Can anyone be a super help and recommend a good new radio for a Canadian Incredible S? I have been using Mike1986's suggestion 20.2808.30.085AU_3805.06.03.03_M for some time now and it still works great but it seems like some of the newer ROM's and versions or GB give me a lower signal on the taskbar. Most of the time I only have one or two bars, now I never miss calls that I know of but I use to have a full signal before.

I'm a little scared to flash the wrong radio so I was hoping someone could make a suggestion?

Thanks in advance

i'm on 06.03.16 (and cm7n) and it seems to be working great (on telus). i was using 06.03.03 without any problems though.

u can't flash the "wrong" radio. u can always switch back.

Hey thanks for the info man made me more confident to try one. I flashed 06.03.16 and it seems a lot better! Thanks again!

no problem. i was on the same boat as you until someone told me it was pretty much brick proof. just passing it on :)

edit: the new radio is not playing nice with my phone (cm7n108, tiamat v1.1.4). poor call quality. reverting back to 06.03.16.

What is the Ril?? and what does it do? Can someone explain and let me know how to install it?

read this for info on ril.

basically, it's a layer between your phone and radio. you want your ril to match your radio for optimal performance, but your phone will still work even if they don't match (at least, from what i've read).

installing ril is simple, you just replace all the corresponding files in /system/lib folder. you can backup the files if you ever want to switch back or you can just install the rom again.

again, the ril provided with the latest radio is the same one that comes shipped with most of the roms in the forum, so most likely you won't have to worry about it.

if you want to check your current ril version, go to terminal emulator and type:

su
getprop gsm.version.ril-impl

cheers

again, it's the stock ril (i.e. comes with the rom). I have the same set up as you. battery life seems fine for me, but no two phones are going to be the same. too many variables.

did u calibrate the battery?

    Code:
/* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or the end of the world. Please do some research
     * if you have any concerns about flashing a radio before flashing it!
     * YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the
     * finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you. */

    How to Flash:

In order for this to work, the HTC Incredible S needs to be S-OFF. Flashing the radio with a corrupt file or interrupting the flash, can brick the device, please proceed with caution.

    1. Download the your choice of radio for the HTC Incredible S.
    2. Make sure the filename is PG32IMG.zip exactly or it will not work and copy it to the same folder as adb (the /platform-tools folder within the Android SDK folder).
    3. Connect the HTC Incredible S to the computer via USB.
    4. On the computer, open terminal and run the following commands:
      Code:
      adb push PG32IMG.zip /sdcard/PG32IMG.zip
      adb shell md5sum /sdcard/PG32IMG.zip
NOTE: The md5 should match up the provide the original download location. If not, redownload & try again.
      Code:
      adb reboot bootloader
    5. The HTC Incredible S will reboot & usually boot into fastboot. Pressing the Power button will put the device into the bootloader.
    6. The bootloader will scan for the radio update. Once it finds the update, select Yes.
    7. Allow the bootloader to finish flashing the updated radio, and reboot the HTC Incredible S normally.

Is version 20.2810.30.085AU_3805.06.03.16 the last available radio to flash? should I have to update from 06.03.03?

Because this awesome vivo community is still alive, I decided to re-upload all vivo radio's. So you guys can even compare more. You should expect a newer Radio is a better Radio, but it's a bit more personal.
