Just kicked off a new compile of b30 using hash's 3.0.21 kernel & device/driver updates. Not expecting too much at the moment, but hoping to at least boot and it will definitely get me deeper into learning android os. I'm still a noob :)

Okay so the compile from last night was successful! Posting once I verify it boots and wifi at least works. I'll also double check gtalk but im fairly certain thats fixed as well.

UPDATE:
Well....I'll have to test in a bit. My Fire needs to charge, only at 2% battery, but it wont flash. TWRP kicks me back to the main screen

Sorry!

Thanks for the update. My work around for wallpapers is using multi picture live wallpaper, a cool app that puts a wallpaper on each screen and on lock screen as well. Wish I could help debug but I'm still too new at this stuff.

Just wanted to update, b30 is booting into the 3.0.21 kernel! Static wallpaper is working with the new kernel. Wifi is not & sleep just reboots (at least on my compile). Will try another build when Hash makes some more progress.

Again: please do not bother him about this. :)

All of the official AOKP builds to date have thus far required the removal of "system/vendor/lib/hw/hwcomposer.omap.so" in order to boot:

Simply extract zip, remove file, re-zip, sign with zipsigner2.

Confirmed to work with b31

Can anyone list the things that don't work with b31 after this fix?

Until, or unless, someone figures out the proper hardware acceleration problem, the same things will be "broken" in all ICS roms for the Kindle Fire (or any device without proper HWA). My understanding is that the abovementioned file is a module that determines how to divy up various calls to the graphics processor.

It is probably best to assume that new versions of ICS roms, be they AOSP, CM9, AOKP, or KANGs thereof, will only fix small things, or add small improvements until such time as someone creates a new kernel. Now if only someone was on the verge of such a felicitous creation......my mind's eye sees someone with a handle like "Hash-something-or-other" or "So-and-so-code." Who knows?

Is there a reason why regular wallpapers will not work? I'm having that same issue with AOKP on my phone.

It appears to be a SurfaceFlinger problem, I've been messing with it trying to get it to work and I know Death2All has been working on it too, but it's a known issue. I just use Multi-Picture Live Wallpaper to set static wallpapers.

Im leaning towards not incorporating the 3.0 kernel. I'd love to get some opinions. Main reasoning due to the screen/backlight not syncing well and the wifi not working stable enough. Opinions?

You shouldn't, not as the sole version in any case, not yet at least.

A test version with the 3.0 kernel would be interesting though. Would try that myself :)

If you're having a "kernel" issue on the RAZORBACK build, then you might try the following update as of today:

04-19(.2): KERNEL.ZIP #5.2 CAN BE FOUND HERE (FLASH IN RECOVERY): http://bit.ly/HW3dZy
    md5sum: 55cd8c2c0a9ee68bc83f529c4173d3c0 (It's 11.5MB .zip file)
    - Backlight Fixed! (Thanks to icemank121 in IRC for recommending to check the Archos Gen 9 tablet's backlight driver)
    - Updated the kernel from OMAPZOOM w/ code as of yesterday.
    - BUGFIX for PVR modules
    - All new modules recreated from kernel source including WIFI
