Are there any solutions to deal with PERFECTED SPL 1.76.0009?

Basically it says you have to flash the rom first (i wonder how one can do that with the perfected SPL and no SU in the first place)

then you have to install the 1.6.2 recovery image and engineering SPL and that's it.

I'm willing to try this **** but it seems like his ftp is down or he's no longer hosting that rom.

Just use RUU normal way.
After that turn on phone and install recovery using adb shell: flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img

THIS METHOD WILL DELETE ALL DATA ON YOUR PHONE! Proceed at your own risk!

1. Download RUU linked above.
2. Install update using RUU.
3. Turn on phone and connect to computer.
4. Get RA recovery and SPL also linked above and drop them to sdcard root directory.
5. Run SDK: adb shell
6. Install recovery: flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
6. Turn off phone and turn on again holding Power+Home. RA Recovery should appear.
7. Flash zip from sdcard.
8. Use file: update-hboot-1762007-signed
9. Done. PSPL broken.
10. Build a shrine for orange_24

It works!! Now my Magic is rooted again after 3 months.

Mine had the original 3.05 HTC ROM, will this root with Rogers' version?

had 1.76.0008 Australian version. Updated via goldcard ....finally I can install new roms! Thanks heaps!!!

One question though I had s-on and now I still have s-on. How could i change this to s-off and do I need too?

Yes; just made a goldcard from a Duracell MicroSD and worked great so far. The HBOOT method is what I used and it updated my phone. Just need to flash the recovery and SPL and I'll be good to go.

Hi, great news i have official htc sense rom with spl 1.76.0009 s-on and radio 6.35.08.28.

When i run the ruu my magic enters in ruu usb but i get: error[171]: usb connection error.

Can anyone help?

If you do not have HTC sync installed, install it and in case if you do then try reinstalling it. It worked for me.

This appears to be working as advertised howver i have an issue. after typing flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img nothing happens... No errors, no confirmations, nothing. Any ideas? I'm not a noob, the recovery img file is there on my SDCARD.

There are no confirmations. If you wish to check whether the recovery has been installed or not then try booting the device to recovery by holding down home+power buttons. If you see text at the botton saying the name of recovery then you have a custom recovery image.
