I tried to install Ubuntu Touch today on my Nexus 4 (mako)
Downloaded the 5 files, installed the CWM based recovery, wiped data and cache, even performed the factory reset.
Then I pushed both the zip files via adb as autoupdate.zip, each time rebooting.
Nothing I got a black screen.
Then I wiped again and pushed both files via adb, this time however I installed them manually each time rebooting back into the recovery.
Still nothing I tried installing UT about 5 times.
Seems to me like it's hit and miss with Ubuntu Touch, too bad I was really looking forward to trying it out.

Can you access the device using dba? If so, can you access the Ubuntu shell using "dba shell"?

You might find that Ubuntu has installed and is running, but isn't displaying on your device. This is the case for me.

Look in this thread: http://xdaforums.com/nexus-4/general/rom-ubuntu-touch-14-04-trusty-tahr-t2324683/page121

This is your answer:
Re-flashed so I could reconfirm and all you have to do once the device is fully booted is "adb shell" and then type "touch /home/phablet/.display-mir" and "reboot" then the display will start working again.

Go thank narume in that thread if that works ;)

Hmmm, didn't work for me :( What version/date of Ubuntu image did you flash?
