Decided to start a list of wired headsets that have working in-line buttons / microphones for Windows Phones. Current material is scattered and mostly found in device-specific forums. I hope I am right to assume that all Windows Phones comply to the same standards, though I do know that the HD7 at least does not support forward/backward controls. As a safeguard, I've included "Device" to indicate what phone the headset was tested on.

A lot of the posts I found around the forums are too general and not relating to specific models. I need specifics for this list to work. Please object if a listing is incorrect, or add confirmation if a headset works with your device too. If you are personally testing, be sure to push the jack ALL the way in.

The Focus default headsets

I have purchased like 4 off Amazon only one of the vendors sells the 3 button version, everyone else keeps sending the volume only headset. I think the 3 button headset sounds better.

How about functions like skip track, activate Tellme etc?
I'm including skip, pause and backtrack under the "Answer/End" button. AFAIK there are no buds which support one without the other, but I will separate them if I encounter one.

Thanks, could I ask what device you tried these buds on?

Its working good with my htc trophy and it displays the mp3tags the button are all funktional
This thread was supposed to be for wired headsets, as Bluetooth ones generally don't suffer from the compatibility issues of the former. However, I'll add Bluetooth headsets to the third post for now.

Thanks a bunch, hope I got the details right!

Will be looking at purchasing the Klipsch S2ms so I can confirm if they work or not. From what I see, they probably will since they are not an iPhone-specific model.

EDIT: went with a standard set of earbuds.

Hmm... just read around and it seems Samsung devices might need an adapter for compatibility with most controls.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good headset (with a mic) for my Verizon Trophy running rtm mango. I really need something with decent quality (with bar with Klipsch image S4I)
And, does anyone has any idea how good is the BOSE MIE2I?
Thanks

Registered just to reply.

I had the same issue, so I called Samsung and and had them get me the correct part number: EHS60AVNBE

After several RMAs, I was finally able to get the correct headphones.
