Exactly two weeks ago, I purchased this black transparent battery door:
http://www.akadigi.com/clear-battery-door-case-cover-for-samsung-galaxy-s-i9000-p-739.html

It is for the Samsung Galaxy S 19000 and cost $9.

I got it as I was finding a replacement for the stock one as it had developed cracks on two sides of the battery door.

Today the package arrived and I have a mixed mind about it.

Pros -
  • It's certainly lighter
  • Because it is not as snug as stock, it vibrates louder lol
  • It looks really good
  • It's $9

Cons -
  • It's not as snug (literally half a mm too big on all sides)
  • Not as strong
  • Oil and finger prints mark easily
  • The edges are sharp, while stock is well sanded down
  • When you grip the whole phone, the back moves a bit

I think I'll probably use it for a week, then switch back to stock. We'll see :)

I attempted to buy one a way back from ebay, but the transaction was cancelled as the seller suggested that this was made for the korean sgs, and it wouldnt fit my phone because of the antenna hole on the korean sgs.

Did you noticed better network signal quality with the transparent back cover?

Does it exist only in "transparent black" color?

It also comes in a lot of other colours from a few websites - transparent orange, pink, blue, (probably more) for the same price.

I picked black because I have a lot of black things and others may look a bit tacky, also if the internals of the phone were white the colours would look amazing but as they're not there's the potential for them to be washed out.

Such a shame the fit and edges are poor as the see-through effect is really cool. Might try my luck down in the markets to see if I can find one with better QC.
