most likely the update was just sent to carriers and is distributed to Nexus One bought from Google HQ .... as for carrier upgrades - that might take few days to few months but people who bought phones off Google should have it soon

Is this true because I have a dev phone from an employee. I would be willing to go back to stock and get the link if someone can confirm

GRI05 is a prior build to GRI40 and I think Google changed the version number from 2.4 to 2.3.3 because initial leaks referenced 2.4 and the Googlers are now updating to a 2.3.3. With a further along build

The 2.4 story must be real.
If you take a closer look, it's build GRI05, which is less than GRI40 (2.3.3).
I think google intended to have Android 2.4 (Gingerbread as well), but decided to name it 2.3.3. So, the screenshot is before the rename.
That's consistent with the bunch leaked 2.4 devices we saw about a month ago, and suddenly "there was not going to be a 2.4 release".

It really is so weird watching this thread and seeing people demanding this update like their life's depending on it.:D
I mean I'd really like to see it too, cause I have a desire, but kicking and screaming doesn't really make it come earlier now, does it...

Yeah, I hear yah. Google should have probably waited a few more days to post telling folks about it. Let the first few get it as a surprise, like they did with the ChromeOS Netbooks.

I was using it as an analogy/example of propagating the files internally on google servers.
Yes, but your analogy is invalid. DNS propagation is slow due to the DNS caching done by network providers world wide. No ISP is caching the contents of Google's update directories and so there's no reason the update would take time to become available.

Just tuned in to this thread hoping for some good news but nothing. The N1 getting 2.4 sounds very interesting and maybe true. Time will tell and I hope it is sooner then later I am so tired of this waiting around for nothing more then just a few minor changes to my phone but I can not help myself from checking this website probably the 15th time today. Am I nuts??? Or is this Normal??
