Oh that will be too lengthy a process. Never mind I will try once more. Thanks for your valuable advice.
Sorry again for your troubles :(
I really don't know what is going on there, as it seems to work fine for most people.

i cant seem to find root whitelist in /system/etc/dsc.su_list, how do i grant root ?

Root will be granted by default to any app. I used the insecure version of it, not the one where you can actually whitelist apps.

Are you having trouble with a particular root app? If so you might want to install SuperSU from the market and update the SU-binary. This will completely replace SimpleSU with SuperSU.

The problem could be becaused of broken zip........?? I will have to find that out.......let's see, I will revert back on this.

It just means that you did not download the full zip, maybe your download stopped before it was actually finished. Simply re-downloading usually fixes this.

Implementing the languages is not really hard. Decompile settings.apk and cmparts.apk, add the language folders from another decompiled Roms apks and most of your stuff will be in your language. The rest of the apps only contains little bits and pieces here and there.

I removed all languages from Hackers keyboard as well. My idea was, that everyone just uses this keyboard just as a start, because most people do use Swype, Swiftkey, TouchPal, etc.
If you want to use the proper Hackers keyboard, yes you would have to redownload it.

Well, I had Polish characters after fresh installation of your ROM. That's why I called its disapperance "mystery" :)
Then I reinstalled hackerskeyboard.
After couple of days, it reverted itself to English as the only input method - even though only Polish is still marked.
In fact, the characters are that of English keyboard regardless of the input language I select.
Again, reinstallation of hackerskeyboard makes it back to normal.
Not a big deal, I can reinstall HK every few days, but am just curious aboust the cause of such behaviour?

Well that is not just a mystery to you, but me as well ;)

Did you uninstall it properly, or just deleted the apk? There might be something left of the old app. SdMaid is a good tool to take care of such problems.

Finally i was able to flash the rom and its perfect....thanks to jayOOmjay and the OP of course in helping me to resolve my problem. Now how do I get rid of these annoying game ads pop ups that appear too frequently? I have tried adfree and adaway but they don't seem to help. Any help in this?

As I don't play much games, I can't give you any definitive advice. I use adfree and it works just fine for me.

I know there used to be an xposed module, which is now discontinued, called minguard (or something similar), which worked great.
Disconnecting from the internet, or restricting internet access via afwall or lbe works for some games as well.

No, I didn't uninstall the keyboard - just reinstalled it over the previous one (so the Polish was still marked as the input language after reinstallation). As the Polish characters are gone again, have just given a chance the SDMaid to uninstall the keyboard. In a few days I shall know if that makes any difference (in this case I mean :)

thanks wooaarr for this nice rom - a godsent.

question about hosts: can the system handle such a large hosts file?
doesn't it become outdated quickly? so the idea is to manually update it?
any recommends on that, is the list specialised for android phones?

is it possible to further de-googlify and minimise? i don't use the play store or any google services at all, could i just remove these:
Code:
google calendar sync
google contacts sync
google partner setup
google play services
google play store
google services framework
com.android.provision
DRM protected content sorage
pico tts
tts service
fm radio
is this rom somehow "more GPL" than cyanogenmod itself, or why did you add that to the thread title?

there's no criticism anywhere here, only appreciation! i'm just inquisitive.

bikeshed:
any themes recommendations (flat and minimal and working properly on mini/ldpi)?

edit: oh, i just noticed that you included gapps... so can i just remove everything that starts with google...?

I never had any troubles with large host files. I know that Crossbreeder used a different, dynamic method. Honestly, my approach was always "Why complicate things?". The hosts file is working perfectly and I for one, cannot find any difference in terms of speed...
I used Adfree from BigTinCan to update the hosts file.

is it possible to further de-googlify and minimise?
Of course, everything that contains a Google in it's name is safe to remove. Have a look at this.

Nah it is not. I remember a time when the moderators wanted the GPL in the thread title. I didn't want to bother with any of the license stuff, so I just included it...

No harm done mate ;)

any themes recommendations (flat and minimal and working properly on mini/ldpi)?
I always used plain CyanogenMod, so I can't really help you there, sorry.

This is english only! (You have been warned...!)
A few months back I created this ROM for my personal use.
This is plain CM 7.2, with a lot of useless stuff removed. (More about that further down). This is for everybody who does not fancy cutting edge looks, but rather looks for something that is 100% (And i mean 100%...) working, without any reboots, or fc's...

    What did you remove?
    • Unused icons from every single apk (There was a lot of hdpi and not used mdpi content)
    • Useless preferences for our device (Trackball, flashlight, you name it...). Some of it only from the UI, with others I managed to remove them completly from the .apk. Others were just too deeply integrated.
    • Unused binarys (/bin /xbin)
    • All Languages except english
    • Fallback Fonts
    • Help files & Information texts
    • Unused libraries (/lib)
    • Ringtones / Alarms / Notifications (Doesn't everybody use their own anyway?)
    • All TTS files except english
    • Stupid things from build.prop
    • APK's: AndroidTerm ; CMStats ; CMUpdateNotify ; CMWallpapers ; Development ; DSPManager ; Email ; HTMLViewer ; Livewallpapers ; LivewallpapersPicker ; MagicSmokeWallpapers ; Pacman ; Protips ; QuickSearchBox ; RomManager ; SamsungServiceMode ; SoundRecorder ; VisualizationWallpapers ; VoiceDialer
    What did you change/include?
    What Apps did you mod?
    • Browser: Cleaned up menu
    • Camera: Cleaned up the settings
    • CMParts: Cleaned up most settings, removed useless options
    • Contacts: Removed useless options
    • Deskclock: Resized
    • FM: Enable radio without headset (reception might be bad)
    • Deskclock: Resized / Removed options
    • Phone: Removed useless options
    • Settings: Removed useless options
    • SpareParts: Removed useless options / Integrated into CMParts
    • All Apk's have shorter texts / Info fields removed (E.g. Perfomance/Accessibility nag windows) / Blank help pictures / ...
Every single apk and jar file has been decompiled and stripped of all the useless things I could find. Also everything is recompiled using OptiPng and of course Zipalign.
    What about the kernel?!
    • Mr Android - Thank you very much Dany547 - Ramdisk changed by me
    • Readahead values reworked to 4kb on /data /system /cache & 64kb on sdcard
    • Changed TCP buffers to stock values
    • Changed OnDemand up_threshold to stock value
    • Changed minfree values to stock
    • Removed Bootsplash
    • Clean up of obsolete entries
What is there to bear in mind?
    • One bug is left (Present in each and every single CM 7.2): Turning off WiFi-Tethering via notification panel might sometimes not actually turn it off. Go to Settings/Wireless&Networks/Tethering & portable Hotspot/Portable WiFi hotspot settings and turn it off from there.
    • Do not apply any pathetic build.prop tweaks... If they are so good, why didn't your manufacture include them? (They are not stupid...)
    • Do not apply any of those awesome MakeMyDeviceFly.zip's

    Flashing Procedure:
    • Wipe data/factory reset
    • Flash Rom
    • Reboot to system
    • If Home button does not work, reboot again

    Thanks to all these guys
This Rom is based on CyanogenMod-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-tass, which is the last build of CM 7.2 for our device.

    What can you change?

    Flashable addons requested by users
    Still not happy?

Your Rom sucks! It is bloated!
    • If you still want to remove more, go ahead, you can savely remove all these apps. (For a fully functional phone you would need alternatives for some)

    • Calender.apk (Removes the stock Calender app)
    • CalenderProvider.apk (Stops all calenders from working & gives a FC in settings/CyanogenMod settings/Lockscreen/Widget options)

    • Camera.apk (Removes the stock camera app)
    • CMScreenshot.apk (Removes the ability to take Screenshots)

is there flashable zip or some other way to install dsp manager ? otherwise i love this rom :)

Here is a stripped version of the standard DSP Manager. I personally prefer Viper4Android, but of course that is totally up to you.

Bear in mind, that this is not odexed, so you would have to run

    Code:
    su
    dexo -all

in an terminal emulator, in case you want an odexed version.
    2
    this one i suppose.
    i will check it out.
i think the best (least resource-hungry) would be to update the hosts file only manually. those ad-spammers are inventing new domains all the time, but there's no need to run a daemon for that.
    thanks.
took me a while to realise i had to install another app to remove system apps.
    now i'm happy.
btw, this list you linked, does that mean that other (default install) apps are NOT safe to remove? there was a few that still caught my eye, e.g. that drm-content thing...

You can disable the auto update function in adfree, that's what I did. This way it will not run, unless you want to update the hosts file.

Theoretically you can delete nearly every .apk in /system, but like I wrote, you will need some for a functional phone. Take systemui.apk for example. It is fine to remove, but you will lose the statusbar. But this doesn't render your phone useless.
Same is true for most of the other apps.
Deleting the drm related apk will stop you from using any drm protected content. If you don't need it, delete it :)
