Disclaimer: Use your own discretion. I am not responsible if you break your phone. Feel free to suggest more and I will add them to the list after I test it!

I have tested the following settings for 5 days with no adverse effects to Active Notifications, Touchless Controls, Google now and the standard phone features like calls and sms. If you encounter any issues please try to identify which service is causing it and I will modify the description of said service to reflect that. My battery life is still pretty good as shown all the way below so no issues there either.

Legend:
Lime = No issues or known side effects, tested stable
Sea Green = Caution, some side effects [which I list for each] but no impact on stability
Red = Breaks functionality for certain phone features [which I list for each] I don't recommend freezing these
Orange = Just Google apps

I personally don't use Motorola Connect (I have in the past) so if the above config gives you any trouble with Motorola software aside from Active Notifications and/or touchless controls please help me troubleshoot and let me know which service is giving the issue so that I can correct this list.

To show that there's no conflicts as a result of freezing said apps and services, I posted my battery life life with said config which I consider to be decent (stock 4.4.2 ROM, stock Kernel, TWRP and Root, Bootloader unlocked and some things hibernated with Greenify:

You probably don't notice micro lags and/or stutter like most android users. Given, stock config on Moto X is still very smooth, but not perfect. Besides why would anyone want a whole bunch of crap they will never use taking up resources?

That's okay, I'm not selling anything ^_^ just reporting my experiences with freezing crap that I have zero use for.
But, ask yourself: if all that crapware was not detrimental in any way shape or form how do you explain that the snappiest ROM's out there are extremely debloated and quite minimal? i.e SlimROM, AOKP, CM10 etc. Food for thought.

Also, do you mind removing the quote? It makes it annoying to scroll through the whole thing, twice.

I was trying to get my avatar to show up on hangouts and initially thought it didnt show because I disabled avatar. But I ended up going to People and adding myself with my avatar and that fixed it. Disabling avatar shouldn't impact that, feel free to disable it. I'm actually not sure what it does, but it never caused any issues.

As for backup, I just forgot to add it to the list. I'll update it shortly (at work atm).

I looked around but couldn't find anything... has anyone put together a debloat list of files? I don't mean to freeze, but to actually delete? I'd like to fully debloat the crap I don't want, but would like to know which files I can't touch.

Where does TitBk look for the licence since the Moto X doesn't have an SD card. I got it to accept my licence once but then I need to unroot because of OTA troubles. Try to stop it and make sure it doesn't happen again.

You just put the license in the root of your internal storage.

I keep getting a read only system file error. I know I'm rooted so I don't know what else could be stopping be unless I'm trying the wrong location.

I also made sure to boot into recovery to be able to have write access before I started all this.

press volume up to boot into recovery after you highlight it. that is probably your problem as it is almost always everyones problem when they say they are positive they are in recovery mode with write protect disabled.

run command

adb shell getprop ro.boot.write_protect

if it returns 0 you are in recovery. If it returns 1 you are not. This information is all located on the original thread in the OP where you found pwnmymoto.

also you can just run adb reboot recovery and that will definitely put you into recovery.

I have confirmed with the code you have given me above that I am do have write permission but I still get a read only when trying to transfer the licence into the main directory of my phone.

I've tried with both Astro File manager and ES File manager. Is it possible these apps need root access in order to move the file? Su hasn't asked me for root for either of those apps if that is the case.

I'm open to ideas of what could be going on at this point since I have no clue.

if you are trying to move a file to the system then you need to grant es file explorer SU permissions. go to the left in es file explorer (this is where the settings are) and goot to rot explorer and turn it on. once you have done that you will need to click on root explorer to get to the option menu where you can click system as r/w. If that didn't make sense just look up some better instructions on how to do this.

So adb has confirmed I'm in recovery and SU is telling me es file manager has root. ES File Manager has root explore enabled but I'm still getting a Permission denied ( black box pop up) on the screen.

What else could be going on here? Is there maybe a better way to do this using adb?

Once again you've been amazing with the assistance you've been providing for me.

in es file explorer you still have to enable r/w protections for the /system. click on root explorer in the app. then a screen will pop up. click the title Mount r/w. then next to /system click on RW instead of RO and click ok. Now you will have the ability to do what you want.

    I have tested the following settings for 5 days with no adverse effects to Active Notifications, Touchless Controls, Google now and the standard phone features like calls and sms. If you encounter any issues please try to identify which service is causing it and I will modify the description of said service to reflect that. My battery life is still pretty good as shown all the way below so no issues there either.

    Legend:
    Lime = No issues or known side effects, tested stable
    Sea Green = Caution, some side effects [which I list for each] but no impact on stability

I personally don't use Motorola Connect (I have in the past) so if the above config gives you any trouble with Motorola software aside from Active Notifications and/or touchless controls please help me troubleshoot and let me know which service is giving the issue so that I can correct this list.

    To show that there's no conflicts as a result of freezing said apps and services, I posted my battery life life with said config which I consider to be decent (stock 4.4.2 ROM, stock Kernel, TWRP and Root, Bootloader unlocked and some things hibernated with Greenify:

    That's okay, I'm not selling anything ^_^ just reporting my experiences with freezing crap that I have zero use for.
    But, ask yourself: if all that crapware was not detrimental in any way shape or form how do you explain that the snappiest ROM's out there are extremely debloated and quite minimal? i.e SlimROM, AOKP, CM10 etc. Food for thought.

    Also, do you mind removing the quote? It makes it annoying to scroll through the whole thing, twice.

    My two cents: before playing this delete-apps, make a TiBu zip file of the apps that you wanna delete. If things go wrong, just install that zip through recovery.

    Hi guys sorry for the absence. I ended up switching back to my iphone 5 for a few months as a few friends were working on Jailbreak tweaks and I was helping them test betas/experimental builds etc. I am now back fulltime on the Moto X.

    I'm back to square one in 4.4.2. Seems things have changed a bit. Have about 26 services frozen atm gonna use it for a few days and report back.

    If anyone has an updated list they tested I'd be glad to add it to the OP for the time being.

    Preliminary findings
    The following services should not be disabled if you use active notifications (my fav feature of Moto X):
    Motorola Slpc Service: 1.00.02
    Motorola Slpc System: 1.00.00

    The latest 6 or so motorola related services I disabled recently have made increased the responsiveness of active notifications. Ex. take the phone out of your pocket and the unlock ring shows, the time it takes fromwhen you drag the ring down to unlock to seeing the homescreen seems faster now. Pretty sure it's not placebo effect.

    I will post a list tomorrow night as I want to make sure the freeze list does not break any core functionality. So far Active Notifications and Touchless controls seems to work flawlessly.
