Has anyone had a problem disabling voodoo lag fix. Everytime I disable it it gets stuck in a boot loop?

Sent from my SGH-T839 using xda premium

Never tried disabling it. Not sure why you'd want to.

Yes she was saying the system partition was unavailable. How did I brick it? I was able to ODIN back though thankfully.

What mounts?

Here's what I did:
Superoneclick root the device
Load modified recovery file with super manager
Put CWM update.zip in sd card
Restart into CWM
Flash modem and this rom
Restart then it TALKS TO ME!

I did this TWICE, amazing rom, wish I could get it to work :(

Mounts are parts of the system that need to be written to, and so must be set as mount or unmount depending on the value.

Code:
Instructions - NOTHING NEW, if you know the drill then go ahead and install.

- Put zip file in your /sdcard
- Reboot into cwm recovery
- Wipe Data/Factory Reset
- Wipe Cache Partition
(Optional but recommended to prevent any minor issues)-Wipe Dalvik Cache from advanced menu in CWM

*Now before you Flash, Only if you are on the orange CWM, (Not RED voodoo CWM from Bali) if on red CWM ignore the mounts/unmount part*
MAKE SURE YOUR MOUNTS LOOK LIKE THIS: (Go to mounts and storage from CWM recovery)

    UNMOUNT CACHE
    MOUNT DATA
    MOUNT SDCARD
UNMOUNT SYSTEM - this is the ONLY mount you pay mind to, not Sdcard or anything else

- Now its safe to Flash the .zip

Above was taken from ayoteddy's thread.

yeah, disabling the lagfix doesn't seem to work. I did do it successfully way back on KD1 or something.

I haven't been running the lagfix just because I am wondering if ext4 tends to be a bit more glitchy on this device. that's definitely not for sure, but it's a theory of mine. like sometimes my notification sounds wouldn't ring, or I would reboot to a flurry of force closes(on most of the KG2 custom ROMs). stock RFS file system seems more stable, to me anyway.

ah yeah, I loved the G2 a lot. the lagfix, or voodoo, I believe is just the conversion on Samsung phones from the stock file system over to ext4, which seems to be snappier. it isn't as big a deal on HTC phones, because they seem to ship with say, ext3, so going to ext4 is easy.

but Samsung uses it's own proprietary file system, RFS, which some people say sucks, lol, but I think they've improved it quite a bit. but I believe all the SK4G custom ROMs use the conversion to ext4.

Trust us as ROM devs...ext4 is snappier. Its the official file system for newest up to date Linux systems. And its open source, so anyone can make it better. RFS is proprietary so its closed off to people who want to make it even better. There should be no point or any part of time that you should feel the need to disable Voodoo Lagfix. If you get weird problems going, you need to clear your cache and dalvik cache partitions, and fix permissions and then reboot.

Damn, that seems like a pretty heavy issue. If its still doing that even on stock, something is seriously wrong. Is the Sidekick still under warranty?

I have never disabled Voodoo, haha. I went from Project Nocturnal 1.2 to Glorious Overdose V2 to Generic Ginger 3.2 and having Voodoo CWM, and Voodoo lagfix was enabled the whole entire time.

I don't even have time to even test for stability before a new sub-rev rolls out.

I guess none of these are stable, as they get a new sub-rev like 2x a day?! :)

I'm a beginner dev. Latest release is final and stable, its the fastest ROM for the SK4G up to date because of various contributions from people like PDT, Honk, Trunks, and John_2k2 all I did was use all of their ideas and blended them into the best it could be. Because of idiots like you, I'm done deving for SK4G. Going to the HTC One S. Try developing a ROM for yourself, noob.

TL;DR : The last remaining dev is gone. Go bug ayoteddy, maybe he will come back, or wait, maybe he left because of pricks like you. @the86d

I may quite possibly still dev for the SK4G, but only because MOST of the SK4G community appreciates the work done, and I like that. I'm not gonna let one ungreatful n00b ruin it for you all. Yes, I admit because I'm a beginner, my first few versions were horrible. But now, I've learned that NANDROID is your best friend, so I'm able to test the ROM for stability. 3.7 is fully functional, and is the only SK4G ROM to fully feature all build.prop, and Init.d tweaks, and Swype Beta 3.26, while thanks to all the tweaks, the Blaze 4G modem, and Platypus V1 Kernel battery life has been significantly enhanced.

That's a bit weird. Ill try making a custom editing to the picture setting in build.prop and have you specifcally test it change quality back to 90% though I'm almost positive that's not the problem. Anyone else having this issue?

And I don't really care about any opinions of anyone who doesn't have positive feedback or a legitmate question or concern who can't ask it properly. The only reason I'm irritated is because I blatently told everyone id be making edits, because I'm a beginner. And that's all I got to say about this, drop it and act like everyone else on this thread, I'm trying to revive a pretty near dead device by myself. When you attempt to help dev, then your negative opinions may matter, but you don't. So null and void.

text message reminders

First of all I'd like to say thank you for your hard work on this ROM and it looks great. I was just wondering if there was any way to incorporate a text message reminder feature into the ROM? Like when I get a text message and dont hear or feel the notification the first time, can it like vibrate or play the ringtone every minute until i actually open the text? I know there are apps for that but it would be pretty cool if it didn't require one.

Because of the sheer amount of downloads I got on GenericGinger 3.4 BETA alone, (204) in just one day, I've decided to release both a beta, and stable version of 3.5, read below to understand.

    3.5 changelog...

*added task manager back from GOV2 (The original Samsung one)
*added Voodoo sound control (for added audio control)
*MAY switch launcher to LauncherPro or Faster Than Light (FTL) more testing is required [in v3.6]
*added Tegrak Overclock (for overclocking ASAP)
*added Swype Beta 3.26 (EXTREMELY BUGGY NEED TO TEST)

Please note : For this particular version, I have released 2 ROMS. One has Swype Beta 3.26, and one doesn't have Swype at all.

If you want to test the ROM with Swype Beta 3.26, go ahead and let us know if it works and has the orange tracing line. If it crashes and is NOT stable, simply just download and flash the 3.5 ROM WITHOUT the Swype.

I might just have to take a break from GOV2 and try this, if I do I'll follow up later, thanks

I saw this got ignored so i wanted to repost.. Or is it possible to add a theme like scarlet's leftovers to it?

Not ignored, I'm going to try to learn how. But I'm not confident with that yet.

BTW, didn't know there was an Android voice, didn't make any sounds for me.
