Is there a way for me to do wireless tether with unrooted 4.4 droid maxx? Foxfi was broke on update :/

You can pay Verizon for a tethering plan and the native hotpsot will work. As far as I have seen, that's the only way for now if you are unrooted KitKat.

FoxFi can tether through Bluetooth or hardwire if you're not rooted. It needs a helper app on the client side though.
