Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2012!
My country - the birthplace of the GLONASS. I speak English badly. Yesterday I compared the two navigation devices: GLONASS/GPS Samsung Galaxy Note on BCM47511 chip and BT GPS Navitel RX200BT on SirfStar III chip. Tracks were recorded synchronously in NMEA format. I drove the route in the morning and evening.
Legend:
Blue - Samsung Galaxy Note
Red - Navitel RX200BT
On the morning Samsung is less accurate (10 meters shift from GPS track):

When RX200BT took 12 GPS satellites, Note, not more than 10.
After analysing logs I concluded: Note have 18 channels - 10 for GPS and 8 for GLONASS.
In the evening i take best result for GLONASS:
YOUTUBE: Samsung Galaxy Note (Blue) vs Navitel RX200BT (Red)
Too different results.
Result of GPS/GLONASS Galaxy Note is badly: 19 meters

Only GPS is very good (8 meters):

Why GLONASS/GPS less accuracy, but only GPS system is best?

I don't know if it is GLONASS or anything, in my country (Bangladesh) any gps did not work at all, before the Note. My SGS/SGS 2 could not get my location at all without network location enabled. But my note does that within a second or two even without network location enabled.

This is very surprising, but seems to confirm what I am experiencing with the Note 2 - My wife has a Motorola RAZR HD which apparently uses only GPS (it sees less satellites) and tests indicate less drift than with the Note 2.

Is there a way to DISABLE Glonass or GPS for better acccuracy? In other words, HOW did you manage to force your app to only use GPS?
