Re: CM 10.1 for Canadian Optimus G

I'm using Feb 20 test one for over a day now without a single reboot. The only thing I did different was to not install all my apps. I always install them as a .zip generated through titanium. Not sure if that could some how be relevant.

That can be relevant yes.

Can anyone else try to make a factory reset and reinstall app install instead of restoring from tibu

worse than titanium backup restore.

I think bryanlimy was asking about installing apk in playstore, and then restoring "data only" in titanium backup.

On that note, I got reboots on every version I tried, and I only restore some apps+data (xda, reddit, betterbatterystats, es file explorer, kii) with titanium backup. I also restore messages and wifi access points. I did not restore any system apps.

I will try not restoring anything when I get a chance...

I've done a lot of testing today with the 0221 build and found the following:

I can replicate the issue with 95% reliability by turning WiFi on and just going to a couple websites to make sure it's active. I then turn WiFi off and just leave the phone so it will lock itself. Upon the screen turning off, the phone will reboot itself within about 10 to 15 seconds. The LG logo will just suddenly appear and the phone reboots. I am able to repeat this and the phone will almost always reboot. I have also tried clean installs without restoring any backups with Titanium Backup so that is not the issue. Additionally, I have wiped system and tried without any Gapps and it still happens so again those are not the problem.

One oddity is that I couldn't get the phone to crash while plugged into my PC and using ADB. Could be a deep sleep with WiFi issue? As soon as I unplugged it, I could crash it again.

I used my phone almost all day yesterday with no issues until I tried using WiFi which led me to the above discovery. If you just leave WiFi off and use the phone it seems stable enough.

I am currently discussing exactly about this with kaik541. I am pretty sure the problem is related to deep sleep. It's either when it enter deep sleep or when it exit deep sleep. It could be related to when it make the wifi sleep or wake up. i am investigating that way from now.

I can confirm turning WiFi on and off highly increases chance of reboots. I've also had reboots like described above after turning WiFi on - but sometimes it will immediately freeze and I have to force reboot.

Running the February 13 build, no unexpected reboots for over a week (at least none that I've noticed).

Re: CM 10.1 for Canadian Optimus G

Can you try turning GPS and WIFI off and tell me if there is still problems.

I had my first reboot tonight after leaving my house with WiFi left on. The next time I looked at my phone it was in a boot loop. Turned off WiFi, no issues since.

Also, I never restore system data, just app data. May try a restore and then redo backups as app only without data and see what happens.

You can restore user apps without data. No need to redo backups. It's not a restoring apps issue though. The crashes happen with a fresh install and even without Gapps.

I want to ask something. I've always flashed on top of 4.1.2 while following instructions on the first page. I never had a problem booting or crazy bugs. Is flashing from stock kdz better?

Hi, This is a continuation of the CM 10.1 nightlies thread. Things has been moving on and we are now at CM 10.2. I have been working with xboxfanj, houstonn and bbelos to bring you this. Again, this is based on mako with adapted change for optimus G. This time we are even more in sync with CAF (Code Aurora Forum).

    What is working
    Everything.

    What is not working

    You tell me.

Here are the repo needed for our devices :

    https://github.com/TeamPlaceHolder

Of course, you have to be rooted, to have bootloader unlocked and a working recovery to flash this custom rom.

DO NOT FLASH NEXUS 4 KENEL MADE BY 3rd PARTY. THIS WILL MOSTLY PERMA BRICK YOUR DEVICE.

This is simply because people tend to use partition number and not by-name and our partition is different than nexus 4 ones. i.e. The rpm partition on our phone is the boot partition on nexus 4. So flashing a custom kernel will flash a boot.img in your rpm partition and then you are bricked. You have been warned.

Like usually, i can't be hold responsible if you damage your phone during any of the process described in this thread.

    Thanks :

Thracky and houstonn who also works with me on this.

    Download

All the downloads will go here :

    ribs.bbqdroid.org

    Use geeb package

    Gapps package :

    http://goo.im/gapps

    Modem :

There is a newer modem now available (From JB update. Houstonn and I extracted each of them and made flashable so you don't need to do the painful process of kdz only to get a new baseband)

MAKE SURE TO NOT FLASH KOREAN MODEM.

How to intall that rom ?

This require you to have TWRP or CWM already installed on your device. I recommand the former. On our device, this mainly mean you have rooted your phone and unlocked the bootloader.

Apparently, it seems these instruction where not clear enough. So I'll try to make them dumbproof. If you are not following these instruction and it doesnt work, dont expect support. It's like buying a cake mix where you only need to add milk and call the company saying their product is bull****, you added water and only got a brick. To add to this metaphor, Asking if it's because you used CWM instead of twrp or reverse is like saying : Did it didnt work because i used a fork instead of a whip to mix it ?

To flash this rom, you have to be on older Bootloader. You can alternatively flash the bootloader i linked in this thread. Read the post carefully before you flash.

    1. Download file in the download section.
    2. Put the rom AND the gapps on your internal SDCard.
    3. Reboot into recovery.
    4. Flash CM rom.
    5. Flash Gapps package.
    6. DO A FACTORY RESET (EMPHASIS HERE)
    7. reboot into system

Is there ANY WAY you can add to this the changes in faux123's Nexus 4 kernel (see here http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36722-kernellinux-340-makojbuvoctuncifsv001-nov-30/#entry1032460) to reduce the horrible msm_hsic_host wakelock battery drain?

You sir, deserve a punch in the face. Come on. We are not at optimizing things. I'm still trying to figure out what is working or not. This is really stupid.

Note to all other user : I WILL NOT ACCEPT FEATURE BEFORE EVERY PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN SOLVED.

on a related note to your question, if you would have read carefully, you would have seen that i already use faux123 kernel . . .
Anyway, this is not going to be the case soon.
