What's the difference between these? I'm going to possibly flash EC09 for a friend. Thanks!

A mis communication, on the part of Nitewolf, and myself. Go with her's on the OP. I'm removing my post, to prevent further confusion. Thanks for the heads up, and sorry for the confusion.

Where did you get the modem? I only ask because you cannot dump the modem with dd.

I thought I had, until we talked in irc. It's still just the "ghost file". Flashing it doesn't seem to hurt anything, so I just put it in when I made the package. If I'm right, to all it seems to do is tell the phone what to call the baseband in 'about phone'.

What are exactly the differences between the heimdall and odin versions?

I just flashed odin ec07 then ran the heimdall ec09 over it...

Should I have waited and ran the odin ec09 only?

You are fine. They both do roughly the same thing. Odin is just a simpler ui. Heimdall is more complex, but its more stable. It also allows you to pick which files to flash in any given package, whereas with odin, you have to flash whatever is in the package.

The ODIN link isn't currently working because the DropBox account has been disabled due to too much traffic. :)

Any other way to get this file?

Please let me know how it goes :)

I'm running EC09 now! Used the Odin file. A few oddities though.
Checking the re-partition option in Odin actually causes the process to fail before it ever really gets going. The only way I was able to successfully use the Odin file was to leave re-partition unchecked.

When downloading the file, my browser only showed the amount of data downloaded. It never showed the size of the file and it seemed unaware of what percentage was complete as it was downloading. Might have more to do with the online storage server site than the file itself though.

But I'm up and rolling! Thank you very much!
