Thank you, but I think my request was misunderstood. I'm trying to delete the 'screen off' animation (when simply pressing the power button to turn off the screen - not the phone), not 'shutdown' or 'startup' animations.

Any idea how to do this?

go to settings --> display settings --> animation, select no animation.

Thanks, but that just disables the screen transition animation (minimizing apps to home screen, etc...). Didn't work for the 'screen off' animation.

OK, now I know what you're looking for. It's crt screen off animation!. To disable this you need to modify frame-res.apk and it's in the bool.xml. It's not hard to do but you need a tool to de-compile to edit then recompile back.

I am completely stumped. I flashed the stock FP1, then the FP1 Deodexed/Debloated/rooted with Eclipse AOSP apps. I cleared cache/delvik cache before installing. I flashed both the startup and shutdown screens in CWM. I see no shutdown screen whatsoever, and the startup screen is the Galaxy S. I recleared the caches, reinstalled the ROM in CWM, unzipped the eclipse clouds then manually copied the sanim.zip file via Rootexplorer to the system/media folder after deleting the original sanim.zip file. I changed the permissions on the new sanim.zip file to rw-r-r. The phone still boots to the Galaxy S animation. Root Explorer shows the copied sanim.zip file in the system/media folder. Where is the Galaxy S animation coming from?

Just for the fun of it, I used Root Explorer and just went in and completely deleted the sanim.zip file from the system/media folder, and guess what? I still get the Galaxy S startup animation.

You have to use pbj 0130 kernel for custom boot animations to work. Shutdown animations wont work for that version of the rom. Nitro hasn't added in the ability for custom shutdown animations in the FP1 Roms yet.

Thank you. That answers my question. Oh well, I guess its the Galaxy S startup unless I opt for the PBJ route.

I have the same problem. I had to re-root the phone and now I get the Galaxy S start up instead of the Eclipse one. I took PB&J off and running the stock FP1 kernel because I had read that PB&J won't work with FP1 right now. I really would like to get that pretty Eclipse start up back! :)

You have to be on pbj kernel for any custom boot animations to work. pbj will work with a FP1 rom just the wifi wont work. So you'll have to decide what's more important.

Hey Paul, I too like your bootanimations, and actually last night messed around with different tutorials on the web, and was able to create my own from a video I shot of my boy's football game. Its awesome, and I got a question, what's the recommended frames per second for part 0 part 1 and part 2? thanks in advance.

You can't change the fps for each part just an over all fps, which you set in the desc.txt. You can set it to pretty much any fps you want. If one part is too fast or too slow you can just add or remove frames which will change the speed.

I'm using this tool, and yea my bad. I meant to ask how many loops per folder. I left them at 1. Forgot to mention that my animation looks like it skips every other frame or two.

Usually part0 is set to 1, so it plays one time and moves on to part1. part1 usually is set to 0 which will loop that part until the phone boots. All depends on what you want. You can just use one part, part0 and loop that over and over too. As for the skipping maybe when you converted the video to images it didn't grab every frame of the video. Or you might have the images too high of quality which could cause it to skip.

Ok the video was shot in 1080. Gonna bring down the video resolution to 720? And can I split my images to part 0 and part 1 only? Got kids football practice right now, but I will try when I get home thanks.

Simple clean boot and shutdown animations made by me. Enjoy :D

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone as a result of flashing any of the files. All files have been tested and work on my phone.

You shouldn't have to mount system but you may need to if you don't see the new animation.

Boot Animations work with any rom running a kernel that supports custom Boot Animations.
Shutdown Animations work on Eclipse 1.4 and 2.0, TweakStock 1.4, Tweaked 1.5 and 2.0 and InfinityROM
Shutdown Animations can be a little choppy depending on how much the phone is doing during shutdown. Unfortunately there is no way around that.

    Directions Boot Animations:
    1. Currently using a kernel that supports sanim.zip custom boot animations
    2. Download zip and put on root of SD card
    3. (Optional) Backup current boot animation. Navigate to /system/media rename sanim.zip to sanim.zip.bak
    4. Boot into recovery, You do not need to wipe the cache's, install zip from sdcard
    5. Reboot system

    Directions Shutdown Animations:
    1. Download zip and put on root of SD card
    2. Boot into recovery, You do not need to wipe the cache's, install zip from sdcard
    3. Reboot system
    4. When it boots back up Reboot or Shutdown to see Animation

I'm pretty sure Jaekar99 uses flashable CWM zips. You need to extract, take out, the bootanimation.zip and rename that to sanim.zip and then put that in /system/media
    1
That's a big list which one do you want and I will just make a flashable zip for you
    1
    Nice, I opened sanin.zip
    now I see :
    480 800 40
    p 1 0 part0
    p 0 0 part1

To speed up frame rate which one do I modify? by how much do you recommend?

You change the 40. You'll have to play around with it and try to get it to your liking. Try 50 if that's too fast slow it down or still to slow then go up higher. Make sure when you put the desc.txt back in the zip in needs to be set to store/no compression. Otherwise the boot animation will just be a black screen.
