Realeased new version 2.3b. With this one you can use DooMKernel with all the advantages like O.C., large amount of governors, tweaks and so on. Unfortunately video playback doesn't work anymore, but we finally have deep sleep, with a good improvement in battery life.

Since DooMKernel has new Adreno drivers (kernel side), I'm testing system side. If results are good, I'll insert them in next build. Meanwhile if you want to try them, download from first post and flash.

P.S. Fixed also Panorama. Next build will have it working.

What bugs up/fixes with the adreno drivers in your rom?

Kind regards, Nabeel.

FYI Keiran's new kernel just released today works perfectly with this ROM,

Don't know if it's been reported but when you click the search field in Google Play, the whole phone freezes and you have to pull the battery.

cheers for the quick answer, and for fixing it so fast...

No bugs encontered so far, but I'll keep testing them for 2 or 3 days.

Thanks for the quick response :D. New rom works perfectly(other than facelock - but I havent gotten it to work on any other rom so its a given) with doomlords kernel, battery life is noticeably better and no bugs encountered so far with the drivers :). Just a suggestion if you wouldn't mind, could you provide update packages for updates i.e. only the edited files in the package are flashed. Also, the update script in the current package has a few lines at the start which try to confirm that we have a R800i,R800a or "zeus"(CM model) which must be removed before we can update or an error is recieved.
Thanks again!

Kind Regards,

Nabeel

EDIT- Youtube app is not working.

OK - I used the gapps dataed 2012-03-17, which is the same as your link. I'm going to try blowing it all away and start from scratch again, see if maybe I just got a bad install or something.

EDIT: Yep, clean install fixed it. Sorry about the false error report. Loving this ROM!!

Gamepad and touchpads are working on backstab which is a gameloft game strange. Most gameloft don't work on cm builds

This is a CM build? No wonder it works! I thought someone finally got the Sony beta working with calls and data.

EDIT: I guess I would have known that if I had read the OP a little closer!

Since this ROM is CM based does it still have the same audio issues? All the CM builds have incredibly low volume on the external speaker.

Wow. Excellent work! One thing I noticed is that the in-call proximity sensor does not seem to work. Do you think that can be fixed? Anyway, will continue testing this out. Thanks!

What exactly did you do to fix that? Step by step, please. I have reinstalled, redownloaded, re flashed, formatted and rebooted like 7 times. I am editing the script, full clearing, installing the rom and cdma fix, then rebooting recovery, installinh gapps and rebooting. I have tried both the regular with fxp kernel and b with doomkernel and his wifi fix, but I am still getting freeze on the play store search.

Thanks ahead of time!;)

I will outline step by step what I did.

1. Using fastboot, I flashed the Sony Beta first.

2. I'm using the newest kernel by KeiranFTW for ICS released on 4/18 for my boot.img

3. Rebooted and booted into recovery.

4. Wipe data, cache and dalvik.

5. Install the newest version AOKICS Beta 2.3b zipfile from sdcard (with modified updater script)

6. Install the NewAdrinoICSSony.zip

7. Install the gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip

8. Install the aokp-CDMA-fix.zip

9. Just because I'm OCD, clear data, cache and dalvik again.

10. Reboot.

Everything worked fine after that. I actually made a point to download all the necessary files from the links provided just to make sure I didn't have any corrupted files.

Good luck! :)

And you all should consider clicking thanks to the dev, he did all this with little support, for a rom that we are lucky to have :)

Sent from my Dark R800i using Tapatalk 2

Hardly anybody clicks thanks anymore, my ROM has been downloaded over 9,000 times but nowhere near that number bothers to click the little button.. can't imagine how many have downloaded Darkforest ICS!
A bit of a depressing tale for devs but hey we live with it don't we?

    Anyway, fantastic work supervenom!

It's a great ROM and is coming along very, very nicely :)

O word sorry read somewhere that ext3 was the way to go because of performance. O well I will switch that up. Wanna save this class 10 32gb sd. Thanks Dan

Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app

This is true, ext3 performs better than ext2 - but only because of journaling. In the case of flash-based storage like the microSD, it's actually bad.

"ext2 is still the filesystem of choice for flash-based storage media (such as SD cards, and USB flash drives), since its lack of a journal minimizes the number of writes, and flash devices have a limited number of write cycles."

The main reason journaling provides performance benefits is because it reduces the need to seek and can help make up for filesystem fragmentation, but both these factors are not a problem for flash storage because there is a near-zero seek time.

ext4 is the same case. It will have better performance but not so for flash-based storage. There are more features that ext3 and 4 have over 2, but they are all practically useless for Android (and embedded Linux) and will result in slightly higher memory and CPU overhead. On our device with only 512MB of RAM, keeping memory usage down is essential!

BTW, even if you have an ext3/4 filesystem, you should be able to chose "ext2" in Link2SD and it will mount it in ext2 backwards-compatibility mode. This is OK and has the same effect, there's no real need to reformat it as ext2 (unless it still doesn't work of course).

From what I know, ext3 and 4 should have journaling disabled in the kernel level (otherwise your microSD will not last). However, ext3/4 tend to be corrupted easier when journaling is turned off because it depends on it's journaling feature for recovery.

I used to use ext3 myself, but I would occassionally get FC's from e.g. games that were linked to the card. I discovered that the filesystem kept getting corrupted. Since I switched to ext2 (a long time ago), I noticed better performance (maybe because of the errors, maybe because of less overhead) and never had any filesystem problems since.

In summary - ext3/4 might provide a negligible performance boost over ext2, but probably not because it's performance benefit is designed to make up for mechanical harddisk with seeking delays - not a problem for flash storage. And only when journaling is enabled. And journaling will trash the microsd very quickly.

Also, write speed on ext2 filesystems is always faster than ext3 and 4 (sequential write - but again, since Flash storage has a near-zero seek time, random-write is nearly the same speed).

    Thank you for reading :)
