

    USEFUL INFORMATION

How to get into Recovery Mode
    1. Unplug the USB cable.
    2. Shut down the phone.
    3. Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME UP' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 5 seconds to enter Recovery Mode.

How to get into Download Mode (For Odin)
    1. Unplug the USB cable.
    2. Shut down the phone.
    3. Hold down the 'HOME' + 'VOLUME DOWN' buttons and press the 'POWER' button for about 2 seconds until a WARNING! Screen appears. Press the 'VOLUME UP' button to enter Download Mode.
