720p playback and record for Gingerbread (Android 2.3) Roms (stock based)

1. Defy 720p record* and playback, 5 MP panorama + pananorama assistent View attachment 720p+panorama-defy.zip

DID NOT WORK WITH CM7 based roms




old versions: (fixed MB526 problem, default now MB525)

1. 720p + panorama 3 Megapixel mode View attachment 720p+panorama-for-stock-gingerbread.zip

2. 720p + panorama wide mode View attachment 720p+wide-for-stock-gingerbread.zip

3. 720p for defy+ View attachment 720p-panorama-defy-plus.zip

- 720p record and playback, record works with stock camera app

- thanks to bether and pbjhon
- thank's to Simplestas and _Reboot_ for libs


- 720p record works only on red lens camera (bayer module)

- Green lens can only record max. WVGA. (SOC module)

Install:

  1. Download attached file
  2. Copy file to root of your sdcard
  3. Run 2nd-init
  4. Launch custom recovery (CWM)
  5. Install zip
  6. Reboot


720p record settings:

1280x720, h264, AAC, AudioSamplerRate 44100, AudioBitRate 102400, 30 FPS, 10Mbit

Video will record with max. 24 FPS



WORKING SETTINGS:

tested on red lens

H264 codec: 1280x720, 720x480, 704x576, 640x480

Mpeg4/m4v: 1280x720, 848x480, 800x480,720x480, 704x576, 640x480, 480x320, 352x288, 320x240

Solved problem, have 2 set in 2nd init boot menu auto boot to normal, black screen problem gone now and record 23fps video 720p without overclocking.

combined with green bread mod camera works fine up to wvga and 720p playback is ok:)

Will it work??

Also I'm using the lgcamera pro too if this matter..

Hi Walter!

Im using Gingerbread Rom 4.5.1-134 with the GreenBreadMod and i get "record failed" message when trying to record video.

Any ideas?

wow!!! for me rec/play in 720p is extremely important!
although i have to admit, it is less that i desperately need those features but 720p in h.264@30fps once and for all proves that the defy really has a omap3630 with iva 2.2 installed which just got crippled on the softwareside (remember the discussion???)! GREAT WORK!!!
sadly i am a quite satisfied miui user and i know that this mod is kernel dependend, so i won't be able to use it right now :(
thats why i have some questions:

1. could you please post a sample of 720p recording??? thanks

2. has the 720p-playback improved (-> lagging in high profile vids)since antibytes mod for froyo?

3. and of course: WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO DO THE MODIFICATION ON LIBS FROM FROYO KERNEL???? lets say for 3.4.2.177-03/05 or cee 179 :D

from 451-134 i've flashed greenbread patch for green lens and this zip, but from lg camera dont have 720p recording!(ive green lens)

Hey Walter.. great mod!!

But again I need to know is it safe to flash this zip into my rooted stock gingerbread 2.3.3, BuildNumber: 4.5.1_112 ?? I have 2nd-init 1.8v installed if this matter too..

Ok.. Firstly, my rom is rooted stock gingerbread 2.3.3. With installed 2nd-init ver1.8 running.

Just flashed the zip file via 2nd-init custom recovery. Follow with installing lgcamera-pro ver5.87..

Lgcamera configuration
Camera settings:
White balance - auto
Scene mode - auto
Flash mode - auto
Anti banding - auto
Focus mode - auto

Photo Settings:
2592x1456
Overlay a time & date on the photo
JPEG quality - 100

Video settings:
1280x720
Video encoder - H.264
Video file format - MPEG 4
Video bitrate - 4Mbit
Video framerate - 30

Here's the video of 30 sec and a picture under the above settings taken with my Defy red lens. Both files are taken under low lighting/flourecent. Playback still a little lagging but smooth on pc though.. Thanks to walter...!

    Update.zip to enable 720p recording on stock camera app

    This is the flashable update.zip to enable 720p recording in stock camera app. After flashing it you will have 720p, DVD, VGA recording modes in normal mode, A slow motion QVGA which records at 60fps and HD fast motion mode.
    The attachment is just a modification to original zip in 1st post which has the modified build.prop, this zip is useful for all Motorola defy with bayer module and can be flashed to newly flashed gingerbread ROM, it contains all codec and the mediaxml file. You can also flash if you have codec already installed.
    No need for lgcamera after flashing for 720p recording, now it's all stock:)
    If having any problem with flashing make sure you have space in /system folder.
    All the credit for the codec, mediaxml, modified build.prop and the original update.zip goes to walter79
    Please thank him for that.

    Might be the build.prop included in the zip which messes things up - and my knowledge is way too limited to fix this myself. Maybe Walter could at least comment if it is at all possible to make this work.

    I talked with epsylon. 720p for cm7 need some time. Normal Gingerbread way did not work.
