Was using the 4/09 build and now on 4/11. Both builds have been very stable for me with no issues except data speed and GPS lock speed. It seems since switching to these roms from stock, my data speeds have been a lot slower. I tried loading a different modem (CL5) but it made matters worse. Tried another APN...nope.

So I flashed back to the original modem and its getting me by but its about half the speed I was getting before with the stock rom. For reference, I was getting 3 - 7 Mbps down consistently before flashing CM9...now I am always 1/1.5 - 3.5 Mbps down. Pings were roughly the same between the roms although sometimes I would get insanely high pings with the CL5 modem.

With regards to GPS data lock, the lock speed was much faster in the stock rom. Also, sometimes it fails to retrieve my location with CM9?

Regarding stability and smoothness, this is a beautiful rom!! I encourage those on the fence to try it out. Even though it is a nightly build...it is very usable as a daily driver.

Oh, 1 request pleeeease...Enable Facebook account syncing so we can get our contacts pics from FB!!!

I noticed that CM9 is the build.prop is missing some of the modem enhancements from CM7.

I don't know if its necessary but I always add this to build.prop:

ro.ril.hsxpa=2
ro.ril.hsupa.category=6
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=21
ro.ril.gprsclass=12
ro.ril.enable.dtm=1

Dude the only dubm questions are the onez we don't ask;) Yes, both when I tried to flash it manually and then through Rom Manager.

How about elaborating more on the problem. Where does it "not take". Is there an error when flashing it? what version of cwm at you running?

I came from tasks ROM a long time ago. I would bet that your cwm is all messed up. Try flashing sahya (idk spelling) kernel which will give you a cwm known to work

Why didn't CM7 have the same problem? GPS locking and tracking was rock solid in CM7.

Is there anything we can do to tweak our GPS so it works as well as CM7 and stock-based ROMs (gingerbread and ICS)?

Samsung changed the libgps interface between GB and ICS. In GB, they used the standard interface used by AOSP gps.h - in ICS, they added a few undocumented fields. That is, for example, why sat status reporting was broken for a while.

Methods tried are way to many to list. Short version, I went back to Entropy512's I777UCKH7 OCD With Root, (made nandroid) and then installed RM. I tried installing CWM through RM but had no luck.. I then installed SUCK_ICS_04102012 (to gain cwm) I tried to load CM9 (from here forward consider I have done all the appropriate wipes) only to end up in a 20 min cymod bootscreen loop. restored backup and now flashed CWM through RM and tried installing CM9 through nightlies list. In this procedure, it went through its processes and put me back on tasks leak.

Update on my NFC woes!
I got it working.
I used root explorer to manually copy the files to /lib and /etc.
Then I flashed the zip again to install the NFC service because it wouldn't install as an apk.
Everything is fine and dandy now :D

I got nfc working but my Bluetooth menu is missing from settings. Bluetooth still works and I can access the menu by tappung and holding the Bluetooth toggle in the power control notification, but its not visible when launching settings.

Anyone have problem with play music not syncing with the phone? I logged in with my gmail and none of my songs show up.

My play music works fine. Try using wifi for first time sync? Or try restarting. Make sure settings are right inside of the play music app.

So does that mean that if my GPS and compass don't work now I'm basically hosed on cm9?

It seems reasonable to think that there is something I can tweak to get this problem fixed?

It may take a while for them to appear. Also make sure gmusic sync is checked under accounts and sync settings.

Compass should be working, always has been.

GPS requires more reverse engineering work. It'll take some time.

Since the 04/09 nightly, I can never seem to be able to shake the RILJ wakelock. This morning, I even wiped everything and tried a clean install of 04/13 and still the same. Has anybody experienced this and if so, how do I get rid of that wake?

I just got a message pop up unfortunately exchange service has stopped
and I also get unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped. These are annoying and blocking Google Play. I am running the gapps-ics-20120317-signed. The strange thing is, I had downloaded all my apps earlier today, then this evening..... This!

EDIT: OK so I cleared it up with a third wipe, this time wiping EVERYTHING. phew, it's good to be back:D

I updated but I don't think it helped. Gps lock still takes forever. And I also noticed that the compass seems really off. It will often point east when I am facing north and then it will drift around a bunch. Anybody else have this problem?

GPS locks within seconds here running 4/13. NFC working as well. Running UCLD3 getting 7/1Mbit. Thanks to CM9 team and others :)

    CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.0 (ICS), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    Code:

     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,

     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM

     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

    CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    First time installing CyanogenMod 9 to your AT&T Galaxy S II (SGH-I777), or coming from another ROM:
    - READ FAQs: http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/Experimental:GT-I9100:Frequently_Asked_Questions
    - Make sure you're running SGH-I777 bootloaders only (only the ones that are specifically released for the SGH-I777 -- official Gingerbread bootloaders work fine!) and a proper working CWM like the one from CM7
    - Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
    - Boot into Recovery
    - Flash CM9 zip
    - Flash GApps zip
    - DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your calendar sync will not work)
    - Reboot
    - Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup!

    Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9:
    - Copy CM9 ZIP to your internal SDCard
    - Boot into Recovery
    - Flash CM9 zip
    - Wipe cache partition and dalvik-cache
    - Reboot

    STOP!!!

    What I don't quite get is why there are nightly builds of this ROM but no fix yet to the audio bug.

    Overall it is a pretty sweet ROM, and compared to the leaked ATT ICS ROM it kicks ass. The att rom is a bugging bloat ridden piece of crap.

    The audio bug impacts the ROM as a daily driver, so much works right about the ROM but this bug in particular makes it a pain to use. Being able to receive a text while listening to streaming music and receiving a notification and have the music return to the previous sound level just does not seem like too much to ask.
    Because this "bug" hasn't impacted any developers and we've got a ton of other things to fix.

    ICS KERNEL SOURCE HAS ONLY BEEN OUT THREE WEEKS.

    IT HAD FUNDAMENTAL STABILITY BUGS WE DIDN'T FIND FIXES FOR UNTIL DAYS AGO.

    THIS WEEKEND IS EASTER AND SOME OF US HAD HOLIDAY PREP TO DO LAST WEEK. WE HAVE OUR OWN LIVES YOU KNOW!

    WE DON'T EXIST TO SERVE YOU.

    Submit a fix to gerrit or stop *****ing and wait!

    codeworkx's tree is untested - it keeps derping. Looks like I'll have to temporarily rip out NFC.

    It's 1:35 AM, I'm about to go to bed regardless of whether it builds or not.
    14
    TriangleAway can be used on ICS to reset the flash counter.

    Video recording upgrades are not merged in yet - it's in progress. No ETAs, but it's close. Don't ask when, of course - there are many reasons why a patch that works on our device will get rejected until rewritten in a way that doesn't break other devices.

    A major dock audio cleanup by StevenHarperUK is in progress. It's working on my device now, so it's a matter of getting through code review.

    I submitted a new kernel to gerrit that fixes stability issues when changing cpufreq min/max limits (e.g. fixes SetCPU profiles).

    I'm going to hop over to TW-land for a while to do some stuff, then I think I might play with NFC.

    Great. So 4/20 ****S **** UP AGAIN!

    More mount point changes? Now all my gameloft apps that I JUST fixed last night are redownloading app data again. Same with my dropbox, as well as my spotify AGAIN.

    Why are they doing this!!!??? THIS IS 2 TIMES I'M gonna have to RESTORE to get my **** right again. I mean, I get the first swap of mount points. It was needed to match other devices, but it's royally screwed my device. AGAIN!

    Maybe some warning in PLAIN ENGLISH is in order. I'm about to give up on CM9.

    get lost. your post is ridiculous. is this your rom? did you take any part in the development of this rom? NO and NO!!! how do you have any right to ***** or complain about something that you have NOTHING to do with? YOU DON'T! if you don't like it, FIX IT YOURSELF and submit it to gerritt and see if your changes get merged. either do something about it yourself or switch to a different rom. its that easy. no one forced you to use this rom. your post doesn't get you any closer to your solution so i'm not quite sure why you even posted this bull**** other then to complain about something that you have no right or control over. think about it.
