I've managed to force carriage return (enter key) in messaging apps!​

PM me with other versions of MMS.apk you want me to mod! Even from other phones (stock, miui, CM9 etc..) along with the apk :D

How to install:
simply replace the original file(s) in system/app with mine (with permissions).​

Troubleshooting:​

  • After reboot the smiley button is back.
that's because you installed the app by clicking on it instead of putting it in /system/app. Do it, then reboot to apply changes.​

  • The message sends when i press enter
Go into message settings and uncheck "send on enter"​

If any other bugs are found, please post them here

But thanks to remind me to finally try and do the tweak on the Mms.apk I'm using
...which I'm sharing here btw. ;)

It's a semi-transparent MMS.apk [original apk link - Thanks to _Sparks] with this tweak added.

It is slightly slower than stock cm7 messaging app at loading, but it sure does look nicer. :)

To get the carriage return key (and transparency-see pic 1) right, you might have to go in settings and select/de-select "Transparent" one or two times.

So just rename my file to MMS.apk and follow the directives on the given link above.

LE: or simply flash the zip in cwm recovery. :cool:

Please do as you wish mec...

All I did is tweaked it very quickly so that the return key works when using the transparent background; I've left the smileys on if you switch the to white background... And that works fine for me as so..

I claim no rights of ownership or 'work' on this and all credits should go to _Sparks really.

But good if your thread makes other people enjoy the tweak and that app. :)

Hello,
I attached 2 screenshots about the problem, when I use black background, the smilies come back. Is this my bad?
